Northern Sharp-shinned Hawk Attacks and Takes Off With European Starling

This morning I heard what sounded like an injured animal outside of my window. It turned out to be a Northern Sharp-shinned Hawk (rare) attacking a European Starling. They were first in a bush (I think the starling was trying to hide). Then the hawk managed to get it on the ground, which is when I finally got my camera. It's awesome to see nature up close like this. The amount of weight the hawk can lift is amazing! It was also -9 degrees F with 30mph winds outside at the time. Brrr!
