  • My trip from Norwich to the Scottish Highlands in a classic car (Mk1 MG Midget) continues. Only some short runs in this out on an evening run to Culloden Viaduct, the Clara cairns make an appearance and my wife's very enthusiastic school friend, a joy to take in a car I am passionate about, joins me on a couple of runs. Drumnadrochit, Loch Ness and Urquhart Castle all feature. Plus some distant bag pipes

I took my 1932 Morris Minor two-seater up to the Highlands, from Worcestershire via Rutland, in June. I covered 1,187 miles over 8 days in 28 degree heat and the little car just did it. I averaged a little over 30mph (maxing at about 40-45mph (don't want to overstress a 91-year-old two bearing crank engine)) and covered as much as 240 miles a day (the most I did on a single day but mostly around180-200 miles). A 1960s Midget is definitely a car I'd love to own. The original M.G. Midget, the 1929 M-Type, was effectively a sports-bodied 1928 Morris Minor.

Fantastic adventure and a superb achievement. Worcester via Rutland (almost my neck of the woods) and onwards to the Highlands absolutely brilliant 👍
      May both our adventures continue
All the very best Johnny 👍

@@johnnywarnerperfectroad66 I was over in Norfolk and Suffolk in the little Morris in June last year. I've managed to do 10,000 miles over the past three years. I'm hoping to take it to France next year, so I'm clearly as mad as a hatter 😆

I love the car myself and the Inverness area certainly is gorgeous. We're lucky in the UK having some wonderful, varied and lovely places👍

@@johnnywarnerperfectroad66 You do indeed! Tip, if you do, pop into the Whitebridge Hotel. Quirky, but excellent, and a warm welcome.
