    I like this design. It looks effective. I plan on building a dedicated purge building in the middle of nowhere. I'll teleport there from my main base.

    I have seen many videos on purge builds. So yesterday i did my first purge with two othet teammates on a pvp server. None of have done one. We had herd they were hard. We did a 9x9 structure no thralls black ice and nothing else. One of us was encumbrance and a teammate and i was all combat. The two of us with two axes star metal. Chopped them down like nothing. We ran out of treasure so we only got up to level 7. Im looking forward to 10.

    Yes, if you are planning to do the purge make a dedicated structure away from your main base. The more thralls you have involved with your purge no matter what level will increase the difficulty. AOE fighters two, one quick stabs alot and three or four archers, plus myself and my two followers. See how it goes on Exile lands, kept CTDing on level III purge half through on Siptah.

    You really need to recalibrate the definition of succes. If you lose more than you gain then it is not a succes. You are only taking into account the amount of treasure lost :-) Good video's just not substainable in game with limited time or resources :-) Love to watch the different designs and learn of your mistakes :-) Tx

    First-thank you for all the tests you've done, I've watched a number of your new purge base designs in the last few weeks. 2nd-Learned something new, how you built your base with foundations first, then stations, one of those /facepalm moments where it makes so much sense to do it that way. Another thank you for that.
    Finally: New purge system. Yup, just as I thought based on all the previous vids you released. You have to design the base not only for defense, but for their pathing algo. IMO = failed design for their new purge system. While with the old one you had to take pathing into account, it was a lot less picky about it, and still the rewards are not worth the effort. I guess its up to the mod community to make this at all interesting and fun.

      exactly, my base and its surroundings are built in pretty opened space and i thought i wouldnt have any problems, well i was wrong, purge camp couldnt find any place to be established, looks like i have to babysit every step to make sure it works, which is failed design as youve said

    I too, was thinking that a dedicated purge/treasure building, would be needed with the new expansion... your tests seemed to be leaning in that direction.

    what if i seperate my base from the purge area like you did, but from one roof to another i make a stair or place an horizontal elevator???
    it is a bit anoying that we HAVE to use the natural ground or they won't path to the coffer, my guess is there is a coding complexity behind it and hopefully they manage to ''fix'' it at some point.

      You don't have to, dev streams/videos showed working purges inside and on foundations, so have plenty of others.

      If you connect the base, they go to the base gate. We have tried it before (there are videos) I have not tried it, it may be a elevator.
      The best option for the coffer is to place it on the floor. Putting it on the ground. Because the demolishers damage the ground and the coffer is destroyed.

    I think the problem with the Purge spawn is that it won't use the same place twice. And the last used places I notice become "unbuildable" areas?

    everyone wants to do the purge, can anyone explain why do it? I'm a beginner player and I don't really understand much why you'd go through all this in order to defend a purge, what rewards does it grant?

    I'm having trouble reasoning is the when I try to start the purge five seconds later the game says not enough space but I'm in the desert with flat ground alot of room but I'm still not able to start the purge, basically they can't set up their camp.

    I have always wondered, in your purge tests are the thralls as spawned, or do you level, feed, or put new weapons on them? Also are they all T4 or a mix of different ones?

      90% t4, some t3 and boss. I have to use ready thrall in admin mode.

      you're probably not giving a path for the purge , the purge needs a path towards the coffer , most likely it's not the area , but the building because the coding can be janky sometimes things like doors get weird and don't let it happen , i myself gave up on the prospect of doors entirely and made it look like a game of snake , left and right and going up by the end of the line , with the finish line being the coffer. (not saying it's a must , since who knows the complete requirements but the pathfinding for the purge is a must.

      Purge path must be at least 2 blocks wide

      but that part i disagree unless they made it different between single player and multi-player it doesn't feel like it's the case.
      in my single player purge base I made walls of palisades on the entrance with a golem in the middle , decently tight fit , like a golem wide narrowness if I build it with the right narrowness , sometimes i fail at it and too tight so I widen it a bit but still not very wide , never as much as 2 foundations and often slightly below one foundation wide , the insides are not much better 1 foundations wide unless it's advancing the "maze" wich is just like a scared snake player , unless they made the fences and palisades work weird to allow this design to bypass the 2 foundations i disagree with the 2 foundation requirement.

      @@potaton2277 It is possible, of course, but it is usually a problem. My suggestion is to reduce the problems, otherwise many different methods will work.

    So, I'm a little confused, it seems like they're only concerned with destroying the base/killing thralls. I never see em walking away with any treasure.

      They want to destroy the base and kill the Thrals defending it. Sometimes they steal gold, but it's rare.

      Seems like it´s not completely working out as intended. I remember, that they should mainly come for the treasure. But these demolishers seem to priorize doors but then just go for everything else.
      Also I´ve encountered the ridiciolous fact, that those spear-soldiers take a lot more hits than the actual boss

      @vaskur8998 yeah, in funcom's video, where they showed this off, some were carrying the loot back to their base. Idk 🤷‍♂️

      @@billy.471 They do. But they seem to priorize other things. STarted a leveel 1 purge just to see how it will act etc. I need to say i was not actually prepared, since I play Singleplayer. the coffer was right beside the main door. Some actually tried to steal loot and carry back but most of them seemed more invested in wrecking my kitchen and Smashing additional walls... while some just stood outside the building, seemingly getting stuck.
      But these soldiers? damn.. I´m close to compare their hp to that of the boss Crocodile close to newbie river

    Hey I got a question. Does your old style purge wall defense still work? The one with the palisade walls under the trap doors?
    I haven't been on since the old purge style and your palisade walls were always my "go-to" style as my perimeter walls. Jumping back in from scratch and hoping it still works.

    Build Design is nice, but the expenses and income of this new purge system is ridiculous in my opinion. You risking so much to get very little (drop chance thralls, gear etc.) it's not worth it, especially on a pvp server.

    What type of fence is that? The one where the thralls can still attack behind it. I tried black ice fence and the thralls seem not to be able to hit with spears while behind it.

    Question, i tried the same degsin with the fence foundation and the normal fondation, but for some reason, my thralls always glitch out of the fence foundation. Do they need a celling above them to stay in place?

      ikr...With all the hype of AoW1 and the threat of all that was played up to be, I gathered gold and trinkets. Loot was to be tradable to defend against the powerful Stygi.
      Built high up mountain top loot rooms and defenses of double walls and quad doors. Fearing a full on assault of my bases and pending doom.
      Low and behold, we are told to build our loot rooms in the middle of the desert, with minimal amounts of obstructions. To make it easier for the looters.
      They cant clear land for them selves, cant climb , cant swim, and don't use trebuchet. They don't tame pets.
      Hold the door open for them. And what ever you do don't use 80% of the map.

    Does the camps still spawn if your base is surrounded by other peoples bases how does it work

      If purge can find a place to camp, yes, but not if purge can't.

      Agree that the rewards arent worth it, but it is enjoyable to fight wave after wave of enemies whenever I want.

      yeah, new content that had no purpose. i had hoped maybe the mod community would do something and make it worth it. i mean if you play on official servers with no mods, what are you doing? vanilla game is trash. go play valheim at least

    This is too hard and tiring. It would be easier to design a small maze, 1 round of 30 minutes, without any loss at all. Using bugs in the volcano would be faster, 2 rounds of 10 minutes at the same time.
