- Let's mount a one-of-a-kind rock crawling bed in our 2021 Toyota Tacoma!
The departure angle on this truck needs A LOT of help... Let's fix it! First things first I want to cut 18" off of the back of this truck and add a super beefy crossmember. Then we install a first of it's kind bed that is light weight, improves ground clearance and takes our build to the next level!

That’s crazy how light they were able to get that bed. It’s probably about the same weight as the factory bed but more utilitarian.
Absolutely sick, I can picture some tube tied into that 4x4 crossmember to protect the underside of tray, but man that looks good as is. I’d just be scared of damaging that work of art.
I kamper and Brent should do a collaboration. Maybe a limited production line with the icamper set up like this or similar.

That dove tail Suits that truck perfectly the box is amazing it looks way better than the factory box if u can fit your your frigid on the passenger side in side the box that would look sweet
My favorite 3rd gen. Just brilliantly thought out. I feel like part of what has made this truck come out so well is how much patience has been taken with it and making these videos is almost like the ultimate version of going over the critical checklists that ensure nothing gets overlooked, because you’re literally sitting there explaining each step to your audience. From what your original plans were for this, to where it snowballed has been an impressive journey to watch unfold.

I would LOVE to do something like that (a little less radical) on my 2004 Dakota crew cab. Not a rock crawler but an over lander style. Something that could still haul a slide in truck camper.

That's pretty dang cool. It would be cool if you could put some kind of arms on the tailgate so you can use it as a table. But it's bad a$$

That is a sweat setup. One day I may get a custom 8 or 9 foot bed for my truck. I would need to cut the back of my frame like the Tacoma just because having that much frame sticking out past the bed is a bit unsightly. I am happy to see an American option for overland beds in the market.

Awesome bed on that truck! I would add some bolt-on, small rectangular pieces next to the rear hinges, just in case you do some sliding down an incline on the rear. Other than that, PERFECT design.

That is a very cool bed. Very sleek and modern looking. Also, the Toyota frame issues are a weird one. Starting back in the 70's they had really good, fully boxed frames. Then the Tacoma and Tundra went to these really weak, c-channel frames that cause stress cracks in the bodies. The engineer at toyota claims it makes for a better ride. But really it was to save money. Chassis jitter makes the ride worse. The brand new tundra finally went back to a fully boxed frame. Hopefully the upcoming tacoma does too.
Dude so well put. This is exactly my sentiment with c channel frames in modern trucks. It's not "designed to be flexible" as many people claim, it's designed to be manufactured cheap to manufacture. The flexibility is a consequence not an intention.
