As these guy already know, "operation shining brass" was the code name for the missions "across the fence" into denied territory in Laos during the Vietnam war, where were "not supposed to be". They were Mac-V SOG missions. Later renamed "prairie fire" in 1968. BADASS Mofo's, along with the HMONG and BRU tribesman and the Chinese Nungs who accompanied them, and very frequently saved their asses. All Gave some, some gave ALL. Like Captain "Larry Thorne" (not his real name, look him up for a great story of fighting in 3 wars for 4 different sides...) He went down in an H-34 command helicopter after inserting Recon Team (RT) Iowa. The helicopter and pilot were found shortly after, but Captain Thorne was never seen again, his remains were recovered by a Finnish team in 1999. Godspeed to all the great men who fought in that hell hole, especially those who died there.
