I love that you talk and teach during your videos, I love that you give credit to other TH-camrs, I love that you support other TH-camrs, I love that your honest when you don’t like doing something and when you do. I love that you are genuine and so great with colors!
OMG!!!! This really works..........I was skeptical about letting it set in the muck dye but it WORKS!!!! I wish I could send a pic of my shirt, it's amazing and the best shirt I've ever done! The secret to getting the geode lines is to tie the sinew as tight as you can. I'm stunned with my results! Thanks for sharing your technique.
I’m happy you’re happy. You can share in my Facebook group and I hope you do, Brenda, here is the link. facebook.com/groups/1808680025961779/ It’s also always posted in the description box. ❤️🌈
For adding additional Soda Ash, get some dollar store dirt cheap salt shakers! I keep one where I dye and it's really easy to just sprinkle on as much as I want and it disperses nicely. :)
@@mariahawk5 the Procion dye binds with the natural fiber but requires an alkaline PH. The soda ash produces that but when you use large amounts of ice sometimes the volume of water weakens the solution. Adding some on top in addition to what the material was soaked in helps this issue. If the solution is too weak the dye isn’t as bright or doesn’t bind well and washes out. After the shirt sits awhile the dye stops binding and we wash out what’s left. If the material completely dries out that hastens that too so you’ll see people put shirts in bags to keep them moist. Need temps over around 70f too and hot water near boiling can speed the reaction dramatically. I sometimes use the microwave too 😇 Hope that helps!
Hi! Questions for you- First, thx so much for narrating and explaining WHY you do things. I've noticed women do great tutorials, and are helpful teachers. (Not bashing men. Mr Tie Dye explains things also.) I appreciate you! 2 Questions - have you tried round sinew vs flat sinew, or flat sinew of different widths? What does it do? Also, can you use different colored sinew to mark off different areas in very intricate designs to keep visual track of what you're doing? Would colored sinew affect the fabric and cross transfer color?
Thank you for the compliment. I know what you mean. Most men say 600 less words a day than women. Flat or round doesn’t matter, both work. I prefer the flat because it covers more surface area but the difference between the two is minimal. The color of the sinew makes no difference whatsoever. I’ve never had an issue with the color transferring to the fabric. I’ve used white, brown & purple. I’ve seen others use just about every color of the rainbow. Hope this helps. 😁❤️🌈
I see now what I am doing differently with my geodes. I need to start at the bottom of my geodes so I can have more of them. Thanks Steph for another great tutorial!!!
I AM ABSOLUTELY IN LOVE WITH THIS SHIRT!! I think this is one of my favorites! Seriously, I really love the ways the colors blended and flowed very naturally. Gorgeous!
Thank you for sharing. This is my first time seeing your TH-cam channel always wanted to tie dye. I think you are an absolute amazing artist. I would love to try and do a T-shirt of my own and I think that you are an excellent teacher you talk as you go along very positive nothing but good vibes. Thank you so much.😮❤😂
Hummingbirds are so cool!! I have them here in the summer and feed them.. I also have a heated bird bath for the non migratory birds, it doesn't make the water hot but it keeps it from freezing.. it's a good size and squirrels and other critters can use it too :)
I saw the thumbnail, and I thought to myself...it probably took her an hour to unwrap that...lol Unwrapping sinew is the worst. You end up flinging dye water everywhere and all over yourself. I like that brand of shirt because they really drape well (I think that was the term you were looking for). It was a pretty shirt...great for a first time. Geodes aren't really my thing, but this one really was pretty.
I love the necklone/bust area! I always invariably start at the tip of the geode, I dont usually create long geodes though just 2 or 3 circles then I incorporate another in or go in another direction, but I don't do large items like tshirts either.
Excellent tutorial! Lots of sharing your process and the details and why about it. Awesome job girl both on the project and the teaching. Thank you! Love from Australia! Xx❤
Aww, thank you so much!! I love making “geode” tie dye. They all come out so different and beautiful. It’s so awesome to think that my little video has made its way to another country. It’s kind of mind blowing. 🫶❤️🌈
I totally agree with the George shirts compared to Gildan. It's too bad they aren't really a shirt company because the results tend to be amazing. It's in the fabric.
Rockin’ it as always, Steph! I just LOVE it!!! I’ve gotten some George long-sleeves, but I’ve never tried any of their short-sleeves. I like longer shirts over slimmer fitting jeans or yoga pants. Great info! Thanks so much! Can’t wait to try a geode for myself (Mom has been begging me for a lapis lazuli styled shirt; I’m more of an amethyst kind of girl. 💜)
I absolutely LOVE this design!!! I just got my new hemostats and unfortunately they are all straight😔 I didn't see curved ones on Dharma's site, but was having difficulty w/ the site so...I could've missed them. Love the colors you used also!
I’m glad you like it! Straight will work for now until you can order more. I have the links in the description box of everything I use if that helps you. ♥️🌈
Looks beautiful, I bought a swim suit cover up recently that I’ve been really wanting to do a geode pattern on. I’m a little afraid, but when I get my sinew puller, I’m going to take the plunge. It finally started moving earlier this week, but with all the stuff going on right now it might take a while. Anyway, I was looking at your shirt in the fb group, opened the comments and someone had posted one they made. I thought it was really pretty. It reminded me of the inside of a gem rock 😂. So I went to go search and realized that’s what a geode was haha. I felt like an idiot 😆 . So I didn’t comment because I thought they’re going to think I’m stupid for saying oh it reminds me of pretty gem rock. After sleeping on it and watching your video, I decided to share.
Another amazing job. Depending on your region, you should offer classes in some of the basic concepts of this. I bet it would be a hit. Good luck. Keep up the good work/fun.
Your first geode t-shirt? I wouldn’t have thunk it, it looks great! 👍 My first time was on a pillowcase..my first geode I mean 🤪 I’m really enjoying your other channel Steph, it puts my mind in a good place..
😍 it’s so so pretty. I think I might tie my geodes too tight and that leads to my saturation issues. I love the monochromatic feel of this. Maybe your next orange project! Or mine lol.
Just got my first roll of "sinew". glad I watched this before trying it. I like the spindle yer using, what do you call that? How many feet do you figure you used on this geode? Is it re-usable? Dharma is the best!! P.S. I like having purple fingers after a dye session! :-}
It’s a sinew puller and matching caddy. The link is in the description box. boredomwithjenn.com I have no idea how much sinew is used. A roll lasts for a very long time. I do not reuse the sinew. The wax is pretty much spent. ❤️🌈
Gilda se are small? I got one from a ministry I volunteered with and it’s a nice big shirt. Not the finest of fabrics but very generously cut. This was though. I’m still wearing the shirt!
I love your artistry, instructions and your random, fascinating comments. What a beautiful first accomplishment! How can we get YT to restore the publication date? It is reasonable want to know that when I open the video from the queue. I know it's possible to compress or abbreviate - by a little - or reduce the font size in order to restore that important datum.
Thank you. To be 100% honest I don’t know what you’re saying. The date I uploaded it should be in the description box, or even on the main screen on a television. 🤷♀️❤️🌈
No pink splits from the Wedgwood Blue. Interesting. Any time I have used Wedgwood Blue in ice dye , I have gotten pink and purple splits. perhaps the darker blues overpowered them this time.
I looked at the t-shirts listed in the description and didn’t find a link for the George brand shirts because you said they are a bit longer. Found them on Amazon but wanted you to catch a little commission on it. So I’m just suggesting you add them to your list.
I’m not sure what you’re referring to, “stick band.” Are you asking about the sinew string I’m tying with? I’m using a sinew puller and sinew. Both are listed in the description box of this video with clickable links for you to. find it. Hopefully that helps. ❤️🌈
Yes of course! Tie the bands extremely tight. It will look a bit different because liquid dyeing and ice dyeing are different overall but it will still look interesting. It’s tie dye…. it’s all for fun. ☺️❤️🌈
No need to waste all that hot water, money, on rinsing! I do 10 to 11 at a time in washer on cold!! With Dawn dishwashing liquid!! About two tablespoons!!
I also wash multiple projects in the washing machine at a time using professional textile detergent. This is my process. I’m glad you’ve found what works for you. I follow the dye manufacturers instructions. Thanks for the view. Have fun tie dyeing. ❤️🌈
Im only 5 mins in (watching at 1.5 speed) and im all ready LOVING this vid/tutorial! Thanks so much!!
Yay! I’m glad you love it! 😊❤️🌈

Glad you enjoyed it! Have fun tie-dyeing!! 😁❤️🌈

what does adding soda ash do, I assume with power dying?

Beautiful. I think using similar colors makes it look really good. It’s not so busy.

This turned out great for a first time. Thanks for sharing.
Thanks! You’re welcome. ❤️🌈
Wow! Love it! I usually think geodes look too busy so I really really love this. Lots of depth in the shading but not overwhelming.
Awesome. I can't wait to ice dye my first geode 2nite. Thanks for your work.☮️💙🙂
Beautiful. I love how the colors blend together. This T-shirt looks more like a dress on Bella. 🌀💗🌀
Thanks so much! It sure does. 😂❤️🌈
Love this craft, I hope I get the courage to do it.
You can do it! You’ll love it. 😁♥️🌈
It's beautiful ❤❤❤ personalty, prefer monochromatic designs. Great t-shirt xxx
Thank you! 😁♥️🌈
Very nice. I like the blues. The geode pattern looks really good on this one. Thanks for sharing Steph.
Thanks for watching! ❤️🌈
That really turned out very pretty

Gorgeous geodes. You’ve made geodes before. I’ve watched you do it.
Thanks. Yes I have made them before, just not on a t-shirt. ❤️🌈
Very informative video. I appreciate you explaining everything.
Your starfish turned into bodacious waves of blue!
Beautiful I learned a lot from your instructions Thank you 👏🏻❤️
You’re welcome! ♥️🌈
Cool shirt. Great detailed tutorial. Thanks for sharing Steph.
I love this shirt. Anybody else think she sounds like Laurie from Euphoria?
Thank you. I’m not familiar with that show. I’ll have to check it out. ❤️🌈
I love the necklone/bust area! I always invariably start at the tip of the geode, I dont usually create long geodes though just 2 or 3 circles then I incorporate another in or go in another direction, but I don't do large items like tshirts either.
Nice colors and design. Geodes aren’t my favorite but this one is nice!

I love it! I just got a package of George shirts and they come out so much softer than others I've used.
This is GORGEOUS!
Wow so beautiful
Thank you! ❤️🌈
Wow, that's spectacular! You are so talented, Steph!
Thank you so much! ❤️🌈
Awesome design and color. Good Job!
Thanks a lot! ❤️🌈
Love it. Very unique.
Thank you so much! 😁♥️🌈
Totally beautiful
I totally agree with the George shirts compared to Gildan. It's too bad they aren't really a shirt company because the results tend to be amazing. It's in the fabric.
I personally love to wear George because I like the length and soft fabric but sadly they don’t last like the scratchy Gildan do. ♥️🌈
very cool. love how it turned out!

Gorgeous. You did such a good job. This is something I would wear. 💙
It's gorgeous! I think that this is my favorite style ♥
Thank you! Geodes are fun ❤️🌈
It’s beautiful, I love it

I really like it a lot.
looks great
Love it 😍😍😍May I know what kinds of thread you will recommend for tie dye ? Thank you !
I used sinew. If you look in the description box of my tutorials you will find a complete list of what I use. ❤️🌈
It looks fantastic Steph even if it was your 20th one it’s gorgeous thanks for sharing I appreciate everything❤️✌️

Muito bom! Estou louca pra ver o resultado. Qual o nome da linha?

How did your shirt turn out? ♥️🌈
Nice

I order them directly from Walmart.com ❤️🌈
Can you reuse the sinew?
Some people do but I don’t recommend it. The wax is pretty well spent. It’s not worth the risk of spending all that time to just have it fail. ♥️🌈
Hallo 🙋♀️ can i ask you, what is the name of this stick band, that ya using for fixing all this pattern? Can’t finde it anywhere 😩
I’m not sure what you’re referring to, “stick band.” Are you asking about the sinew string I’m tying with? I’m using a sinew puller and sinew. Both are listed in the description box of this video with clickable links for you to. find it. Hopefully that helps. ❤️🌈
@@BelladonnaDyesCo i’am so thankful 🙏🏽 i found it finally
at Amazon
Hope it’s a right one. ❤❤❤
What kind of string do you use
Sinew. I prefer Dharma's but I also use it from Amazon. ❤️🌈amzn.to/3N4bIFm
Hummingbirds?! I'm there! But cannot find the channel I think, only one I'm seeing hasn't been active in years. Link?
I love my hummers! 🧚♂️❤️🌈th-cam.com/channels/lGB9i_aUYVL0r10fCOLPmg.html
Can a person do this with liquid dye and rubber bands? I have a kit that I got from Walmart that I haven’t used yet. Thanks
The shirt is gorgeous! 😍❤️
Yes of course! Tie the bands extremely tight. It will look a bit different because liquid dyeing and ice dyeing are different overall but it will still look interesting. It’s tie dye…. it’s all for fun. ☺️❤️🌈

It pained me to watch you pour all that beautiful blue muck dye down the sink. Could it be reused?
Not at that point, no, the muck water is spent. Sadly. ❤️🌈
Couldn't you just cut the sinew off?
Yes, but run the risk of cutting the shirt. ❤️🌈
Здравствуйте!
Ты творческая и позитивная, симпатичная и любишь дело и людей.
Спасибо!
It's all the same color. Huh!?!
Different hue of 1 colour.
I love how you said there is no rhyme or reason, random🤍🪷💫
Honestly, the more random the better!! 😁♥️🌈
