Dr. Joe, THE OG for natural bodybuilding coaches!! Awesome podcast Steve! I feel like every physique athlete that understands flexible dieting and thinking outside the box and dogmatic approaches to eating need to thank Joe for bringing such good information to our community. Thank you Joe!!
Seems like this might be seriously one of the best approaches. When talking to Jeff about Peak Week strategies, he's basically doing the same and said, that many of the more experienced athletes do the same.
Timestamps: 02:53 How has Joe's view of peak week changed? 08:15 Where Joe places peak week into his phasic contest prep plan? 12:40 Joe's 'metabolic building' phase 19:00 What does Joe do in his peak week? 22:05 Difference approaches Joe has used & lessons learnt. 28:50 What is supercompensation & can it occur with carbs? 37:07 How does Joe assess whether someone is spilled, flat or full? 42:35 Why do some people peak after their show?
Full body but try to stay away from eccentrics and also you don't want to pump to much because of constant engagement of your lower body in different poses.
So I am interested in the pump up workout and the morning of the show workout. My biggest downfall at the minute is show day knowledge, how hard a workout should pump up be? How warm are we trying to get in the workouts the week leading up to the show?
ok so lets cut to the chase and summarise....diet slow diet early ...be ready a month out ...and very very gradually with tiny amounts week by week day by day add in kcals. This is just common sense that the nerds with phds try and complicate and totally and utterly and laboriously over analyze hahahaha lololol its not exactly rocket science as all you are doing is bringing the body back to a recovered state over that month.

QUESTION for next time he comes on - Cardio & Training in peak week, what adjustments, if any, does Joe make?
You got it mate! Will make sure that this will be covered. I'll tattoo it so that I remember^^

In for a second podcast with Dr. Joe!! Also, the pump up the morning of that you touched on. Any leg work done, or all upperbody?
Full body but try to stay away from eccentrics and also you don't want to pump to much because of constant engagement of your lower body in different poses.
