So to explain Larson's win at IMS, the NASCAR rule is that if a caution comes out before the white flag, if caution laps complete the remaining normal amount of laps (eg. caution comes out with 4 to go and 5 caution laps before restart) then the restart will be reset at 3 laps to go. This continues as many times as necessary until the leader takes the white flag at which point the next flag ends the race whether it's the checkered or another caution. Why you may see some controversy there is because when Keslowski's No. 6 ran out of fuel, Larson moved up in line as the rule states, but the Blaney's No 12 was the control car as he was in 2nd but he had so little time to change strategy that Larson got a better launch. SMT data later showed that Blaney was starting in 2nd gear while Larson started in 1st which accounted for the better launch.

Some backstory on the bowman win: his last win was last vegas in 2022 exactly 80 races ago, after that later in the season he had a concussion which sidelined him for 4 races. In the 2023 season he was off to a good start and then disaster struck. He had a shattered vertebrae from a sprint car crash in which he flipped 19 times. This season has been a rebound season because last season was pain.

My driver, Chase Elliott could’ve won at Pocono but the darn speeding penalty ruined it.

Favorite driver is Chase Briscoe. His first Xfinity series win was the only race I ever got my girlfriend to watch with me and, unfortunately she passed away a few months later so when I needed a new driver, it made too much sense.

all of the nascar teams are, ross chastain and daniel suarez in trackhouse racing, austin cindric, ryan blainey, and joey logano in team penske, austin dillon and kyle busch in richard childress racing, josh berry, noah gragson, chase briscoe, and ryan preece in stuart haas racing, kyle larson, chase elliott, william byron, and alex bowman in hendrick motorsports, brad keselowski and chris buescher in roush fenway keslowski racing, corey lajoie, zane smith, and carson hocevar in spire motorsports, denny hamlin gets complicated because he co owns 23 11 racing, with him bubba wallace, and tyler reddick in that team, but he also races for joe gibbs racing with martin truex jr, ty gibbs, and christopher bell, justin haley is the only car in rick ware racing, daniel hemric is the only driver in kaulig racing, harrison burton is the only driver in the wood brothers, micheal mcdowel and todd gilliland are in front row motorsports, john hunter nemecheck and erick jones are in legacy motor club, ricky stenhouse jr is the only car in jtg daugherty racing, that is all of the nascar teams currently

32:58 actually no, they’re on different teams. Reddick is on 23XI (Toyota) and Gibbs is on Joe Gibbs Racing (Toyota). 23XI does have a technical alliance with JGR which makes sense since Denny Hamlin co-owns 23XI but drives for JGR. Both cars have Monster Energy sponsorship though. Monster is one of the few companies that sponsors multiple drivers even with different car manufacturers. They also sponsor Riley Herbst who drives a Ford in the Xfinity series.

man it’s tough watching that Brickyard 400 back hahaha, what they don’t really show in the highlights is that Blaney got absolutely cheated out of a win by NASCAR’s insane, lacklustre officiating, and Reddick also got screwed out of a really solid shot at the win too. Was the first time that I’ve ever seen the entirety of NASCAR Twitter on the same page after a controversial race ending 🤣 The restart should’ve been called off after Keselowski ran out of fuel and Blaney assumed the lead, but it wasn’t, which gifted Larson the preferred lane for the restart; then Larson accelerated marginally before Blaney launched even though Blaney was the control car, which should’ve been a restart violation for Larson, but wasn’t, and then on the final restart when Preece spun and his car stalled, they should’ve thrown a caution for a car stopped on the racing surface, which would’ve given Reddick a chance at a front row restart with a slightly faster car than Larson, but instead they waited nearly a full lap, until after Larson had taken the white flag, to throw the caution, confirming Larson as the leader straight away as it was on the last lap. Then NASCAR’s Senior VP came out claiming that by the time they had determined Preece was stuck and they needed to throw a caution, Larson had already crossed the line, which Denny Hamlin brought up on his podcast and said that the Senior VP was lying through his teeth and that they had at least 20 or so seconds to make that call and just chose not to 🤣 Such a ridiculous, messy way to go into a two week break on NASCAR’s part lmao

LENGTHY COMMENT WARNING. In order from race to race to answer some questions that you had or things that the highlights missed:
Nashville it didn't look like the highlights included it, but Carson Hocevar retaliated against Harrison Burton, spinning him under caution. Hocevar was penalized points and fined.
Nashville also tied the record for most overtime finishes in a NASCAR race at 5, the most ever for the Cup Series. I actually did write a column on this because of the criticism some had over the number of overtime attempts.
To explain the overtime rules, if a caution waves before the leader takes the white flag, NASCAR will extend the race and restart with 2 to go. This stems from frustration in the late 1990s/early 2000s of races ending under caution and the end of racing back to the caution, which was a safety issue. Since Indianapolis in 2004 NASCAR has had several different versions of the overtime rules, from 3 attempts to 1 attempt to a predetermined overtime line (which tracks often didn't paint on the track) to the current unlimited attempts. IF the caution waves after the white flag is taken, the field is frozen and the race ends under caution.
The different camera angles are a result of the move from FOX Sports to NBC Sports for the second half of the season.
The trucks blowing water off the track at Chicago are the Air Tundras. They've been used by NASCAR (and IndyCar) for about 6-7 years now and they work with Jet Dryers, which have been used for several decades now. They often help get the track dry in a matter of 1.5 to 2.5 hours depending on the track (size, surface, and banking are factors). In this case, they were simply being used to clear the standing water to limit/prevent hydroplaning.
Although SVG crashed at Chicago in the Cup race, he won from the pole in the Xfinity race (comparable to F2) the day before. That was SVG's 3rd Xfinity win and his second from the pole.
Joey Hand is actually a Ford driver from IMSA Sports Cars. This was a one-off start for him in a 3rd RFK Racing car.
The pit road speeding penalty at Pocono for Chase Elliott that someone else mentioned in a comment was Elliott's first pit road speeding penalty in this generation of Cup car which debuted in 2022. It was also his first in 92 points races.
What happened at Indianapolis is that NASCAR saw Ryan Preece pulling away. Unbeknownst to NASCAR when Preece stopped it wasn't that he stalled but he ran out of fuel. Although there are officials that typically monitor radio communications, it happened so fast that NASCAR didn't get to wave the yellow until after Larson had taken the white flag. Several others also ran out of fuel within the next lap or two including Bubba Wallace and Corey LaJoie.

my favorite Driver is Larson (it used to be Jimmie Johnson but he has since mostly retired obviously).. Driver I can't stand is Bubba, reason is he cries about everything and thinks he can do no wrong ever.

Also I don’t know if you’ve heard but Stewart haas racing which currently has the 4 josh berry, 10 Noah gragson, 14 chase Briscoe, 41 Ryan Preece is shutting down at seasons end gene haas will still have a team called haas factory team it will be a single car team with coke Custer driving, josh berry has been announced as the new driver of the iconic wood bros 21 replacing Harrison Burton who’s been awful, Noah gragson has been announced for front row Motorsports which currently has Gilliland and McDowell who will leave for spire next year, Briscoe has been announced as the new driver of the 19 for Gibbs replacing truex who will retire after this year and tbd on Preece not a lot of people are expecting him back in cup next year
It sucks for everyone at the team not just the drivers, I hope everyone can find a new home on another team
Pronounced la joy. He is out for next year. I like to see Kyle Bush to win a race this year. He has won for 19 straight races and a shame to see that record broken. I would like to see Hamlin win a championship. With 54 wins he deserves a championship. I root for Josh Berry. It is his rookie year so he is still learning and with a team that disbanded at the end of this year, so not much help there and he still runs near the top. Lagano is still the one I want to seee lose. Chastain or Reddick I like to see win also. WOuld like to see Martin Truex win in his final year. So many good stories and intersting drivers I just cannot have only 1 favorite. By the way. Can you watch the Xfinity race at Indy? Best last 2 laps of the year.

Nascar started using jet engines mounted to eather a truck or a trailer to dry the track in 1976. They upgraded to the air titan system. Witch is compressed air squeegeeing the water off the track. It drys the track faster than the jet dryers.
I saw a jet dryer blow micheal waltrips car cover off at bristol during a rain red flag when i was there.
Well all i could find was the internet says the top speed at chicago was 90mph but i think thats might be the average speed. They gotta be going faster than that.
If you wreck at pocono, theres a chance your gonna wreck BIG! LIKE that race car is going to the junkyard big wreck. Poor kyle bush is having the worst year of his career this year.
Pocono was for decades always the only oval the cup cars shifted gears lap after lap. Now with this generation of cup car they shift at about every track.
They were doing the indy road course the last 3 years. This year was the 30th anniversary of the 1st brickyard. So they went back to the oval.
Come to indy. You cant see the whole track like other ovals. If you can afford to somehow sit at the top of the pagoda. Then you got the best view. The upper deck in turn 1 is very popular. I was just wandering from 1 seat to another to make sure i could see most of the track. If you go to talledega bring binoculars. Turn 3 is a mile away from the front grandstands.

Favorite driver is Ryan Blaney and Brad keselowski. I watched Ryan's dad race when i was a kid driving the 93 car and Brad drives the 6 which is my all time favorite mark Martins original car for roush. Least favorite is Denny Hamlin and not the person hes actually pretty cool but cant stand him driving a race car
