    Old or not, the fundamentals of medication administration remains the same. In school, I have not been given any videos on medication administration so this is quite helpful for my skills assessment since the flow is easier to recall

    Notice maybe an error when she gave the cough syrup she left the eye drops and the patient alone with the eye drops what if the patient thinks she can give her own dose of eye drops for her glaucoma since she could be older and used to applying at home on own

    I would encourage nurses to wash their hands with soap and water, not alcohol. Alcohol does NOT kill C-diff. I would also encourage them to keep the cup for suspensions and liquids on a flat surface and read it at eye level. If your hand is holding it and is crooked, you will not give the right amount.

    Very well done...but like another comment med aides today have up to what 40 people to give to and altered states where pills have to be crushed, mix with food etc. too slow of a pace im afraid. And i have no idea of how to be that thorough and efficient in a timely manner. She did not address post admin that the md needs to be called and the ointment needs to be addressed. Also the comment about dig............. the order is as written and 60 and above give the med. go the the drug book if insecure. Dig is best for that heart pump to beat strongly and the caution is below 60.

      Alvin Melancon so how do you get them all done at fast pace

    • @ShivSaerdin
      @ShivSaerdin 5 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Dorothy Powell ...you take shortcuts. Still follow the 6 R's, But be more systematic. Eliminate delays, know how much time to allocate per patient in advance. 35 patients can be done in 30-35 minutes. Less if they've been in your care for a few days. It's one of the things that you pick up with years of practice. Heck, I've seen one RN perfectly do 60 people in 15 min. Not a single error and everyone's happy.
      For exam or student purposes though, it is better to do it the way she presents it here, which is ideal, but be sure to talk to the patient to put them at ease. Confidence and Care must radiate from you at all times.
