Call of the Dead in particular is really cool, because Treyarch (the guys that did Black Ops 1) actually had George Romero help them with designing the map back in 2011. He appeared as an incredibly powerful boss enemy that would follow you around the map, going berserk if he was shot and hunting you down with a massive stage light until he either murdered you or you led him to water where he'd calm down. The map was re-made/re-imagined as the final Zombies map for Black Ops 4 in 2019, and while George didn't return as an enemy, his glasses were left on a table and you could interact with them. The COD Zombies storyline is extremely hard to explain but I absolutely love it and grew up with it and it basically did the multiverse before the MCU fully delved into it. This most understandable way I can explain these cutscenes is that a group of 4 survivors team up to survive a zombie outbreak and the player is led to believe that its just a game made up by these 2 children, Sam and Eddie. It fast fowards to a mysterious version of Richtofen coming through a portal and stealing a powerful artifact called the summoning key; he's recognizable but he's different and his intention is unknown. He was commanded by Dr. Monty (essentially Ms. Minutes from Loki) to go through time and to fix the multiverse, by destroying an alien race called the Apothicons and eliminating the other versions of themselves. This plan was all set out in a book that Monty gave him that tells him exactly what needs to happen. However, on their journey the doubts of the Primis Crew grows and they begin to lose trust in Richtofen and the book and he begins to doubt Monty as well, because one powerful being trying to use people as pawns to destroy another powerful being doesn't sit right with him, but he follows through with the plan anyways. They miraculously succeed by using the summoning key and creating a black hole that gets rid of everything they were fighting against, then Dr. Monty reveals that he was just using them and that they were no longer needed. This was thought to be the end by a lot of players... if it wasn't for Richtofen making a backup plan to create a branch that they could go back to if Monty ever double crossed them, after they collected Takeo's soul (you can see a teleporting animation after Takeo's death). Monty decided to drop them off in The Great War, but through the paradox caused by the blood viles, they could go back before Nikolai's death and find a different ending to the story. Richtofen knew what must be done because of the book, but now the pages have changed and he realizes the solution to fix the multiverse is not by beating the Apothicons, but by eliminating all branches in the multiverse in which these powerful being exist, including anything related to Dr. Monty and the Apothicons, and leaving them in one realm where they can be banished. There is one final caveat to this, in order to eliminate all connections to the multiverse Richtofen has to terminate one last connection... Himself. This was a moment that made me cry since it is a franchise I have played for a decade and there was no coming back from this moment ("He was the nicest one, and they wont even remember"). Templar Richtofen takes the rest of the Primis Crew to get some backup, and who else is better than themselves, so they go back and recruit the Ultimis Crew. In their universe Samantha has powers (almost like a Scarlet Witch) and even controls the zombies, like she did in her game, but she later turns good and loses connection to the zombies. With Nikolai as the new leader of the crew and Samantha on their side, they collect the final piece they need to fight the war and phone one last crew for help. The Victis Crew, previously seen in the beginning, was put on ice for this exact moment, where they could do the dirty work of combining all of the artifacts to end everything once and for all. Nikolai now had the book and knew what was next, so he held a celebration with everybody so they could have a good final send off. They drank until they all passed out and they died in their sleep; Nikolai had poisoned them so they would die happily. Oh yeah, Ultimis Richotfen is part zombie after he switched bodies with Sam on the Moon, so he had to be killed twice. Anyways, the deed was done, most characters were dead and the final pieces were put into place by Victis. There was no war, yet they fought it over and over again somewhere. With the summoning key destroyed, all the universes collapsed and were sent into the Dark Aether. Nothing was left, except for 2 young survivors, Sam and Eddie, and they walked into one final universe where there would be no more zombies, no more Apothicons, no more trouble. That is until.... Eddie grows up, and becomes the one and only Edward Richtofen. The story continues from there in Cold War and lets just say the competition between Sam and Eddie is much more than child's play now. Sam still has her powers and Eddie still has his tricks.
@@dangernoodle3343 They really were meant just for the story of BO2 and then were tied into everything at the end, like most of the obscure things in the zombies storyline. Richtofen used Victis to help him get control of the zombies, which was one ending to BO2, and then there was the Maxis ending. Maxis's ending seems more cannon but they are both considered non-cannon because it is in a different universe. I think it was basically to show that Richtofen couldn't entirely be trusted and may have had a different reason for the secrecy and mad doctor personality. Also the events the Victis crew set in place opened a rift allowing Origins to happen and Samantha to be able to reach out to Primis

I appreciate you guys for taking the time to react to video games and all these classics when call of duty world at war released back in either 2009 or 2010 and zombies dlc was added later on through its life span. I was between 8-9 years old when I experienced COD zombies for the first time and I played it consistently all the way through Black Ops 2 and black ops 3 somewhat. Black Ops 1 and 2 though... classic times 💯 I love you guys man! Making me reminisce
the first cod zombies game had Takeo the "serious" warrior / Tank the "bad ass" american soldier / Nikolai the "drunken russian with 40 wives" and Dr. Edward Richtofen the "insane german" they were goofy and Tank would occasionally talk to the player. In later cod games they stripped down the goofiness and made them all serious. Thats why in the cell scene the group already in the cell are a bit more goofy mostly nikolai with his vodka and edward with his unforgettable insane voice
I cry every time I see this cutscene, the ending of primis, the ending of a long story and universe of my childhood saying goodbye to characters I grew up playing as

The CoD: Zombies Aether timeline is a really good story to binge out. Personally the Aether cutscenes didn't explain enough, but here's a video that you could check out to fully understand the Aether timeline of CoD: Zombies. th-cam.com/video/cP0bQGrQZlc/w-d-xo.html Also post-Aether timeline, if you are wondering, starts in CoD: Black Ops - Cold War and I think it's not yet done and fully established itself.
There are two videos that do the Aether storyline explaining it. Both are very long. But it’ll make you understand more of the cutscenes. And also in order.
the story is partially explained in cutscenes. because all maps that were shown are very closely tied to each other. basically it's one hell of a complicated but amazingly interesting story to listen to
I actually really dig the silent reaction you guys do, not feeling the need to add things constantly cause you think we’ll get bored, I am entertained nonetheless
ok, for context on the trailer at 14:00 Demsi, Nikolai, Takeo, and Rictophen (may not have the spellings right lol) are one of the main two groups of people fighting the hoards, they're also technically the first group you get to know.
I loved seeing your guy's reaction to this but I can see that this story looks confusing just from a glance (aka watching the cutscenes) and while yes the story can be confusing it's not as bad as you may think. There are plenty of videos explaining what happens in the story, there's even one that is six hours long but goes into just enough detail about its universe and its characters. That six hour long video is the one I would recommend (but you should do it in parts), but there are ones that are not as long and they give you a decent look at the story. Again as someone from this community looking out it is cool to see people's reactions to these and I love watching your guy's reactions. Also the cod zombies story you reacted to is called the aether story, it has a sequel called the dark aether story which is also a good story.
We didn’t think the story was bad, especially since we knew w weren’t getting full story, mainly it was just tough to follow like this. Lot going on inbetween that we tried our best to piece together. An explanation video would be helpful for sure 😀
CoD zombies is one of my big obsessions, it's been with me throughout my teenage years and it's world story and lore is some of the most interesting, and stupidest of any games I've played. I am disappointed that some cutscenes music was edited so it wasn't as badass, and at 16:35 there's a fair bit missing that gives context for the rest of the cutscenes. For those interested I'll give the cliff notes: 4 people played by celebrities (Ron Pearlman, Jeff Goldblum, Neil McDonough, and Heather Graham) are branded with a mysterious mark because they sinned by murdering people close to them (This is shown in the intro cutscene to that map) They are guided by the shadowman but unleash that big tentacle monster thing and with the help of the keepers (that weird thing with all the teeth holding the macguffin orb) they kill it. That's when the cutscene starts. The other cutscene that gets interrupted right after has some stuff before it but it's mainly the other 3 members of the crew (Dempsy, Nikolai, and Takeo) trying to get Richtophen to so as they say but he opens the teleporter to reveal Richtophen (This all makes sense in the story trust me) after Richtophen shoots Richtophen he mentions that all he's doing, he's doing to secure a better tomorrow. I think I got it right, anyway loved the video like always and I agree with everyone that you should do a series checking out a full breakdown of the lore of the aether storyline, because it is some really interesting worldbuilding as well as a masterclass as to why handing the reigns of story writing to multiple people over the years is a bad idea.
The reason Nikolai took the main character role so late into the story is due to the fact that they'd gone through the timeline 3 different times. The final time, Nikolai was the only one that kept his soul. Richtofen from the 2nd cycle stopped this, hence giving him the book and telling him his soul would be needed. It was too late for Dempsey and Takeo as they had already taken their other selves in this cycle but with it broken. Nikolai was the only one capable of carrying out the remaining steps to finishing the job.
They go through the timeline a lot more than 3 times... All of the zombies chronicles maps are canon. All of the deaths the characters indure are canon. There's no telling how many times they went through at least as I understand it.
Ahhhh cod zombies holy smokes i remember when i was a 14 i played call of duty black ops religiously…and my biggest achievement then was reaching round 107 with my friend. We were high on excitements that day good times good times
wow, as somebody who followed the story since black ops 1 in 2010, i never realized how convoluted the story really was to newcomers, a reaction to the story explained is definitely recommended
The sectio with JFK takes place in the pentagon. Later we see the characters interacting with refrences to the map because they teleport to the pentagon a few days before during classified
Not sure why everything is all jumbled, but there is a video "movie" that explains it all in detail with game footage and sound that goes into great nearly perfect detail. It's 6 hours long, but if your interested it's perfect to break up into segments or watch all at once and get everything ypu need to know
this is cool seeing more people learning about cod zombies for the first time, wish the videos were in order, super jarring to hop from the first ever one to a video from a gamer later, then another game later, still cool though!

So the Victis still confuses me, what role did they play from the start?
44:13 I just wanted to let you guys know this trailer is a weird one but they were supposed to go to the moon but Dempsey shot a gun while teleporting which messed up everything and made them go into the pentagon
edit the girl with the teddy bear is Samantha she is in the evil state at the time
edit 2: the characters u see locked up were once at the moon after destroying the earth but then got teleported to area 51 before the events of the earth blowing up and they got locked up for questioning. but the 1 with the hat richtofen swapped souls with Samantha and started to control the zombies when the earth was blown up but since that event was stopped he was put back in his body
Black Ops 1 and 2 though... classic times 💯
I love you guys man! Making me reminisce
Quick refresher: Robert Englund portrayed Freddy Krueger in “Nightmare on Elm Street.” For the 2010 remake, it was Jackie Earle Haley.
LET’S GOOOOO. I’VE BEEN ASKING THIS FOR MONTHS 🔥🔥🔥 Thank you so much for this guys !!! What a fun video 💪😂
the first cod zombies game had Takeo the "serious" warrior / Tank the "bad ass" american soldier / Nikolai the "drunken russian with 40 wives" and Dr.
11:40 best line
I cry every time I see this cutscene, the ending of primis, the ending of a long story and universe of my childhood saying goodbye to characters I grew up playing as
12:50 man it is so weird hearing this video without Sheppard of Fire
Call of duty zombies was something I always grew up around, takes me back to when I was 11 and playing this with my cousin, now me and him are grown adults he's in the air force and I had a job at a deli but I was recently fired a week ago, but I always check up on my cousin to see how he is doing in the service
'"I was the nicest one...
And you won't even remember"
Most heart wrenching line in all of Zombies history.
You guys should watch a vid explaining the story, cause it’s really good, but also complicated, if you can’t do that, please listen to some of the cod zombies songs like 115 or beauty of annihilation, they created actual music to go with each map
Cod zombies was and still is my childhood, I remember when black ops 2 came out and I but probably 2000 hours in it with zombies alone
1:06:06 the dove you see flying up with the souls is actually weasel's soul, one of the prisoners from the first alcatraz map
I only knew this story up to the dimensional stuff. When I was a kid, piecing the OG story together was my obsession!
I’ve been waiting for this for so long! You guys should watch some of the maps music trailers. They are incredible
1:03:41
What Dempsey meant by DI was Drill Instructor for the army
25:47 Its complicated but yes they travel to loads of demensions but what you dont know is that its a cycle so they are going through the same thing over and over again until bo4
Zombie richtofen saying "I know and i am so sorry." Always hits me.
The CoD: Zombies Aether timeline is a really good story to binge out. Personally the Aether cutscenes didn't explain enough, but here's a video that you could check out to fully understand the Aether timeline of CoD: Zombies.
th-cam.com/video/cP0bQGrQZlc/w-d-xo.html
Also post-Aether timeline, if you are wondering, starts in CoD: Black Ops - Cold War and I think it's not yet done and fully established itself.
A zombie story we never expected that would end
Now this is right up my alley! You should Definitely react to the cod zombies maps trailers as well
There are two videos that do the Aether storyline explaining it. Both are very long. But it’ll make you understand more of the cutscenes. And also in order.
You both are fun to watch im happy i found your channel today keep the vidz coming 🙌🏽👌🏽💙
"That all works out perfectly" sends them to the backrooms
A reaction to their dialouge would also be cool, they have pretty funny lines
30:15 he was like whispering to Nikolai and telling him: hey your other self is a D... 😂😂😂😂😂😂( now thats funny LOL)
YEAH one another thing the German character is the same voice actor who did nathan drake.... fun fact
It's been years since I was in this universe, I was still in high school one of the reasons I got deep into a passion of gaming
Love the classic zombie so much, its so nostalgic now
the story is partially explained in cutscenes. because all maps that were shown are very closely tied to each other. basically it's one hell of a complicated but amazingly interesting story to listen to
I actually really dig the silent reaction you guys do, not feeling the need to add things constantly cause you think we’ll get bored, I am entertained nonetheless
ok, for context on the trailer at 14:00 Demsi, Nikolai, Takeo, and Rictophen (may not have the spellings right lol) are one of the main two groups of people fighting the hoards, they're also technically the first group you get to know.
This is a cool movie of cutscenes, in fact cod zombies is my favorite codverse, nice video reaction
Sorry if this response is kinda long and weird, I'm not too good at wording things :/
We didn’t think the story was bad, especially since we knew w weren’t getting full story, mainly it was just tough to follow like this. Lot going on inbetween that we tried our best to piece together. An explanation video would be helpful for sure 😀
I always love how in CotD Michael Rooker shoots 3 TIMES with one shotgun without reloading once
For those interested I'll give the cliff notes:
4 people played by celebrities (Ron Pearlman, Jeff Goldblum, Neil McDonough, and Heather Graham) are branded with a mysterious mark because they sinned by murdering people close to them (This is shown in the intro cutscene to that map)
They are guided by the shadowman but unleash that big tentacle monster thing and with the help of the keepers (that weird thing with all the teeth holding the macguffin orb) they kill it.
This video does a really good breakdown of the storyline, careful though it's a doozy th-cam.com/video/cP0bQGrQZlc/w-d-xo.html
I swear it would be easier to get a medical license then to understand the zombies lore
The Aether storyline is so good it should be made into a live action movie!
wow, as somebody who followed the story since black ops 1 in 2010, i never realized how convoluted the story really was to newcomers, a reaction to the story explained is definitely recommended
OMG YESS FINALLY, I'm so glad, I'm gonna watch all of this with excitement
Good memories. Nice job reacting to this classic
“Fill in the gaps of our understanding”, well in that case. *clears throat*, in the beginning…
After watching many videos i still have no clue but i one thing i do know is that the story is a master piece!
Damn watching the ending one made me tear up
The aether storyline will always be a great part of my life
The sectio with JFK takes place in the pentagon. Later we see the characters interacting with refrences to the map because they teleport to the pentagon a few days before during classified
Dempsey: Nikolay!
Nikolay: it's a Rechtoghfen......
Dempsey: we do this Nik...we do this...
Not sure why everything is all jumbled, but there is a video "movie" that explains it all in detail with game footage and sound that goes into great nearly perfect detail. It's 6 hours long, but if your interested it's perfect to break up into segments or watch all at once and get everything ypu need to know
Man that ending always make me tear up
Omg mob of the dead one of my favorite maps of all time
AMAZING. Honestly now u guys should look at the trailers for the individual maps of zombies
I will always remember that ending.
They all deserved better
this is cool seeing more people learning about cod zombies for the first time, wish the videos were in order, super jarring to hop from the first ever one to a video from a gamer later, then another game later, still cool though!
The bird from the souls releasing is actually the weasel from the first alcatraz cutscene
the thought that all this continues in the cold war zombies story line is awesome, soft reboot with an interesting story
Honestly this aether story was the best thing that happened in the call of duty zombies community. The amount of lore that was given to us to provide that story, it was amazing
- Johnny Smoak (In A Violent Nature)
Cod zombies has such a special place in my heart I found so many friends playing zombies online. Friends that I still talk with to this day I don’t play as much anymore but I cherish those memories. A couple of people have said the zombies story is very convoluted and complicated and I agree so please don’t be discouraged if you don’t understand it fully
Kennedy saying "Zombies" like it's an everyday occurance is normal.
.A piece of childhood, sometimes i miss those days
Feeling under the weather today this is making it feel like it's gonna be a good day
Call of duty never gets old dude
😎🤟
A lot of the story happens within the maps and audio logs, such as the earth getting destroyed in-game lol
Now you absolutely need to watch "the entire call of duty zombies storyline explained" by the TH-camr blackopsamazing. It's about an hour long I think he did a pretty good job explaining most of it without making it either too confusing or too oversimplified. It would be the perfect follow up video after this. I'm very happy you finally got into the cod zombies story. It's a little confusing but very interesting story.
"Pray to be... Stronger men" forever the only quote JFK could have made in the zombies story before being killed
