Out of all the interviews I have watched of Satya till now in the past month, this was the best interviewer pushing to get some answers the CEO about the negative effects of this technology but Satya succeeds again in changing the context of the question asked even though it's quite apparent
This gives me confidence that Microsoft is going in the right direction with AI. I am glad they are getting involved and using their AI hands on has been a great experience for me.
As a computer scientist, the one part that I couldn't get past was the fact that the AI is exhibiting emergent behaviour. This is something I noticed but I thought I was crazy for thinking it

To give you an example, an ai that was never trained on images was described a labyrinth, walked through verbally by a user. It was then asked to present what it had learned as a map. Even though it had never seen an image before, let alone a map, it drew one using only verbal context to know what a might might “look” like. And this is the beginning. I think Microsoft will win this race! Because of first-mover advantage and that ChatGPT seems "good enough" even in these early versions. Google may have more advanced technology internally but looks like trapped in a kind of innovator's dilemma.
All this will lead to an AI winter some time. Using LLMs to understand user context can surely get some results, but LLMs cannot perhaps be a scientific rationale to understand human behavior. It is relatively cheaper now for companies to experiment hence all the massive investments into nlp models are flowing in. The big bets MS is placing on chat gpt will plateau on its returns soon in time. And who uses bing search btw? I never did.

Save your 19 mins with this Chat GPT summary of this conversation🙂 Microsoft CEO Satya Nadella is excited about the new technologies used to redefine search with AI. Bing's new chat function has a more powerful model incorporated than Chat GPT. The AI model used in Bing is built with safety and diversity in mind to avoid biased and harmful content. Nadella believes AI technology will help humans remove the drudgery of everyday knowledge. Nadella is more worried about the lack of innovation than the potential disruption of jobs caused by AI.

Isn't it hard to determine whether or not the behavior is mimicking what it has seen, as opposed to actually learning something completely new?
