I worked at an Oldsmobile/GMC dealer in Woodlawn, Ohio (Cincinnati) in 1976/1978 that sold these beautiful Motorhomes. So cool. So smooth. I remember that several units that were sold had engines swapped out for 1968/1969/1970 Oldsmobile Tornado 455's. These were pre emission engines that have a bunch more Horsepower/Torque. Made a huge difference in the driving experience. Thanks for posting. Good luck with your sale.
Glad you enjoyed the video, and YES, this one has that 455 from the Oldsmobile Tornado. AND now I added Doug Thorley Ceramic Headers with Magna Flow Premium Performance Welded Stainless Steel Mufflers. You can feel more power putting the pedal down with those modifications!! Looking for a new owner who will appreciate the unique situation with a good condition interior, exterior and engine...along with the unrenovated aspect. It's definitely a special experience stepping back to 70's decor.
You do have a real nice Unit. Our son bought a 1973 in 2023 and the former owner who is now 83 wanted a little more power for going up hills,so he had a 500 CC Cadillac engine and our son also had all the original papers and the repair bill for having this Cadillac engine rebuilt and the total bill for all the new parts and labor was $ 3,550.00.He also shared a interesting story of Hank Williams Sr,that he has old photos.record and other memoribilla from the 1950`s that he found in the mountains that his dad in-law aquired from Nashville on the GMC page, parts 8 & 9.Steve Groot.
My personal opinion. I've always believed these particular vehicles, were the one O one of Motors Homes! This one looks to be worth every cent of the 45 G. Good luck with the sale.
Can get so much more mod cons for that price today…full off grid style with ensuite, washing machine and up to date technology is where it’s at when comparing figures.
Nice low center of gravity and unlike what some accuse further below...those parts don't rust. 🤓 GM engineers built the chassis custom for the RV shell, not taking a truck chassis.
Yes it was! It's made several appearances in Hollywood. Stripes, Anchorman 2 and Ozzy was filming his reality TV show out it for a while too. You feel like you're in a movie when you're out with it!
Consider the uniqueness of having an antique like this, an American automobile and RV Icon, not renovated, but yet in great condition. I beg to differ...and hope to see what the open market will offer for it, using RV Trader. Keep your eye out and tell others who might appreciate it! Cheers!
So since I live in California, it would cost me to fly out there and make a decision and then have it either driven or shipped back what’s your bottom line on that just to make a sale? I understand it needs some TLC, etc. in California. We have to smog anything, newer than 1975 and that just sucks and now they’ve increased the requirements to a full safety check including removing all your wheels and checking your brakes. It’s just ridiculous out here.
The good news for you is that it would seem that this 1974 GMC would allow you to bypass that inspection in California, if it is true that it is required for any vehicle "newer than 1975". I have antique plates on it here in Virginia and it gets me out of annual taxes and any yearly inspection required for other vehicles. The bottom line is that I could get more for it if it were already in California or Florida. But it's here in Central Virginia...about 2 hours from Dulles airport. There is room for negotiation, but I just posted it on #GMCRVforsale.com this week and will be promoting it more now that I've overcome my hesitation to selling it. Other experts in the market of GMC motorhomes agree that the value is in the range of $45,000 (+/-$5k) for the right enthusiast, looking for an unrenovated, good-condition, ready-to-hit-the-road GMC motorhome...and yes, screaming the 70's inside and out!
Yes, or maybe I should say for sale again. I posted this and then really hesitated selling it and life got in the way. I'm planning to post on RV Trader to gather more serious interest, but email me if you are interested.
@@jasontomica8938 If you want mine at $ 25 000, I am a seller. It is a Transmode with a rear door and tastefully made interior by a professionnal carpenter. Why do you say that's a rust bucket. Explain to me cause I was gonna buy one used. I don't want to get ripped off. Can you please tell me why they're a rust bucket. Have you had experience with these motor homes

Definitely ahead of their time. I live in Australia but I've never seen one here. I'd like to have one.
My grandparents had one here. I’ve also seen one sitting in a yard (still there, been a few years too).
50 great years ❤
50 yrs later, its still way ahead of the competition
indeed! It might not be polished like an airstream or other newer models, but it has a hell of a lot more character!! I love driving it!
The GMC Motor Homes Were Built Great & Great To Live & Travel In. This One Looks Great. always, Tommy🤠
We love our 77 palm spring.
Excellent video. Also, I enjoyed the voiceover work. Very relaxing to watch
I still want one. ❤❤❤

The upper belt outside panels are aluminium. Lower ones are fiberglass, like the front ,roof and rear...

I think I remember a special rounded rear window on a specific model. Anyone have any info on this

Is this still for sale ?
Yes, or maybe I should say for sale again. I posted this and then really hesitated selling it and life got in the way. I'm planning to post on RV Trader to gather more serious interest, but email me if you are interested.
still got it?
email me about it if you're interested !
Has it sold?
Not yet, ...and did I mention it has great propane heat for colder nights ?
With all due respect, I think the asking price is way too high!!! I own a 1977 26 ft in similar condition.
How much did you think he should sell it for maybe twenty five k

I also own a 1977 But something is worth whatever someone is willing to pay for it.
I would pay that.... probably half the price then the crap that's out there now
El consumo de gasolina tiene que ser una ruina...
This thing screams 1970s.
I discovered these campers by Ben 10
That's no ordinary RV that's rustbucket

@jasontomica8938 they're made out of aluminum and fiberglass -- the opposite of a "rust bucket"!
@@jasontomica8938 Check the frame, that's all. The rest does not rust.

Hard to imagine that this was at one time, the epitome of luxury in the RV industry. You give it to me for free today, no thanks 😊.
Yeah, though state of the art in 1974, it's almost laughably out of date compared to modern RVs.
over priced
