Awesome music, awesome performance footage. Respect and RIP to Victor Bailey (bass guitar), and Weather Report co-founders Joe Zawinul (keyboards), and Wayne Shorter (saxophones). Thanks for posting.
Miles once called Weather Report “cultural scavengers” ,great short story writers , and unbelievable poets. I have seen Miles in a club in New stand on a table paying homage to a different version of this Band. This performance is magnificent and strains credulity.
I was there at this concert on 9/27/84 when I was stationed at Yokosuka Naval Base. It was the first time ever seeing Weather Report. What a great discovery live.
What a find! For me, an hour of pure joy and fond memories of seeing the '84 tour in Dallas. Man, could this lineup groove and swing! Big thanks for posting, and in such great quality, too. ❤
This is an unbelievably beautiful gift… Thank you so much for putting it here, a random treasure-I’ve been listening to Weather Report since 1974… And to discover this concert and hear it for the first time it’s just amazing… Especially the duet Wayne and Joe absolutely at the top of their art ❤

imagine if OMAR HAKIM and JACO PASTORIUS had been in the band at the SAME time....there wouldn't have been any room for JOE and WAYNE to play.... i love PETER ERSKINE and JACO....but they were technicians....OMAR HAKIM and VICTOR BAILEY were more 'bouncey'....
@jca1962jca the best studio albums they did were.... Mysterious Traveller.... Tale Spinning.... Black Market.... Domino Theory.... ....so you can't write off all the other line-ups just for golden boy, jaco.... sometimes jaco's 4 million notes is too much.... you just want a bass man like miroslav, victor or alphonso....
@@volpeverde6441nah man I disagree with you, even if it's true that Jaco' style was overwhelming some time, for me matches whit the sound of the band. I mean if u were talking about about pop music I would agree whit you but we are talking about weather report, basically the peak of jazz fusion... And even considering that. I wouldn't say that Jaco's playing was too much. The way he sounded never stepped anyone toes, he was a genius. And even Alphonso and Victor said many times that Jaco was unreachable.
@filippocaracci7894 EXACTLY....now imagine JACO and OMAR HAKIM together....the notes and beats they would be kicking out....on the SAME STAGE....would probably cause a black hole to rip this matrix apart....
Jaco and Hakim would not have worked. Jaco needed a subservient drummer like Erskine. Jaco dominated the sound too much and was boring and predictable after a while. He was brilliant on arrival in 1976 and never got any better. In fact he regressed.

Joe had always wanted a FAT bottom end in the music, which explains why so many drummers and bassists went through a revolving door.
