These are fucking AWESOME. The new format is nice, I'm a fan. The artwork that your wife had made for you is great as well. You always shoot these really well. The rotating base makes these videos even better, haha. I'm really stoked you included the pricing info and whatnot, I don't know if that had anything to do with my suggestion, but either way, its interest to know as a viewer. The camera you took the photos with at the end is ridiculous as well. I don't know what you do for a living, but I'd be willing to bet you bust your ass, haha. As always, I'll be watching.
616Entertainment Thanks 616!! Really glad you liked the statues and the format buddy. It's still a work in progress but should be much more fluid and smooth in the upcoming reviews. I appreciate the kind words about the artwork my wife had comissioned, such an amazing gesture and looks so much like me it's eery! Adding the price info was definitely a result of what you said buddy so thanks for that. It makes mnuch more sense that I show what I got it for or what it really should retail for at that point. Hehe I definitely bust my ass for a living in my regular job but this is a great hobby and I hope I'll be able to do it for a long time to come. Thanks for the support buddy, means a lot
Wow!! Thanks Stew for reviewing both of these statues. I was the one that asked about the B/W one when you recently posted a picture of your recent haul. I too have been amazed at the lack of attention that George Reeves has gotten in the collector realm of figures and statues. I have looked for a long time for Statue like this. Immediately I flipped when I saw them both, because I wanted them both! My wife sobered me, and so I decided on the B/W one, and I mentioned you to Wild Mind, and I have now secured one of the 15! Thanks so much my friend. You just do not have a collection, you have a Museum. I appreciate your continual commitment integrity to the total mythology of Superman.
Brandon Sehein Thanks for a great comment Brandon! Firstly I really appreciate you taking the time to watch and comment, It means a lot. So glad to hear that you'll be adding the black and white statue to your collection buddy...You definitely won't regret it and I hope my review showed off enough detail :-) LOL at having a museum!! It definitely feels like that sometimes. Hope you continue to enjoy my reviews Brandon
Stewart! Of course I've known about these two brilliant statues for a while but the close up hand held moments in the review really helps to appreciate the care and attention that was given to them. Absolutely stunning! George Reeves was my first Superman so his version will always hold a special place. We've discussed this before (and you mention it in the review) but it is unfortunate that there are so few collectibles from that wonderful TV show. Your collection wouldn't be complete without some form of Reeves representation and it's so great that you managed to get both versions of the statue. Great review as always! I particularly enjoyed the commentary and getting to see the inclusion of images from the show.
Richard Knepp Thank you Richard!! Yeah this review has been a LONG time coming huh? I remember when I first shared images of these, seems like so long ago. I'm glad that the review sparked a little nostalgia and I truly wish that DC Collectibles would sort out whatever legal difference is preventing more of these to be made officially. Can you imagine an upcoming man of steel statue with the likeness of George, classic hands on hips pose an all??? We can but dream!!! Really glad you enjoyed the commentary and the little images from the show. Thank you again for all your support and encouragement my friend, it makes these all worthwhile. Now onto the next review!! lol
Hey Stew, Wow, What can I say. These 2 classics are AWESOME! Great score my friend. What a Great addition! Your new format is solid and a good viewing Experience. Bravo! Keep em comin! Cheers!
Rez TheCollector Thanks Tony!! Yeah I really should have reviewed these a year ago when I first got them. Glad that I've been able to share them with the community though. I've heard a few negative comments that they don't look like george at all but I do think they really capture his look well. The sheer size of them is impressive and they always draw my eye when I walk into the collection room! Thanks for watching and commenting as always my friend. Not long till you'll have a LARGE review to film yourself! :-)
I've just commented about the statue on your Facebook post, so I'll just mention a few thoughts on the new video format. Breaking the review up into feature segments is a great idea and worked well here. Also I like the new intro with the portrait of you (I presume) as Superman. Great way to personalize your videos. Great job, Stewart!
RogueDerek Thanks Derek, I appreciate the fecbook post and this comment. Glad you're liking the new format of the reviews, It should be integrated more smoothly into my upcoming videos but I appreciate the support and kind words. Hehe yeah the intro portrait was an early surprise birthday present from my wife. She commisioned a local artist to make it based on pictures of me and it looks scarily accurate!! Thanks again buddy, hope you continue to enjoy these
souldrum86 Thanks Chris!! Glad you enjoyed the statues buddy! Given the quality of the sculpts I am blown away at the price of these. Similar custom pieces can be almost double. Thanks for all the support and watching Chris!
lionelep1 hehe thanks Lionel, The intro pic was an early surprise birthday present from my wife. She commisioned a local artist to make it based on pictures of me and it looks scarily accurate!! Glad you enjoyed the review and it caused a bit of nostalgia for you :-)
That intro pic was cool---Brilliant my friend and jumbo in size too---the bigger the better--haha----you really get what you pay for---thanks for sharing mate
maddwoba Hehe thanks Greg!! The intro pic was an early surprise birthday present from my wife. She commisioned a local artist to make it based on pictures of me and it looks scarily accurate!! Glad you took the time to watch and comment my friend. Thanks again!!
Wooooow stew you are a very lucky man to have these in your collection congrats lover boxes that coming amazing sculpt thanks so much for sharing such rare pieces love your different categories and letting us know where to get them thanks again buddy
***** No problem at all Peter!! Thanks for the kind words and I'm glad you enjoyed the new review format. It'll hopefully be integrated a bit more smoothly by the next video. Hope you're able to add these to your collection someday buddy, thanks again for watching as always :-)
Lobe the new format Stew. I'm. A big transformers guy amd when I first started watching youtube there was a guy who would do "Masterclasses" on transformers characters, amd his set up was a little similar to this. I love the format but he dropped it pretty quickly and it's shame because I love watching passionate, detailed reviews. (Your analysis of the new BvS suit...whoa) Personally I'm not that into statues or busts, but I can't wait for the figures to get the same love that the statues are getting. Keep it up Stew. =)
Colonel Pepper Thanks Colonel Pepper!! Really glad you're enjoying the new format and I'm personally looking forward to using it for future statues and figures too. I totally understand not being into busts or statues, they're definitely not for everyone but I appreciate you taking the time to watch and comment anyway. Hope you continue to enjoy these buddy
Wow! I know this is an old video but, it just showed up in my feed! This show was before my time but, i watched it in the early to mid 60's!!! LOVED George Reeves as Superman!!!!! My fav Superman!! (Christopher Reeves is second!) I would LOVE to get one of these, or both would be nice!!! These are so awesome looking!!! Too bad they didn't make a Clark Kent version!!!
Have you seen the really old cartoons? It beats the hell out of the blocky silly newer cartoons. The old cartoons ate kinda like the George Reeves Superman show. I actually have one of the 20 1/6 scale black and white George Reeves Superman figures made. Unleashed Viper Customs made it.
Hey Joe, yeah I love the classic Fleischer cartoons. The animation is so stunning. Congrats on picking up the Unleashed Viper figure. I saw images of that and it looks very cool
Thanks for checking these out Marty, yeah I totally understand them being 1/4 can be off putting especially with limited space but in person they're so striking n a large scale! Appreciate the comment buddy
andrew wharton Thanks for watching Andrew!! Glad you like the black and white version, it really does look so impressive in person. I appreciate the comment buddy
Ouch! Best George Reeves custom likeness you've ever seen?... lol. I, of course, am a little bias to my versions likeness being more acurate to George's likeness but these are fantastic looking pieces! Great detail throughout and the packaging is a really nice touch! And as always a fantastic review. I love the new intro and format!!!!!
magonzal70 Thanks for watching and commenting as always Mike!! Argh again I'm really sorry I didn't mention your custom, Its clearly got these two beat in several ways! I wish i could go back and edit the audio of this one lol. It's definitely a testament to your sculpting skill that so many people prefer yours to these buddy. Fingers crossed you'll one day going into the custom production business yourself! You definitely have a built in customer here!! Thanks again for all the support and kind words about my intro and format Mike, It means a lot. Hopefully in the next review it'll be integrated a little more smoothly
GEEZ ,,, I must agree .... At my age memories of my heros of 60 years ago are burned into my brain. This looks nothing like George Reeves. All one needs to do is watch the original black and white opening on you tube . The face has been changed for some reason by Stew on the film opening stance and I think he just overlaid the statue face over Reeves face.
Those are nice, Stew, but I think Mike Magonzal's sculpt nailed the body and face better. We need to get him doing customs for us! Really looking forward to your Weta reviews!
raptorrancher Thanks for checking this out Adam! Yeah I REALLY should have mentioned Mike's awesome custom during the review. I really love what he was able to create and I think these mainly depict George from a different period in the show. His size did fluctuate quite a bit. Thanks for the comment and yeah, here's hoping Mike starts producing customs himself!
Very nice tribute to George Reeves 'Superman'..I think he filled the boots quite well, he just had that stocky farm boy look, somebody you don't want to anger. ....Indeed, color version brings out skin tones, physic better, but I prefer the meteorite stand. The Logo stand is too much color combined w/color Superman.
Love the intro Stewart. These aren't bad statues. I would say they could be a little better on the cleanliness of the sculpt and paint. The face isn't awful, but could of been sharpened up for a low set count. Great addition to your collection in any aspect.
Keith Mundt Thanks for commenting as always Keith!! Glad you liked the intro, The new intro pic was an early surprise birthday present from my wife. She commisioned a local artist to make it based on pictures of me and it looks really accurate!! I can see what you mean about the face sculpt but in person I really think it looks great. We're so starved for George Reeves collectibles and I always love looking at these in my office. Thanks again for the kind words buddy, hope you continue to enjoy my reviews
I like the new format alright, but I'm gonna have nightmares about that new picture in the intro. :-D Anyway, my experience with George Reeves' portrayal of the character is limited to a few episodes I've seen on TH-cam, but overall I enjoyed his performance. I like how much attention they payed to the suit design, and the face sculpt is dead-on. I'll admit that I like the base to the color version a bit more, but like you, I can't decide which statue is better. Also, how do you choose what you're going to review next? Do you have a schedule that you put together or something?
The Framemaster Thanks Framemaster, Glad you're enjoying the new format and regarding the intro pic....that's a pretty accurate pic of me that my wife commissioned from an artist. Had to start using it in my reviews, it was so good. I appreciate the comment and i'm glad you liked the statues. I really like the way they look on display and there's such a lack of George Reeves statues out there that this fills a nice void. Regardingwhat reviews I do next, I actually do have a VERY long list of figures and statues on there that I want to get to. At the very top now are my 4 WETA statues but I might film a little showcase of all the DC Collecibles statues I own, not sure if you saw the pic I posted on facebook a few weeks back of all the boxes together. Sometimes If a really cool item arrives I bump it to the front of the queue but I wish I had more time to film in general, I'm often really busy with work. Thanks again for the support buddy!
Pat Byrne firstly thanks for watching and commenting! As I mentioned in the review, if you check the details it includes all the contact info for Wild Mind Collectibles, Facebook, email etc. If you drop them a PM etc I would appreciate you mentioning that you saw it in my review. Thanks!
hi stew, just got a movie masters jor el £2,50 its an amazing likeness and great detail on it,i think this is the coolest in the man of steel movie masters line, got them all now,the BvS movie masters were cool aswell, the wonder woman movie master is ok but the lex luthor dc classics i think it is?thats an awesome figure
stewmurray47 hello,I don’t have a face book account(I’m not on it,neither on twitter etc, prying eyes u kniw!)could u pls send a link via this board if possible?ya know u can check my 2nd cousins Instagram site, you’ll b amazed! I dunno under which name he has it on but once u are ok,I’ll get back to u with it,as it’s either one or the other, sorry for the inconvenience
From Santiago de Chile, Congratulations on this excellent video about the statues of George Reeves. In the early 80's Superman films were very popular here in Chile and a small TV station decided to show many of the episodes (in black and white) of "George Reeves Superman" and man, those were the days of real joy... at least for me that could enjoy the magic of this episodes.... Thanks God we have blu-ray to enjoy this series "the way it was meant to be" but I wish that with the release of "Batman v/s Superman" we could see more of the job of Reeves and the classic DC heroes.
+Gaspar Gajardo Apologies for the delay Gaspar! Really glad you enjoyed the review and I appreciate your comment buddy. Great to hear from a fellow George Reeves fan, he brought so much to the character that still remains today. Thanks for the support!
Yeah these are both pretty rare, however if you check the video description I provide details on how to contact Wild Mind Collectibles, they may still have some. Thanks again for watching and commenting
While it is a great statue, I feel that the portrait of George Reeves isn't quite there. It seems more cartoonish than actual real life - if that makes sense? Instantly recognizable by the pose though, and I was shocked by the price, especially by what Sideshow is charging these days. I was expecting just the one statue to be $600-900
Stiffkittens Thanks for watching buddy, I appreciate the comment. Yeah I can definitely see what you mean from certain angles. We're so starved for George Reeves collectibles now that I am glad I own them. I do feel that it looks like George from certain angles though. Yeah the price is really very competetive given the amount of time the guys at Wild Mind put into them. Thanks again for taking the time to comment :-)
stewmurray47 A very under-appreciated actor, especially today. Guess it doesn't help having the massive shadow of Chris Reeve looming over you. And Don't even get me started on people calling Christopher Reeve "Reeves"!! But I think you got a bargain here, especially when you see the prices that custom 1/6 figures go for Congrats!
Stiffkittens Urgh at the Chris Reeves thing...yeah it really annoys me too and happens way too often these days. I'll always prefer Chris in the role, nostalgia plays a slight part in that but to me he really encapsulated everything about the character to me. I can't deny that George was a hell of a great actor too and it's shame we don't see his show on TV more. Thanks again buddy
Do you ever worry that one day you won't be interested in superman anymore and you'll have all this stuff that you don't want in your home, that you've spent thousands of pounds on, that's taking over your living space, your life and your money. And you'll be like 'superman...get out of my house!!'
Jon Crane Hehe thanks for watching Jon. To be honest I've never really given it any thought. I've been a lifelong Superman fan and I can't see that changing any time soon...I don't think I'd ever sell my collection unless it became absolutely necessary but I don't think it's taken over my life or my house. It's all located in my office and I keep switching out what's on display to keep it fresh. I suppose it's a valid question for any collector out there. Thanks for taking the time to watch and comment buddy
John Mulder Thanks for watching and commenting John! Whilst I agree that in hindsight the likeness isn’t 100% George, I still really like seeing these two on display and the bases/packaging were a brilliant touch.
I loved the suit but am so disappointed in the face. Not to an original likeness of him at all. I wish that some others would try to create a modern day rendition as so many artists would do a much better closer rendition face wise. Some of Arnold's statues are incredibly life-like in facial features as Conan.
Rollmeover Intheclover Thanks for watching buddy! Whilst I still love these statues in person I understand you not liking the facesculpts. I've actually picked up a few more George Reeves 1/4 scales sculpted by Simon Davantes and they look very very cool. Also picked up 2 Kirk Alyn 1/4 scales from him too. Highly recommended
I finally got the comic series Fleischer set of Lois and Superman on EBay a few months back. I'm 64 and grew up on those magnificent cartoons. The set does justice to the cartoons.
Rollmeover Intheclover Agreed! It's a really nice statue and is identical to the DVD cover for the series. Such a classic sculpt, always been a fan of the Fleischer cartoons myself. The reproduction of the newspaper for the base was an inspired touch
Aww I always preferred the more bumbling Clark rather than George's more confident one. It always seemed like a better disguise lol. Thanks for watching and commenting Peter!
Stew: I've always thought that George's vision of Clark Kent was spot on as a guy you'd want to shoot pool with on a Saturday night. For me, it was Clark's natural, quiet confidence that showed he didn't need to do the fumbling buffoon routine to hide the fact that he was Superman. Kent's being just another guy was understated just enough that most people wouldn't connect him to Superman. Thanks to George Reeves, Clark Kent was no punk. I miss him.
Beautiful! The Superman of my childhood (but George Reeves' hair was brown) :)
That black and white version is amazing. I would buy it if it were boy so tall. Awesome review.

👏👏👏

where can I order these..the link doesnt work
Hey, sadly these came out over 5 years ago so they would have completely sold out after a few months of being on sale.
Where can I buy one?

Thanks for the support!
wow can't find one on Ebay even :o
I'm only kidding. If it's what you enjoy then more power to you! Great reviews by the way
Hehe thanks Jon I appreciate it.
the outfit is cool to me it don't look like George Reeves.
John Mulder Thanks for watching and commenting John! Whilst I agree that in hindsight the likeness isn’t 100% George, I still really like seeing these two on display and the bases/packaging were a brilliant touch.
Only 40? Good Lord! I'd hate to know what you paid for them!
Nice chattin with you. Cheers!
very close but not a ringer
He is a better Clark Kent than Chris
I miss him.
Superb review
