Light triggers are straight up arcane magic, it's insane how effective they are compared to anything else, at least for me. When I was a kid, riding in the backseat late at night was my favorite because of all the car headlights and streetlamps. I never got asmr from it until personal attention was added to the mix on youtube though. I hate being instructed to follow it, I just let my eyes stare at the asmrtist the whole time until the lights make me close my eyes and then I'm knocked out. Many creators don't do it right at all, but Abby is great and Eliza is the goat for this. I'm thankful it's a popular trigger these days because my other biggest one (muffled soft speaking) is not. Thanks for coming to my ted talk.
So interesting with the car headlights and streetlamps! I also don't tend to follow the light, or follow any instructions really - it's usually just when being asked to do something that triggers my ASMR. Thanks for sharing!
Light triggers are my go to ASMR at night. The light makes my eyes heavy and makes me sleep better. Sometimes I don't make it to the end of the videos before I start falling asleep.
I hadn't seen light triggers until I found your channel about 2 years a go or something. And now they're the one thing that always help me fall asleep. Combined with whispering is just 🤌🏾
I think why we like light triggers is because it feels more interactive. Like when an ASMRtist does other things like typing or measuring, we cant actually feel it. But we can feel our eyes constricting in response to the bright lights. I think the lights work psychologically by constantly distracting us just enough to not think. Or at least enough to interrupt our thoughts. lights have a physical and psychological response. And thats why we're obsessed with them 😂❤
21:57 to 22:20 is the most tingly I've ever gotten from ASMR. For want of a better word, the "boop" gesture with the light is amazing. I had to keep rewinding!
As a child I have always been fascinated with lights and the effects they had on eyes. It was never in an ASMR sense until very recently (I found your channel end of 23). But, I would take flashlights and shine them in my eyes as a child just as an experiment to see how it affected my vision. Now that I found this channel and your light triggers that same fascination with shining lights in my eyes has a deeper purpose with a little guidance.
Light triggers perfectly make sense in ASMR. It helps me with sensory integration like a part of my therapy in autism. Light triggers are awesome and you do it great ✨
Light triggers are among my favourites. I actually searched for light triggers and your channel was the first result and I am so glad for that recommendation. The algorithm really knows the top quality content.
I have been watching/listening to ASMR videos for over a decade now. I didn’t know I like light triggers or that they were even a thing that existed until I discovered your channel a few years ago. It was a light trigger video and I was instantly in love with them. Like you said, it very much is partly the personal attention and close examination aspect that I am drawn to. But, it is also very specifically the flitting in and out of bright light and whatever it does to how my eyes focus. I really like the black on black aesthetic of the scene for this video. It is easily among your best work. I particularly enjoy the simple instruction paired with the lights, it clears my mind to give in and follow simple commands. I always find the time to watch each of your light trigger videos at my desk on an HD monitor so that I can melt into my chair.
I have always assumed that light triggers make us sleepy because our eyes are moving in the same motion as they do in REM. I believe that it helps our brain process the stimulus from the day, making us sleepier. It’s one of my favorite snd these are always my go to at night!
I enjoy light triggers because of that moment when the light shines bright when it is directly in front of the camera. That small moment when there is that flare effect is what gives me tingles.
I think light triggers work really well since it's inciting your eyes to react to something, not necessarily you having to also actively look at it. The act of feeling my eyes un-dialate sends a unique tingle
Tbh i hated light triggers in the beginning i was like how does someone wants to get a bright light right in the eyes. but now its one of my favorite triggers. I always get tingles in the back of my head and sometimes all the way down my back from it. And whispers is also one of my favorite. So this is great😁
I love light triggers as part of roleplays. The aspect of instructions and positive affirmations, but also the detailed personal attention as you said.
Light triggers are mysterious. I myself can't sleep without putting on a light trigger of some kind to watch. Especially yours, I always save you to my watch later so I can fall asleep to your light triggers. I think it makes my eyes heavy, the work of following the light, or your pupils being dilated causing your eyes to grow heavy and sleepy. But I am unsure past that. Thanks for another amazing video!
I've watched whispering, hypnosis and ASMR videos for probably 15 years at this point (way before it was even coined as "ASMR"). Needless to say I've almost become immune to tingles at this point, but light triggers are one of the only triggers left that can still give me tingles. I especially like it on my second monitor while I'm working, when the light hits my peripheral vision it just feels so good.
It's hard for me to explain why I love light triggers so much but they are my #1 favorite trigger in terms of enjoyment but also in terms of them effectively relaxing me and putting me to sleep! I can even get tingles from lights alone!! I think for me, I really need the engagement of visuals with my ASMR to fully grab my brain. Otherwise my thoughts start to wander and I might get distracted. With a visual and audio combination I get locked in so my head empties out and I can fully relax and sleep. And there's just something about lights that are both entrancing and exciting but also warm and comforting.
Compared to other triggers, in video format, I think light triggers feel the most realistic. I can tell you’re not really touching my face, or ears, etc., but shining a light looks about the same in the video as it would in real life. Makes me feel like I’m there. I love other triggers too, but light triggers are the most reliable. And one of the things I love about your channel! You do the best at them! 😍😌
I guess on paper, it would seem counter-intuitive to relax while lights are shining in my eyes ... but the interactive element of someone moving the lights and addressing/instructing me is what re-directs my brain away from whatever I'm stressing over and, instead, calms me. Also, I've had horrible eyesight all my life, and, as a result, have been going to Ophthalmologists for as long as I can remember. And even as a very young boy, I always found the visits to their exam rooms to be extremely calming. Your use of light triggers in your eye exam videos are my all-time favorites, so this format is absolutely perfect for a mid-week session!! Thank you, Abby!
Thank you for sharing!! That's so funny, I also went to an eye exam not too long ago and I remember not wanting it to end! But of course, I hope your eyes are in good health and that you don't need too many medical visits :) I appreciate your support!
@@AbbyASMR I was just talking to my best friend about this yesterday, and he said that he absolutely dreads going for his annual eye exam and can't wait to get out of the chair! He went as far as equating it to going to the dentist! Your experience definitely sounds closer to mine than his! Its so interesting how differently people react to the same thing. (And you're quite welcome, but the appreciation is all on this side for all of your time & work making this great content!)
i agree with you, light triggers are one of my favorites and it reminds me of going to my eye doctors and when theyd use the flashlight it made feel so relaxed. With your whispering and light it made me feel a lot of asmr tingles!!
Light triggers are my favorite! I can't say exactly why but I find them so relaxing!!! Maybe it's that we focus on a point that contrasts with the dark background and as you say the personal exam but WoW! I love it! And with your voice that’s kind of Magic ✨
I love your wide array of lights!! I think the reason I like light triggers so much is, like you said, the personal attention, but I’ve also worn glasses since the 3rd grade and have always liked the “light in the eyes” part of the exam. 😄🤷🏼
I love light triggers I find them relaxing and I love how some Asmr artist make it fun instead of just follow the light or stare at their nose the whole time
it makes sense with the fact of how a bright light can be relaxing but it just works. for me light triggers are more effective for sleep and other forms are more just for tingles and relaxing
Really liked the part starting from 21:47 where u pull away the light quickly after shining it directly at the camera from up close! Great video as always!
Girllll I love you so much, I didn’t come across your channel until my friend said I kinda looked like you and we had the same name she said your my “ASMR artist look alike” 😂 but you bring me so much comfort and your ASMR is amazing, love you girlie and no matter what anybody says about what you do or don’t do just do you we all love you to deathhhhhhh❤️❤️❤️
Light triggers are my all time favourite ASMR triggers, it tingles my eyes (if thay makes any sense) and it relaxes my head. Plus, my eyes feel heavy after a good BRIGHT light video, I immediatly sleep (with soft spoken or whispering voice) People just won't understand that and easily judge (which makes me sad)
Always happy to see light triggers! It’s like a hypnotic effect, I guess. I’m not really sure how to describe it. Another commenter mentioned watching street lights at night on car rides and I also experience a similar relaxation effects. Eye exams also have a relaxing nature as well and for the longest time, I didn’t really understand why until I found out what ASMR was.
Peripheral vision light triggers relax me most. It's a similar feeling to when you are in a car or on a train and just watch the surrounding pass fast. Following the light gives me something to do. My job requires me to make decisions and be autonomous all the time, so I like to just be told what to do without having to fear of being taken advantage of for a change. Additionally I like it when I am talked to while these triggers happen. It makes it feel less lonely, because let's face it, watching ASMR videos is an inherently lonesome task.
i love light triggers bc they make me tired faster😅 if i need to fall asleep at a certain time and cant they definitely help alot! when i have time i like to watch other asmr!
Hey Abby I love the ambience in every video it's so relaxing & therapeutic it's great especially your voice is the best light Trigger's take the cake every time for me 🤍✨
i think for me light triggers are so easy to focus on, way easier than fingers or pens, because it's just light and not a "thing" to look at. also while focusing i have no other thoughts and i need the visual focus just as the phonetical/auditive (i don't know if that's the correct word in english?) triggers to focus at :) that's also why i prefer fast triggers, you don't really have time to get distracted... the more instructions and the more is going on onscreen the less i have to think which is soo nice after 9h of work
Hi Abby! Awesome video, as always - thank you for posting! Light triggers are my all time fave -- I love them all: scanning, look up look down, follow the light, closed eye scanning, they're all so relaxing for me. They make my eyelids heavy every time and relax me starting with my face. I didn't know there was an asmr light trigger controversy, but when you mentioned it, I realized it does seem sort of the opposite of how to relax, but it works for lots of us. lol Thanks again for posting - I hope 2024 is going well for you! 💖💖😃😃👍👍
So these light triggers are amazing I follow the instructions because you are moving your eyes constantly the colours are stunning as well but I only got through 7mins of this and I was knocked out also rain sounds makes me knock out as well I know some artists use that as well ever since your video first popped up I have watched it ever since and had the best sleep thank you sooo much ❤️❤️❤️❤️
I like light triggers because they force me to “blink” and close my eyes. I also like that Bright Light Triggers I can follow/focus on with my eyes closed😊
My problem with falling asleep is that my mind will wonder endlessly and keep me awake, so these videos are amazing because the overall darkness sets a nice mood, and the combination of lights and possibly more importantly instructions give me something to focus on, (even though without the wispered instructions its just more or less assumed instructions) to where i can allow myself to turn off my brain enough to fall asleep. Also i just want to say, you have the best whisper voice by far of any content creator i've seen. And i love how you said that you are wearing a dark shirt so my eyes dont get distracted, but every time those lights go off screen for a second or two i get reminded of how gorgeous that face is 😂 Thank you for what you do ❤😊
im very insomniac so noise things make me not be able sleep but with light asmr it helps so much the lights calming for me and helps me get in a zone to get my body to sleep
Here's all I know: 1) I rarely get tingles, pretty much never for audio triggers, but sometimes from visuals. Something about the full use of 3D space (pulling back and forth while moving in different directions) is involved, and light vs. camera particularly lends itself to making you aware of where in space you are. This is also why light in one hand and something else in another can do it. 2) I get migraines, and when I do light is a different kind of trigger; I have to hide in the dark due to the photo-sensitivity. Weirdly, though, if I can catch the pre-migraine aura/halo, light triggers will, counter-intuitively fight the migraine before it starts. I've dodged a few migraines with light trigger binge-watching. No idea what's going on there. (I now get cranial-sacral massages that dropped both frequency and intensity of my headaches, but this has only made the light trigger trick MORE effective when I do sense that aura.) 3) The main ASMR effect for me is relaxation rather than tingles. Visual triggers relax me. Not sure why, but especially light triggers in a dark room are very soothing. I think this is *related* to color somehow. Because strong color contrasts (ever see the SophieMichelle measuring video where she's dressed in green and the ruler is pink?) are just very aesthetically pleasing, and that satisfies something in my brain. I'm not a visual artist. I have no idea what's going on there.

My favorite is when asked NOT to look at the light 😂
Baulders Gate approves.🤣
@@dropdamic95 yeah except in the video there are no gay warlocks trying to get in my pants like in that game
It's the same sensation as staring into the middle of a bonfire for me, it's almost hypnotising.
Not enough ASMRtists do light triggers with dark screens and soft noises. This video is spot-on! Thank you :)
Light triggers are my go to ASMR at night. The light makes my eyes heavy and makes me sleep better. Sometimes I don't make it to the end of the videos before I start falling asleep.
Same here

Smart girl 🌸

I love the flaring/flashing of the light triggers, they seem to get so close. Also the movement that's immediately affecting the viewer ❤
Of course, this only works together with the personal attention ❤❤❤
Hand movements near the screen and light triggers are the most effective in making me sleepy. My two favorite

By far my favorite video so far. The variety was really relaxing and mesmerizing.
With my adhd light triggers are my fav. 30 min of pure light is heaven
Your lights triggers + your whispers are the best combination to make me feel relax and comfortable thanks ❤
So glad to hear that, thank you 🫶
I literally seek out eye triggers! It makes my eyes feel heavy and sometimes it does feel like I’m in a trance. Yours are the best! Thanks Abby 🩷✨

I love light triggers, they make my eyes heavy and are bright to where I almost have to close my eyes which makes me sleepy.
I personally like light triggers because tiring my eyes helps me get to sleep quicker, but the added background ASMR is relaxing too.
This the morning after and I finally got up on time!! I’m proud of myself and thank you so much xxxxxxxx

I love light triggers while focusing on the asmrtist, gives me the tingles haha. And I prefer the thinner scanning stick
Light triggers/eye exam videos are the best for me to relax and fall asleep
I like light triggers because they remind me of passing headlights during sleepy nighttime car rides when I was younger.

I really enjoy your light trigger videos they’re very relaxing I love the personal attention with lights
I love your light trigger and whisper videos. What got me hooked originally was the focus tests but it might have been the light triggers in them too.
This was one of your most tranquil videos and the dark shirt on dark background lately is such a vibe :)
I love light triggers they are my favourite trigger to watch I think I love light triggers so much because they relax me so much and so quickly
Light triggers for me are mainly due to the light flare taking things out of focus, but also the personal attention too. Great video, thank you!

Peripheral vision light triggers relax me most. It's a similar feeling to when you are in a car or on a train and just watch the surrounding pass fast.

Am i the only one that misses her "fireworks" light trigger? I wish she will bring it back
Light triggers just make the eyes tired so much faster. And even the focus triggers are better.
Abby & light triggers go together so well🥰

Light triggers are the best and I really liked your dark background.
Just amazing

Boy oh boy do i need this tonight. Had a terrible day with a very bleak outlook for me for the future. Thanks for the upload anyway

Awww I’m glad I can help you to unwind! Thank you! 🫶
Abby’s lights have always been my favorites!!! 😠😤
Somehow I feel the light as a warm beam on my face in the places you shine. Anyone else?
My problem with falling asleep is that my mind will wonder endlessly and keep me awake, so these videos are amazing because the overall darkness sets a nice mood, and the combination of lights and possibly more importantly instructions give me something to focus on, (even though without the wispered instructions its just more or less assumed instructions) to where i can allow myself to turn off my brain enough to fall asleep.
Also i just want to say, you have the best whisper voice by far of any content creator i've seen.
And i love how you said that you are wearing a dark shirt so my eyes dont get distracted, but every time those lights go off screen for a second or two i get reminded of how gorgeous that face is 😂
Thank you for what you do ❤😊
im very insomniac so noise things make me not be able sleep but with light asmr it helps so much the lights calming for me and helps me get in a zone to get my body to sleep
Here's all I know:
1) I rarely get tingles, pretty much never for audio triggers, but sometimes from visuals.
(I now get cranial-sacral massages that dropped both frequency and intensity of my headaches, but this has only made the light trigger trick MORE effective when I do sense that aura.)
3) The main ASMR effect for me is relaxation rather than tingles.
I got many tingles with this tiny on and off light, so cool
