When you have wine left in a bottle, make ice cubes and then transfer to a freezer bag and use it for cooking. Whenever you need to sauté onions or carrots or other veggies, or mushrooms add a generous splash of wine, or 1 or 2 wine ice cubes after the liquid is evaporated, the sugars in the wine with help caramelise the veggies and add so much flavour. The alcohol will evaporate so it's ok for children too.
So smart! Thanks for the tip.
I do one bin at a time. I am a wheelchair user so everything needs to be in easy reach.
I love watching others declutter and organize. (My son always tells me I´m crazy. 😅) Maybe use one of the white bins to hide the candy up high. It will also look nice this way. Love from Germany
That would be a good way to keep me out of it too because I would forget I had it 😂
That was very satisfying to watch. I'm a lone pensioner, so my 'pantry' is one shelf of one wall cupboard. Still, I was horrified to discover the other day that almost all the spices and condiments I had in there were out of date...some by years. Lesson learned. Check at least once per year.
I reset about once a month.
Same here, a single retiree. One full shelf of food and a smaller fridge/freezer. I have enough for two weeks. I like to having nearly everything used up before I place a new online order.
Find a place that sells loose spices and buy what you'll need for a year. Much less waste, and you'll know it's fresh.
@@3TXSisters Good idea. Thanks.
@@suewright984 I certainly need to do it more often.
Great Job!! Good for you!! I’ve started forgiving myself for the state of my home. I do the best I can. It’s ok for you too!! I’m even Done with food guilt!! If food is old or my family doesn’t like it, then I’m throwing it out. My New Years Resolution….No more guilt about chores, mess, or decluttering. I just do the best I can. I love the One Hour Better. Don’t let Perfect be the enemy of Good. 🙏😊👍
I love this so much!
Thank you. I have to use a walker (need hip surgery) and it’s either pain or lack of energy that lets things pile up. When you can only stand 2 minutes before you have to sit down because of back pain it makes keeping up your home difficult. Thank you for sharing. I’m not complaining, just explaining. The good Lord takes care of me each and every day. Just so you know I’m retired and the only one in the house but I still feel guilty all the time. I know God gives us grace. I’m trying to embrace it. Shannon you don’t know how much you help people. Please don’t stop (but take care of you at the same time) 💐🙏🏻❤️
Great job Shannon, inspired me to get off my butt and do something. Thank you.
Love this!
Vegetable juice is a good base for minestrone soup! I once bought it by mistake, now it has become a staple in our meal rotation😊
Came here to say this!
I have also used it as the liquid when cooking a roast.
Part of the decluttering process is learning your style at this time of your life. I go through EVERYTHING when meal planning. I do not buy anything if if it not planned for the next two weeks. Stops food from sitting on my pantry shelf. It can stay on the grocery shelf until I have a definite plan to use it!!
I put my tea bags out of their packaging in glass canning jars that I label. Then all the jars go into a bin.
Fun fact about wine turned to vinegar: On our first date my now husband cooked for me. I was VERY nervous and there was a bottle of wine standing randomly on the table. I asked if I could have some, and then gullped it down in a desperate try to get tipsy and overcome my anxiety. You know where this ist going, right? YES. It was pure vinegar, and in my desperation I emptied half the glass before I realised. Well, at least the ice was broken, I didn´t feel so mousey anymore and we`re still laughing about that date today, 16 years later. Greetings from Luxembourg 🙂
😂😂 Thanks for sharing this, it gave me quite the giggle. Those are the best memories.
I thought it in the last video too but not sure if I commented. Your hair looks very lovely.... Does in this one too. You look very beautiful. 😊
So glad that you decided to do one shelf at a time. As soon as you said something about maybe pulling everything out I stopped what I was doing and stared at the TV just willing you to not do it that way. I was so proud of you when you worked through it and said, Nope, I won't do it that way. Way to go! I think you will like clear bins better.
I have similar bins 1 for our potatoes and 1 for onions. I started lining the bottom of the bin with a brown paper shopping bag. It has really helped them last longer.
Girl, that's a heck of a lot of beans!!!
I’m always so happy to see a new upload from you😊 I’m also happy to see your channel continue to grow as I’ve been watching you since you were in the 5,000’s….. keep up the great work!!
You’re an OG! Thanks for sticking with me 😍
I love you and your family..I love your videos..I just cleaned my pantry the other day and I catch my self opening the doors and just looking in😊
Have a blessed day 💗
Plus keep videos coming
Your pantry looks great! Now I feel motivated to do the same-I don’t have time this am to do the whole thing but I did work on one bin so I’ve got a little win under my belt. I can’t want for you to tackle that other closet you mentioned at the end!
For your teas, I will take one of the tea boxes that the individual packets come in and take off one of the long sides, so they can just stand up, but they have a little bit more edges than just being loose in your big clear bin. Old note card boxes also work really well for that and then I just combine the multiple flavors, but it helps them to have some thing to stand up in!
I do that with tea bags, alcohol wipes etc. it works great. I also saved beautiful nesting boxes one year from Harry and David. I use them for paper clips, lots of things.
Showing my support, but I can't watch quite yet! I've got food poisoning this morning 😭😭
I use only clear bins. If I can't see it, I don't have it. Took me 3 years o trying to organize my pantry to learn this 😂❤❤❤
You will LOVE clear bins! I like things contained but I need to be able to view what I have too.
Your penne pasta, roast some vegetables in olive oil, salt and pepper, make your pasta mix together. I use carrots, bell peppers, mushrooms, spinach and onions (if my middle son is not eating, kid hates onions, LOL). You can also easily add in a leftover protein. Also glad you put the crock pot at a lower level. I did the same things a few months ago, making life easier.
That sounds delish!
OMG...I thought the Scrub was a set of dentures!!!
I’m really glad I’m not the only one
Agree! 😂
Me too! Ha
So did I! I asked, "Why does she have her dentures on the counter?
They make “stair-step” organizers that are great for canned goods. You can see everything you’ve got.
I have a very low bed- 3”- in my small condo apt but am able keep some grocery items like small canned goods on shoe/boot box tops under there. I keep a list of what’s there updated inside a wall kitchen cabinet. EVERY bit of storage can definitely count! ❤
Get a teabox. They come in plastic, in wood, you have big ones that hold a lot of bags, and smaller ones. It's priceless. Doesn't cost that much either! And you will only need to open up a lid to get a bag of tea out; gone will be those boxes!
I think you're really one of the prettiest women I know, honestly.
I don't know what it is, but somehow you've got such perfect face.
😅
Also I love your personality/humour.
🥰
Shannon, you are so sweet and trying to make things easier for you and your family.
So cool you were in the path of totality. I was not but I think we were 97%. It was cool but I had a snarky kid. 🥴But also was glad I didn't try to drive to the path because what would have been way worse with the couple hours in the car. 😂😂😂😂😂
This was another bravo. Dana K. White would be proud of your decluttering choice to do one shelf at a time. You should store your wine laying on its side or the cork will dry out and break when you try to open it. See ya! X
Wow! Amazing love! Looks great I am very visual too. My pantry gets out of hand. One thing I do is tackle a shelf at a time. It makes it easier to start and usually I keep going. But even if I can just do a shelf or two it makes a big difference. I need to get in my deep freezer. I also need to start meal planning. I have a bunch of random canned goods I was given I want to encoroporate and use up.
Just what I needed to wake up to today - Thank you, Shannon - Have a great day!
You are having some great hair days!! So pretty!
Hopefully helpful hints ... I write the expiration dates in Sharpie on my pantry items (where I can read them). That helps me see what might expire soon and get it used, as well as making it easier to see if it did expire.
Mix/cook the pasta you don't like in with pasta you do. That way, it won't go to waste. 😊
Keep up the awesome decluttering, and thanks for the motivating videos!!
Great tips!
Happy Friday! I was wondering if you had seen the eclipse. So lucky that you were able to! I recently did a little reorganization in my pantry and I added hyacinth baskets and lazy susan organizers. Great job on yours! It’s always fun to watch your videos. Have a great weekend! 😊❤🐦
Well done looking good!! I am going trough my kitchen cabinet one shelf at te time. I find it keeps it manageable and I can do one when i have 5 min here or there
I'm watching this in breaks between cleaning out my own disaster cupboard. I'm so glad you put the crockpot where you can reach it! I've still got 2/3 of the space to do... I've done the easiest part. Like you, i managed to make some space!
Good job my friend!! Liked the 'best part, nothing hanging out the door' 😂😂Please, please, many more years...😘😘🙏
Nice job!! It's so nice having the crock pot where it's easily accessible. Also I'm realizing that watching cleaning videos probably isn't the best ideav while I'm sick 😅
So keep the bins but place them lower. Right now I’m doing a major clean/ overhaul of my house and I am determined not to spend a penny to do it. Not easy but I’m getting very creative and not going out and buying bins and gadgets and such is really kind of fun. Love your channel and you are just as cute as a bug! Today was the perfect time for this video, so thank you!
Looks wonderful! Great Job!!
I traveled a few hours to see the 2017 eclipse. I saw totality and it was amazing!!!
Love you Shannan. You are so inspirational! ❤ From Edmonton, Alberta, Canada
Good Morning! Great way to start my Friday 🎉 have a great weekend
I agree. Put the white bins in the lower shelves so you can see and other items up higher!! 😊👍🙏
I always choose you Shannon. Your videos are the only ones I watch faithfully and get excited when I see a new one posted. I appreciate your realness and can relate to 99% of your content and life lol. Thank you for sharing with us.
Wow, thank you!
Shannon, I really enjoy your videos. You are so real and you make me laugh! Have a beautiful day.
When you said “ the labeled bins, gave you a false sense of organization” I related to that so much.
You are so funny, Shannon! I belive pretty much all of us have made that decluttering mistake about 5 million times to be honest 😅😂
I’ve heard that about onions and potatoes together but I always keep them together anyway.
Great video! You are so motivating and I look forward to seeing all your videos!😊
Look awesome! Progress! ❤
You look amazing in that shade of pink! It suits you. Just wanted to suggest the Skinnytaste blogs Chicken and Lentil soup recipe to use up some lentils. It's really good- we add extra garlic and cooked spicy sausage in and serve with homemade bread.
I love skinnytaste! Thanks for the recommendation!
Great job! I just wanted to say that I store my beans in a round clear container so I know I have them and how many I have. Much easier when I'm making my grocery list too
You did a great job of organizing and decluttering your pantry!!!! It turned out so good and look at all the empty space you have. I can't wait for your next video.
That was honestly an amazing change. I don't know if you're aware of the difference in time of the tasks between the original pass throughs and the current go throughs? I might be wrong, but I think you are experiencing the benefits of consistent revisiting of spaces and the inevitable re-organsing that's required - it only took you two hours and you had a lot less expired items and you have an entire shelf for your appliances! Every time you fetch out your pots for use you'll be able to feel smug and content in the ease of use (well...that's what I do😂). Also I'm still enjoying your blue nail polish moment - absolutely gorgeous 😊
You should separate potatoes & onions
Suggestion for the chickpea pasta: under cook it by minuet or two, rinse the pasta really good under cold water, then warm it up in your pan of sauce over heat for a minuet or two.
We were not a fan of the chickpea pasta. I was glad I only bought one box to try.
I didn't get to see the eclipse- it was cloudy here all day!
I need to know how you make your own refried beans!!!
Literally cook in the pressure cooker for about 8-12hrs (you really can’t cook too long-I’ve tried). Season with salt, Cumin, garlic powder (and any other spices you want). Drain most of the water out (set some to the side just in case it’s too thick) and use an immersion blender to blend it all up. If it’s too watery I put in a large skillet and heat on medium to evaporate excess moisture.
Add spices after you drain the water. If you want to add fat back into it for extra flavor use bacon grease 😋
@@LeafLikeOnATree thank you very much!!! 😀
Looks great!!😊❤
I always procrastinate cleaning my pantry, but it’s so satisfying to look at it organized like a store shelf.
Great job, Shannon! I have to say it is a challenge to get things in and out of my pantry. Mine is probably smaller, actually. It has a small door on it, making it hard to fit inside. Thanks for this video, cause i need to organize mine again. Hopefully, I can get started as my cabinets need a refresh also.
This is great!!!!
Penne pasta with sausage, peppers, and onions. Add some Italian dressing and cheese sauce. So yummy. You could mix this up with different veg and flavors.
I definitely would recommend shelf by shelf over pull everything out. Pull everything out creates too much of a mess.
I decluttered my bathroom closet and under the bathroom sink the last 2 days. I got rid quite a bit of stuff which is great😅. Your pantry looks great! Have a great weekend!😊😊😊
I love this concept. There are so many videos of how to create a great pantry and adding in more organisation but few that actually come back to revisit how it went months down the track. I do think you need to hide the chocolates and snacks in those white tubs so no one knows they are there.
We saw the total eclipse, too! It was amazing! As for the penne, you can’t go wrong with some Italian sausage and marinara sauce. You could also put it in a casserole with like beans, taco meat and topped with cheese. I know the chickpea kind can get a little mushy but it tastes fine when mixed into a casserole 👍
Hello Shannon. I store my potatoes and onions together too. I haven't noticed anything either and I've been doing it for many, many years. I really enjoy your videos. You inspire me a lot. I wish you could post more often, but I understand why you can't. You and I have a lot in common. Have a wonderful day. God bless.
Bravo, Shannon!!!
Awesome! I do love the clear bins. Makes the space look bigger and you can what you’ve got. 👍🍀
Great job
for teas cut the lid of the box and u can see the teas and reach it quickly . u can seperate them from each other stacking them side by side boxes
Nice job!!!
We only had to drive 2 hours to see the total eclipse, well worth the drive! I was skeptical when my husband said we should go but he was so right about taking the day to do it. That ring around the moon was almost sparkly!
Oh boy, I bet a majority of your viewers were shaking their head no when you were talking about emptying the pantry completely. So thankful you decided to do one shelf at a time. I enjoy your videos!
Winner winner chicken 🐔 dinner! Small success can feel so good!!
You could use one of the solid white containers to keep candy. That way it’s hidden and the kids can’t see it.
Wow, your crock pots are so pretty! And a "recipe" for pasta: if I want something quick, I put pesto and parmesan on it (one could also mix pasta with sauce, chicken put cheese on top and bake it in the oven).
Happy Friday! Loving this series 😊
Blast those labels with a hair dryer to heat up the adhesive and they’ll peel right off.
Loved experiencing the total eclipse, drove 6 hours and was so pleased there were no clouds. ❤
It was cloudy here too! I was so nervous, but amazingly they parted perfectly for us to enjoy
We only had 50% in SoCal, but I dug my eclipse glasses out and watched it. The closest I ever came to totality was in 1970 in western PA. I think it was around 90%. Very cool, I still remember it!@@LeafLikeOnATree
Here in Waco, the eclipse was amazing! The clouds parted two minutes before it began. The whole neighborhood cheered when it hit total. When it was over, fireworks were set off.
I need to go through my pantry too 😅 One shelf at a time is definitely the way to go!
I keep onions in my fridge. They don't make me cry that way too. ☺️
Pantry looks great.
I feel so motivated to tackle my pantry. Although I do it frequently, I mostly just rearrange stuff, stand it up neatly and put the bins back. I think it is time to actually get rid of some things. I do use clips to close up open bags, but things still go stale…. Most noticed by the taste test.
Tea organizers are cute.
I had just done my pantry last week... Everything gets so jammed in when we are in a hurry. You always make me smile. love your videos.. Thanks you.
One good use for tomato/V8 juice is as a base for a batch of chili or soup (such as stuffed pepper soup). We don't drink it as a juice either. Lol
Thank you and take care!
Love your hair !
Thanks for the motivation. 🙂
Thanks for taking us on this declutter journey with you. I do need to go through my pantry. It’s definitely not just one and done. I’m still moving things around.
We were also in the path of totality in Niagara Falls. It was so cool (literally and figuratively) when it went dark and it even triggered the streetlights to come on for a few minutes.
P.S. The can of apple sauce might stack better on top of the cranberry sauce.
Great job! Right now I’m trying to reorganize my craft room. What a job that is! You’ve given me ideas for the pantry. I love your videos!
Great!
Oreo double cream for the win. :p ;) Just ordered me a boatload LOL Just a couple a day, afternoon, with a nice hot cup of coffee. Yep. I love my little moments.
Looks great! I recently bought some clear bins for my pantry as well as turntables for my canned goods, one for soups and one for fruit/veggies and it has been a huge improvement.
I enjoyed your video. Down to earth, totally relatable. 😊 Now I'm pumped for some spring cleaning/purging/organizing at our place. 🌞
Hi Shannon! Great job on the pantry! So jealous - I wish I had one! Also absolutely love your videos! 👏😉🥰
I have been meal planning by shopping the pantry and freezer, first. I've been able to use up older stock and then when we restock, I know what things we shouldn't buy again and to limit what we buy ahead. A meatless meal once or twice a week saves a lot. Beans and rice together make a complete protein. Canned green chilies are an inexpensive ingredient to add a lot of flavor.
That looks so nice. And doing it shelf by shelf didn't get paralyzing! I bet that feels so good. I love the feeling after I've decluttered something even if it's just a drawer or two.
Love all your videos. I wish I had a pantry instead of a few 11 inch deep shelves 😮❤
