Thank you for the great video as always Paul. And thank you for your desire to fully embrace the importance of a rule video and going through the huge effort of re-recording and re-uploading of this video.
Thanks! Just learning this game and I find your video very thorough and informative. Next, I will watch the three player video as I am ready to play my first game - three-handed!
Thanks Tim. This was a new style of video for me. Never done one like it before. Most of my other "how-to-plays" are all fully scripted, filmed, edited, etc. DIdn't have time to do it for this though.
Hey Paul. My copy arrived yesterday. I played it a couple of times on Tabletop simulator during the Kickstarter. As they updated a few rules, I decided to wait for it to arrive to play it again so I could have time to forget the old rules. Thank you for doing this rules explanation. You were great! I will be watching the other videos in this series after I do a playthru of the base game.
Yeah, I really enjoyed this one - but it was an hour long video (because that is how long it takes to do a full teach). Whereas, my scripted videos are like half that time :)
Hi, we played a couple of times and have two things (3) that we are not completely sure about: 1: Taking a lesser benefit-rule Does this include for example in the eclipse fase you can take a lesser benefit if you may build a Megalith on the Terrain tile bonus? I.e. Take an axe instead? And for example take 2 totem-steps in stead of taking 2 cards once you place a megalith on the cards-place on the megalith-board? Or when playing a culture card which gives a totem step, you’ll take an axe instead? So: can you always take a lesser benefit, except when taking the 5 new cards at the start of a new round? 2: Order two actions in top-section of Action Column. At two action columns there are two actions on the top section, which you may do as many times as you want. 2.1: Can you do bothof them back and forth? For example: you play 1 labour to add two animal-cards to the hunting-area, then I pay/play one axe and one labour to buy one animal-card and then you play again 1 labour to place 2 more cards in the hunting area and than buu one again. 2.2: Can you divide a cards labour? In example: for the top hunting section you play one tribe-card with two labour and pay one axe. You you one of the labour the place two new cards in the hunting-area and then the other labour and the axe to buy an animal. Hoping someone van clearify these questions. (English is not my native language)
1. Lesser benefits can be taken at ANY time. The only exception is the preparation phase - draw 5 cards. That must be 5 cards. 2. I thought I mentioned this in the video - you can do as many of them as many times as you want, in any order. 2.1 Yes. 2.2 Yes. Labor is generated and you spend it however you want.
Thanks Paul for this video. I will be watching this as soon as I have the game. Just one remark, in the KS they offered only deluxe editions. Correct me if I'm wrong.
This game looks awesome. I wish there was a way to get it at a reasonable price. The only way to get it is on eBay for $350 US. I should learn my lesson and check whether a game is available before watching your tutorials. This is the second time this summer I watched, loved the game, then found out oh it is was a kickstarter that I never saw until it was on this channel.
Just got the game, I really appreciate the video Paul. Thank you! However, the miniatures are impossible to paint. I'm having my 9 year old daughter pain-t them for me (see what I did there). That's how pathetic a painter I am. Then, add these detailed minis and yeah, I gave up. Other than that, great game!
Fantastic video as always, I did have one question that the rulebook was a little vague on, for the eclipse bonuses from you player board do you choose what order to gain benefits in? The rulebook makes it seem like you do sacred stones after idol and card bonuses and that will affect points you get from certain sacred stones but it wasn’t super clear in the rulebook just wondered if you had any insight on this?
Apologies if it wasn’t clear in the rulebook (since I wrote the rulebook) :) i think you can do them in any order, but I’d need to check what the rulebook says.
@@fatherofgames9239 Just checked. I'm pretty sure you do the player board eclipse benefits in the order listed, 1,2,3. So you do Megalith bonuses (tool / idol / idol) before Sacred Stones. That's the way we've always played it.
Hi Paul, I have 2 questions about the game rules: 1. Can I put 2 of my workers in the same action column in the same round (but not turn)? 2. Whenever I get a benefit (food, taking a card, placing a megaliths, etc.), I can get a lower one described in the hint card. Is that relates to ALL of the elements in the game (symbols on playing board, Culture/Tribe cards, animals (when turning them by 90°), hexes, megalithic boards, slots for megaliths and etc), or ONLY at the start of eclipse phase when players get benefits regarding to their turn order?
Not sure it matters but during the eclipse phase . Does Player based on the new turn order do parts 1-4 then player 2 etc. Or is it player 1 does part 1 then player 2 then player 1 does part 2 followed by player 2?
Just got my copy and I notice that the rulebook says to move the round marker at the start of the eclipse phase and then again in the preparation phase. I'm assuming that's an error and that it should only be moved once. Looks like that didn't get covered in this video--does it matter when it moves?
@@GamingRulesVideos Thanks so much for the clarification! I was not seeing the eclipse icons as spaces for the marker. Great work on your videos, by the way. Just discovered your channel and will be working backwards for a while!
@@GamingRulesVideos Hints on what it was? After watching you video I realised in was playing a couple of things wrong on the tts mod all this time! Edit: never mind! Saw the note :)
@@GamingRulesVideos There was a couple of small things. The discard cost of playing additional culture cards for eg. I thought you could just play two Max per turn and that's it. There was a couple of other small things like that but that was the main one.
Did you back Endless Winter? Are you looking forward to it arriving?
Yessss! I've been playing the base game and cave painting expansions on tts but keen to play rapids in person as soon as it lands!
I'm sincerely hoping it will be in Essen to buy. Already regretting missing the KS. :D
i backed, this has me really excited!
I received it yesterday! I'm gonna try a play tonight.
Very through, thanks.
And that my friends, is how you explain how to play a game. Thank you very much, you're still the best!
Thank you for the great video as always Paul. And thank you for your desire to fully embrace the importance of a rule video and going through the huge effort of re-recording and re-uploading of this video.
Ironic that it was all done during the hottest days on record.
Paul is the master. This game was hard to grok, but he made it all so easy to learn!
Just got my kickstarter copy of endless winter and I want to thank you for your detailed rules explanation. It has been very helpful! You rock Paul!
Thanks!
This tutorial video is fantastic and the pace of the teach is perfect! 👏
Thank you.
Perfect refresher of the rules while I wait for my copy :) very very excited for this experience.
Thanks! Just learning this game and I find your video very thorough and informative. Next, I will watch the three player video as I am ready to play my first game - three-handed!
Wow...man that was some heavy lifting! Great video, looking forward to playing this tonight after your EXCELLENT rules breakdown.
Let me know how it goes. Glad the video helped.
I almost gave up learning this game. I'm really really glad i found this channel and video and thank you for this tutorial have a bless day.
Appreciate it, but why did you almost give up? The rulebook is good (I wrote it), and the game isn't that complicated, but I'm glad the video helped!
After your elucidating video I will sure back endless winter ! Thanks Paul
always a huge fan of how well you explain games Paul! Thanks for yet another brilliant tutorial!

As always a cracking video Paul, can't wait for this to arrive looks awesome
Thank you for a great video. You made it very easy to understand how to play the game. I got the game this weekend and I'm super hyped to play it.
Great tutorial Paul! Plan to have my players watch prior to 1st play, so that once I get my KS copy we can jump right in.

@@GamingRulesVideos Yes, 2 or 3 times now. Solid game! Love it!

Paul, thank you so much. What a great explanation and teach of the game I just received. Fantastic!!

very clear, excited to get my shipment here in the US in the coming weeks.

1. Yes.
2. Yes. I think the rulebook specifically states "at any time in the game"
@@GamingRulesVideos Thabk you for fast response and the video itself!
Not sure it matters but during the eclipse phase . Does Player based on the new turn order do parts 1-4 then player 2 etc. Or is it player 1 does part 1 then player 2 then player 1 does part 2 followed by player 2?
It can matter. Each player in order does all of their steps.

You move it TO the Eclipse space for the Eclipse phase. Then, in the preparation phase, you move it to the next ROUND space.
@@GamingRulesVideos Thanks so much for the clarification! I was not seeing the eclipse icons as spaces for the marker. Great work on your videos, by the way. Just discovered your channel and will be working backwards for a while!

Endless Winter: Endless Rules
There are a lot of rules :)
What? Is this a reupload?
Yep. There was a small rule I missed first time around.
@@GamingRulesVideos Hints on what it was? After watching you video I realised in was playing a couple of things wrong on the tts mod all this time! Edit: never mind! Saw the note :)
@@Shoitaan Out of interest, what rules were you playing wrong? The rules changed a lot in the last year, and the new rulebook is not online yet.
@@GamingRulesVideos There was a couple of small things. The discard cost of playing additional culture cards for eg. I thought you could just play two Max per turn and that's it. There was a couple of other small things like that but that was the main one.
@@Shoitaan Yeah, that was the older rule. Sacred stones changed a lot too. And megaliths
I don' think 1 hour tutorial is your style, it could be more concise
I agree. But this was the format chosen for this video as agreed with the publisher. I've not done one like this before, nor have I done one since.
Crystal clear! Thank you very much!
Top Job. As alway. Thx Paul
