@@stagelinedpro yes, two books were presented to mr. Suzuki by Mr. Miyazaki, How to live and Lost things. If I remember correctly he asked which book would be good to be made a film and Suzuki immediately said the BoLT. It seemed Miyazaki already knew that HtL couldn’t be made into a ghibli film. I cannot comment on BoLT because I haven’t read it yet. Did you like the book?

What do you think about this movie's relation with The Book of Lost Things By John Connolly? It was sited as an inspiration in the credits.
