This game from what I have seen seems like a combination of Paper Mario 64 and Dream Team. Both games from their respective RPG series where Bowser was the main enemy and final boss. Paper Mario 64 for Paper Bowser and Dream Team for normal Bowser.
Though Bowser being the main antagonist of Dream Team was unexpected because another bad guy is introduced and I expected him to be the final boss. Bowser being the last boss really caught me off guard but it makes sense that Bowser merely was using Antasma from the start to further his own goals. In hindsight one of the bad guys would be the one to dissolve the partnership so it either had to be Bowser or Antasma that did it and I think Nintendo thinking Antasma dissolving the partnership would be too predictable so they went with Bowser and decided to have Antasma as the penultimate boss instead of being the final one.
@KingSlayer yea, but think about it, every game before it had a variation of bowser as the final boss (partners in time counts because its the last fight) so i wasnt too suprised when it was bowser himself as i knew that all the events leading up showed how antasma had no way of controling bowser
@@sundermc Ik this was 4 months ago, but I wanna say 2 things no. 1 is that although each final boss had a variation of Bowser, the whole plot twist was that this was the King of the Koopas HIMSELF, meaning he wasn't being controlled or possessed or a fake blue version of him... This was Bowser Himself in all his glory, finally getting the final boss spotlight that he deserves. No. 2 is that Antasma did have a way of controlling him in the end and Bowser luckily (or maybe he saw it coming and by that I don't mean he literally saw it coming because he said that he actually knew Antasma was trying to play him but I mean that maybe he knew exactly how Antasma was going to betray him which is probably why he did it when he did) betrayed him when he did because (this is all speculation btw but this theory checks out, it's not mine, but I believe it) as we all know, at that moment, Bowser and Antasma were both there, probably ready to fight the Bros in the Dream World, unveiling and using Antasma's new power he got from the dream stone to create a portal to the dream world (luring Bowser to go into the dream world where he can follow through with his plan). They would then fight in there like the 1st time we fought both of them in the dream world, with Antasma going inside of Bowser. But this time, things would be different as Antasma is very powerful in the dream world now thanks to the dream stone, even powerful enough to potentially possess and control Bowser's body when he goes inside of him. He would then have both Bowser's power and the dream stone in addition to his own power, becoming the final boss of the game. (what he would do next tho idk maybe he'd go out of the dream world again and go to where we end up fighting Dreamy Bowser or maybe just end it all in the dream world) So he probably did have a plan before Bowser ,with the character development that he's gained during the whole game series thus far (he didn't make the mistakes that he's made before which are trusting another villain too much and even if he was going to betray them, waiting too long until it was too late to do so), stopped it potentially by accident and saved himself yeah sry for the essay block but thanks for reading it if you did

After a while of fighting them Paper Bowser begins going through a transformation and the 2 combine their powers thus creating the final boss. It's basically a giant Bowser wearing Paper Bowser as a suit of armor and after a long and brutal boss fight real world Bowser falls off the side of his castle to his supposed death leaving Paper Bowser to be sealed away back inside the storybook. Mario, Luigi, and Peach bid farewell to Paper Mario and Paper Peach as they have to go back to being inside the book to keep Paper Bowser from breaking free again. Meanwhile Bowser is preparing a second attack having revealed to have survived his fall and the Mario Bros leap into action once more. Things have finally returned to normal. Well about as normal as a typical day in the Mushroom Kingdom can get.
I remember being 9 years old when this first came out, playing this in my bed and beating it for the first time and being in complete awe, man I want to be a kid again. Would kill to go back and play this for the first time again
I think this is the best final boss track in the entire Mario and Luigi franchise, I'll even say it surpasses In The Final, and really any ost in any game, honestly everything about the boss is amazing, the only thing I would say is miss potential is the whole fact that Mario and Luigi didn't become Shiny Robos like Bowser, this is where my inner story making me comes out, I know that Paper Luigi was scrapped, if he would've been included I have no doubt that would be something that happens, either way I love what we got

+Gravity Falls Canada there is really no references. Sticker Star was basically just a standard Mario game. Bowser captures Peach, Mario rescues her. That's about it. No need to catch up, just play this game. The only thing you need to know is Mario is Paper and thats about it
