I think you are the only content creator that addresses the very specific ways female hormones can influence how effective fasting is....or is not. This explains why I've found fasting to be either very easy or very difficult. It must be related to different hormonal surges. I'm 47 and winding done towards menopause. I've been trying to lose weight and have found it a very frustrating endeavor.
This is the first time that I did not bleed like crazy during my period following your teachings. Lost my stubborn weight and the good part my skin did not sag. I thank God that He let me know your channel. Im really joining your academy.
@@missmarisaferreira Hi. I followed Dr. Mindy’s intermittent fasting w/ prolonged fasting 1 to 3x a week. I did not do any prolonged fasting on the 12-14th day of my cycle and also on the 21st day until I bleed. I just lost 14 lbs within a month and 7 days. Idid keto and now im trying the carnivore diet due to my joint pains.
After 3 months of keto with zero cheating, it was SO HARD to make myself stop, but I did for the progesterone. We got Indian take-out and I ate rice and naan & had a remarkable shift in energy, went from barely having the strength to take a hot shower to joyfully taking out the trash and cleaning the kitchen. I didn't realize how energy-taxing 3-4 months of strict keto on OMAD and water fasting was making me. Is it possible that keto is just the wrong diet for some ppl? Because I can't deny this remarkable boost in energy from just one day eating a little bread and rice again.
I’ve been fasting for 3 weeks and my period came 11 days early and it’s super heavy. Now I know it’s because of low progesterone. I’m excited about reading your book and implementing the strategies for a consistent period, weight loss and longevity
This is by far my favorite video you’ve done and I watch all of your videos! I’ve lived a hflc lifestyle for years and no one has broke down hormones quite like you. Thank you Dr. Mindy!
Cycle Day 22... woke up with such low energy and realized it was because for the past few days I had been fasting along with low carb. Immediately ate an apple and oats, had a leafy green hummus sandwich for lunch, and for dinner some chicken breast, broccoli, cauliflower, snacked on potato chips and dark chocolate and I feel AMAZINGGGG
One thing I absolutely love about you is that you provide facts and parameters so we can attack fasting properly. You throw out all the important stuff and say “you all get to decide if this is going to work for you, if it is/isn’t going to pack on pounds.” Bravo and thank you for all of your wisdoms!
I did a ton of fasting the last 4.5 months and didn't know about this. I started getting 4 cm cysts alternating each month ovary to ovary and they really messed me up when they burst. I found the information on this video only just recently going into maintenance phase but on day 21 I will so be on it. I wish I knew about this before but hopefully it's the answer to the problems I've been having!

On your IG post the chart shows day 17-21 as the progesterone building days but in this video you say day 21-28 are. So confused.......Can you please clarify?
Yes please clarify. I thought from your book the progesterone building (progesterone building foods, no fast longer than 15 hrs) was day 21-28. Now I'm hearing we should start that at day 17/18 but for how long? So no fasts longer than 15 hours from days 17-28? That seems like a long time.
@@DrMindyPelz hey Dr Mindy. Yes. I also get confused. As I followed your previous video that should do progesterone building in day 21-28. But now you are saying is day 17-21. So which one should we follow in order to have a regular period. I am 32 yr. Thanks so much for your explanation.
The progesterone peak occurs 7 days before one’s period starts, and it’s production begins around 4 days prior to that (around 11 days before the start of your period, Day 1). In her example chart in this video with a 28 day cycle, the peak fell on Day 21, and it’s production rise (building days) when the “Relaxation Phase” began fell around Day 17. This suggests that if you instead have a 25 day cycle, for example, then the progesterone spike peaks on Cycle Day 18. And your “Relaxation phase” when you want to help that progesterone build up with healthy biotic foods begins around Day 14, and lasts all the way through until your next period begins - like someone else mentioned, your luteal phase, basically. But that peak day and one day before & after it (Days 17-19 in this example) are the most crucial days in terms of avoiding higher amounts of stress (cortisol) as caused by longer-length fasts, because you don’t want to decapitate that progesterone rise prematurely. That’s my understanding at least...

Have you tried carnivore? It is the ultimate 'elimination diet" that allows you to figure out which things are causing problems for you. It also works wonders for bringing down BP.
@@robinbeers6689 - I was recently thinking about trying carnivore, however, I wasn't sure if I'd get all my vitamins/minerals on meats alone. But, it looks like I may have to do carnivore for awhile, since plants bother me now. Thanks.
@@kalkeikuu You will get more nutrients, not less, with a carnivore diet. Animal foods are the most nutrient dense foods on earth. It sounds like you may have some auto-immune issues going on there. You might enjoy the website of Mikhaila Peterson. I think it's called "Don't Eat That". She is someone who has suffered though all kinds of food sensitivities until she found carnivore eating. BTW, not only are animal foods more nutrient dense than plants, their nutrients are more bio-available than those in plants. Example: the "iron" in spinach is not the heme iron that your body uses. The beta carotene in carrots is not the same thing as the Vitamin A that your eyesight needs. These nutrients have to be converted by the body and some bodies are better at this than others. Even a perfectly young healthy person is still only getting a fraction of the alleged nutrients that are listed on the package of plants. Dr. Saladino has commented that trying to put plant nutrition in an animal body is like trying to run a PC program on a Mac. It's the wrong operating system.

Hi Dr. Mindy. I did my first 72 hour fast this week. I started on day 1 of my cycle. I was supposed to end my fast last night but woke up nauseated and a bit shaky. I drank an LMT, put salt under my tongue, and ate a keto cup. The only thing that helped, slightly, was the salt. I sat down on the sofa for about two minutes and when I got up there was a lot of blood. (yesterday would've been the last day of my period and I woke up "dry.") I began gushing and had a clot. It was scary because this has never happened before. I searched your videos and found one where you said that a heavy flow is a sign of perimenopause and low progesterone. I purposely did a long fast at the beginning of my cycle because I know it's recommend. I'm confused, trying to find answers as to what I need to do, and a little scared. I would appreciate any advice, please.

At 65, I am totally post menopausal. But I started getting migraines as I approached 50. By 53-55, I was living in hot flash city, and migraines became an every 2 week experience, lasting 4 to 5 days straight each. I tried several pharmaceuticals over a few years, but nothing the Dr's offered helped. I took large doses of ibuprofen over the 5 days of headache, which helped only minimally. But it was the only thing I could take, and still work. Finally, my sister, who also experienced post menopausal headaches (as did our mother)gave me one of her newly prescribed sumatriptan. I have been taking sumatriptan ever since, which works 90% of the time, but only 12-24 hours at a time. But I knew all this time, the cause had to be hormonal because of the 2 week cycle. AND of course, the fact that I never got headaches before menopause. No doctor offered any progesterone, which I am now thinking might have helped way back when!😑 And I have been to many, including migraine specialists, over these last 12 or so years. As soon as you mentioned it, Dr Mindy, I had a light bulb moment!!!

This is awsome, im going to try these. Since i hit my 30s i have this huge problem, i am just ALWAYS retaining water in the second half of my menstrual cycle. I have tried everything i can think of and not a lot works. I have tried water pills, eating keto, increasing carbs, ,fasting, eating, dim, vitamin supplements galore, water and nothing works. I know you are supposed to eat and eat carbs in the second half so i do that now but half the time i am not hungry from retaining so much water, the only time i seem to get hungry is when its more like a stress hunger, maybe im just stressed all the time, i dont know.Trying hard to listen to my body and things seem to be slowly getting better sometimes but its like i can never fix it completely. At times i do think it has something to do with progesterone so i've read and tried a few things with that, if anything ever works it always seems to be temporary. I try to eat healthy, i used to be insanely healthy and then i went through a downward spiral of eating unhealthy a few years ago but i am definately eating way healthier now. I also used to fast all my life up until my 30s i would say, especially my 20s and i was fine. Really hoping this doesn't get worse in your 40s +!

I could eat these before. I tried fasting, but my blood pressure goes higher from the stress of starving. I am 45 yrs old and hadn’t had a period for 2-3 months now.
Have you tried carnivore? It is the ultimate 'elimination diet" that allows you to figure out which things are causing problems for you. It also works wonders for bringing down BP.
@@nicmri Yes. Dr Paul Saladino is great as is Dr. Ken Berry and Dr. Georgia Ede.

35 and don'tn't make much progesterone at all and never have.
Thank you for this wonderful information! I haven't tracked my period since I got IUD, and started tracking again a few months ago just to find out that I haven't had one for 2 cycles.. I wonder if I am perimenopausal, I'm 48. My goal for this year is to cleanup my diet.
Thanks for watching! Here is the link for DUTCH test information - bit.ly/dutch-test-ytc
Why do people make it sound like it is so easy to just shut off your stress like a switch?
It causes me stress.
I like Dr. Peltz's suggestion of telling people "I'm trying to make progesterone, so don't stress me out right now" lol... I'd love to be able to just say that to everyone who stresses me out.

@@juliaorpheus that cracked me up, too! Lol
Menopause reset please!

Thank you for pointing out that we can still do intermittent fasting up to fifteen hours during the protesterone/relax phase!

hi Doc - i benefit a lot from all your most valuable videos. Am a medical doc too. How do you suggest post menopausal women build progesterone? Thanks
Mindy I love your content, you're genuine and everything that I've been following with my nutritionist you have totally agreed with. After watching your videos it's nice to know that I'm on the right path. I would like to get information on a Dutch test. I feel good through clean eating and many supplements and I do practice 5-day water fasting, I've had some great results. Thank you for being so in tune with us girls that are in our 50s . 55 and I feel great no complaints
Hi . I'm weaning off of a progesterone replacement. Age 65. History of lots of reproductive surgeries & problems with very heavy bleeding that resulted in 2 transfusions. I'm nervous about going completely off the replacement therapy & very happy to have found you & your teaching. I'd like the Dutch Kit link please & thank you :)

I am on levothyroxine and had successful pregnancy in the past but this time I had a miscarriage because of am doubting short luteal phase ..... maybe due to my long 18 hours fast, limited calories and ofcourse running on the treadmill at 7mph.... I will definitely change my lifestyle now... thank u
This is SO HELPFUL thank you so so much 🙏❤️
Hi Dr.
I love your videos. Dutch test, please.
So excellent! Thanks, Dr. P! 🙂

Hi Dr Mindy, I’ve been ff your channel and so far I’ve been doing IF everyday for about 2 months now and I lost 17 lbs from my starting weightlifting at 165lb and now I’m at 145 lb. Recently I went to see my care physician for annual check. My care physician called me up this morning regarding my lab results. According her
My care physician is concerned about my cholesterol lever to 160
@@dariusdeguzman4739 Please read this article regarding cholesterol. I think your doctor may be working from some out of date research. This is from the Weston A Price Foundation, not some fringe internet opinion.
www.westonaprice.org/health-topics/know-your-fats/cholesterol-friend-or-foe/
Whatever you do, please do some research on statins before letting your MD strong-arm you into taking one. They cause muscle wasting and memory loss and a whole bunch of other side effects.
@@dariusdeguzman4739 Ask your doc to test for size of LDL particle. That makes all the difference. Small, dense LDL is a no-no. But bigger, 'fluffy LDL is good. Watch Dr. Nadir Ali videos on this. Prof. Jeff Volek has a video where he discusses this too. Dr. Berry too. There's others but I forget their names.
fat burning reset and dutch test , please!
I was taking Yasmin years ago and I was getting horrible canker sores and I found a blog about that said the progesterone in it was causing it. And every time I tried a high progesterone pill I would get a lot of canker sores and get depressed.
@roxie140 if you are on the pill try to either get off it or get on a lower dose progesterone pill. It might be the problem. I think the pill pretty much screwed with everything. Gut microbiome ect.
Reset holiday please
No doctor offered any progesterone, which I am now thinking might have helped way back when!😑
And I have been to many, including migraine specialists, over these last 12 or so years.
As soon as you mentioned it, Dr Mindy, I had a light bulb moment!!!
Dutch Test please and thank you for this video Dr. Pelz.
I’ve been waiting for this video to come out, ty

Lovely info dr.mindy...thanks a lot for always motivating us to lead a healthy lifestyle...👍🏻😊
Superb video..
I’d like to get the next reset please for November

What about post menopausal women for progesterone. What do they do ? When ? How? How often?
