i think the best part of my high school journalism class that I took was that it basically taught that to be good journalist you needed to, lie, make false connections, and over exaggerate everything. think some people may have taken it too seriously and not seen it as bullshit.

One of the redeeming facets of the prequel trilogy is the image of an emotionally unstable Jedi. The idea that someone with that kind of power and influence was so unstable is scary and while the movies had their issues, being able to see some of the story that could have been is worth it to me.
Imagine being a powerful teenager having not seen your slave mother for ten years, dreaming about her death for months, finally rescuing her just to fail and see your nightmares made real when she dies IN YOUR ARMS...
Imagine finding a way to marry the girl of your literal dreams, she gets pregnant, you are leading the fight in a galactic civil war...you get the rest...

Fun Fact: according to the Vader canon comics palpatine did give Vader the chance to build his own “perfect” suit but Vader chose to keep it the old painful way to keep the dark side coursing through him. Palpatine did design the suit to keep him from rebelling but at some point palpatine trusted him enough.

There are some interesting interpretations on the Star Wars films, such as that the Jedi philosophy was fundamentally flawed or that the Empire was actually good because it provided much needed stability to the galaxy after the fall of the corrupt Republic. This is not one of those theories.
Also that line about Vader breaking free of the dark side of the Force through "paternal instincts" obviously doesn't realize that part of the word "patriarchy" is the word "patriarch."
I think the way the Vader's suit enhances pain is to further amplify his force power. Since he's already suffering mentally, some chronic pain will sure help his corrupted force power.
The toxic masculinity of the Jedi was Yoda living alone on Dagobah for 20 years so he could spend his last years in meditation trying to find enlightenment or Luke refusing kill his father out of anger.
The real reason is because of his upbringing. The jedi console were mixed about him joining because he was too old and too attached to his mother. It also didn't help that Obi-Wan just left being a padawan to becoming anakins masters. He became emotionally unstable as ep2 and ep3 continued

We all need to learn from Jolee Bindo and become Grey Jedis. Jolee knew that emotions aren't the problem, it's passion. Passion was Anakin's downfall, passion consumed him and caused his turn to the Dark Side. Yes, fear had a part of it, but it was the passion behind the hate when he killed the sand people. It was the passion behind the anger when he accidentally force choked Padme and fought Obi-Wan. That is what the Jedi don't teach!

Star Wars was full of Buddhism. There was no repression or punishment anytime Anakin had an emotional outburst, he literally goes to Yoda and tells him about his fears and his visions. More importantly, Anakin's failure was that he couldn't let go of himself. Attachment is a selfish love, whereas Buddhism (and the Jedi basically) promote a selfless love, compassion (which Anakin explains to Padme that Jedi aren't forbidden to love, but encouraged to love). Attachment is selfishly clinging. You'll notice that throughout Anakin's big breakdowns, it's never about the person he loves, it's about -him-, HE wasn't powerful enough to protect his mom, HE will be better. When he turns against the Jedi it's "I can't live without her" regarding Padme and "I need him" about saving Palpatine. What saves Anakin in the end isn't "embracing his emotions", it's that for once in his life Anakin's love for Luke supercedes himself. When he saves Luke, he isn't doing it because he wants to keep Luke in his life (like with Padme), but because he wants to ease Luke's suffering. He finally found someone he cared about more than himself, it's a compassionate, selfless love that saves the Galaxy rather than a possessive, clinging attachment.

The reason why Palpatine gave Vader a suit that caused him constant pain was so that his connection to the dark side would be stronger,because if he was in constant pain and suffering he wouldn't be drawn back to the light.
That was because he would be resentful,hateful and would feel mostly negative emotions,which strengthens one's connection to the dark side.
