Agreed clark gable was extremely supportive to his co-star in gone with the wind star Hattie McDaniel and pushed against the race haters. This makes him a decent man in my book
Judy Garland was a very talented actress, but she did often cause trouble on sets due to lateness or not showing up at all. During her last film I COULD GO ON SINGING (1963), Judy was at first welcomed by the British crew all calling her Miss Garland, but by the time filming was over she was referred to as "it." Dirk Bogarde, her co-star in the movie, spoke about this in a Judy Garland documentary that was made a few years after her death. The documentary was called IMPRESSIONS OF GARLAND (1972).
Me too and especially hate the narrative “ She (Garland) finally succumbed to pressure from the studios (to take drugs) She was a Child who was PREYED UPON by Male stars and studio execs - it’s NEVER A CHILD’S FAULT❗️
My Father worked at Paramount during Taylor's time. He said she was gracious, polite, always on time, and always knew her lines. She treated the Studio Workers with respect and gave a wrap party at the end of the movie.
These assertive females were demonized because they didn’t let men walk all over them. I mean when you have a director incite the hostility of Davis & Crawford in order to make the movie better that’s just shitty on the directors. Hepburn I looked up to as a roll model also Rosalind Russell, Joan Woodward, Audrey Hepburn, Rosalind Russell reminded me of my mom, her wit and height hourglass figure. My mom always told me don’t make woman your enemy, they are your sisters underneath the skin.
Well she had that masochistic marriage with Burton..and to top it off their happy hour started at 6am...and ended at 6am the next day. Best movie she was in was Cleopatra...for mè..and when she was a child star.
Strange today, yes. But this is a good example of how different life for women was prior to the 1970's. I was born in 1960 and even then, I grew up with the highest expectation being that I marry well. I even remember, when I was 8 years old, telling my father I wanted to be a writer. His response (which I will NEVER forget) was, "oh, no. You can't be a writer. You can only be a teacher, a nurse or a dental hygienist. That is, until you get married." For years I believed him and I was very angry and very depressed. Because, of course, I believed him. One of the worst things that these 'revisionists' are doing is pretending that women were treated with respect prior to that. They were not. We were treated like second-class citizens. A few years later my mother left my father and was horrified to find that she was not allowed to open her own checking account without my father's "permission." (That was the law, but it was changed in 1974.) My father refused to help me go to college even as he helped my two brothers; my older brother got braces; I didn't. My brothers always got whatever they needed to succeed. But me? I was excess baggage. THAT is how every female, regardless of age, was treated in those days. This is the reason revisionism is so repellent and destructive for women and women's rights. Because half the problem was that women themselves were so cowed they didn't dare speak up or fight back. And that mentality persisted into the 1970's, the Women's Revolution only coming on the tail end of all the social revolutions that had taken place. In those days men were still allowed to BEAT their wives. By allowed, I mean, she had no recourse. She could not call the police! Can you imagine? But, also, in the 1920's and right up to the 1960's, until most of the social revolutions, morality and doing what was 'right' at the time was paramount to being a part of any group-- of your neighborhood, your church, your school. If a woman divorced in those days she was often ostracized by all her friends and family. And, too, Hollywood was perceived as the Devil's own town, wicked and depraved. The world was a very different place. BTW, another aspect of this is, by understanding how much women were up against, those few that did manage to break away in even earlier times (Jane Austen and Emily Bronte, for instance) had to endure even more censure and, for that reason, must be respected that much more. Also, if you have read any of Jane Austen's work (or even seen the movies), realize those stories were considered ridiculous at the time, even by women. Flights of fancy. And a major reason Jane never married. No man wanted a woman so independently minded, so intelligent. Intelligent women were almost always scorned.

She was generous to those who were in need, often discreetly giving both small and large sums to help...she never asked repayment and often refused it. She remembered birthdays. This is disgusting. Judy Garland HATED? That's just stupid. She certainly had problems, but the public didn't hear about them until she was sadly gone. You don't even know how to pronounce "Marlene"; shameful.
Judy was beloved by the public, but behind the scenes proved herself to be an unreliable worker. This lack of professionalism is what led to being fired from MGM by L.B. Meyer himself.
Thank you for saving me the time of watching this crap video. Judy could be difficult but was probably the most talented performer of the 20th century, and most of the time she was very good with people.
@@mousetreehouse6833 Her professionalism was in front of the camera. She probably earned the right to be difficult behind the scenes. Having your whole life on display would be trying for anybody.
i don't think many of these are true. no one hated rita hayworth, ava gardner or ingrid bergman. I also think olivier was described generally as a very decent sort you are conflating issues about many of these people's personal lives with their general likability.
You have to realize, this was old Hollywood. The ones running the studios. They wanted mystery with the actors. Then columnest made up there own stories, or ask the lower co-stars and they said whatever some parts were true.
People are very judge mental and Ingrid Bergman was hated she left the country for a long time because those judgmental people as I'm sure were far worse in their own behavior, were really cruel. The only one I would disagree with is Bette Davis. It was instead Joan Crawford because of her abuse of her children she scorned and hated. I liked them all whether or not people hated them except Joan Crawford and Ava Gardener!
@@Jeanie-y5s we used to have social and moral standards in the west and adultery and out wedlock birth were ostracized. There was no way studio heads were going to support this even though most of the were equally immoral. I think she did the right thing not aborting and weathering it out and I somehow suspect she was pressured to abort. Some of the stories such as jeanette mac donald and patricia neal are gut wrenching MacDonald and eddy fought fr years over issue of marriage as he wished her to retire. I think it was mayer who would not for some bizarre reason let them do so Bergman was already married with a child Pia Lindstrom whom she abandoned but that may have been due to her current husband's refusal to allow her to take her. Italy had no divorce at the time and rossellini died in '77 married to his italian wife Ditto sophia loren and ponti.whose story I recall quite clearly Faye Dunaway left Mastroanni who would not allow himself to divorce.

Jerry was an TERRIBLE on and off stage. Poor Dean Martin had to suffer though with that Thing Jerry. Geez should have given him and oscar for his acting performance.. enduring Jerry that long. Think Dean wanted to beat him up..and i dont think anybody would have stopped him.
Where do they get this nonsensical information from!!. Clark Gable was NOT despised by the whole of Hollywood. . All speculation and gossip written by people who weren't there!
Oh Clark was just dispondent after his wife died in that plane crash. Said he was never the same after that..he adored her..carol Lombard(?)..but not too despondent to marry 2 more times after her..for a total of 5 TIMES.
Wow, Katherine Hepbum was brutally honest about her selfishness. Can we still admire her talent despite her behavior, or does her attitude make her unworthy of respect?
Katharine Hepburn will always be a brilliant star and will always be worthy of respect ! 4 best actress Academy Awards proves she was adored by Hollywood, not all hated !
Can't help noticing 'hated' are often just women refusing to conform. Men have to assault someone. Spencer Tracey had 27 year affair (cheating, is what it is), but he isn't hated.
The last shot in #2 of a woman with Spencer Tracy, was not Katherine Hepburn. It was Lucille Ball. At 33:45 the monologue is about Lee Marvin, but for 16 seconds the male actor seen is Ricardo Montalbán.
Boy there was some bad blood there. Olivia would do anything to be best and broke her sisters arm. Her mother started the rivalry..and Olivia took it to a whole new level. Just watching her in interviews..what a B..and figures she live to 103 or something. Joan Fontaine was her sister.
As a child, I remember watching the academy awards in 1972 when Charlie Chaplin accepted his honorary award. It was very sad. He was a white-haired elderly man being pushed around in a wheelchair and I don't recall him talking or making a speech at all. It was exceptionally moving and everyone applauded and gave him a standing ovation.
This is interesting that the channel didn't acknowledge that Swanson was also extremely creative. She invented the plastic clothing buttons still used today and extension cords still used today. Nor did this channel acknowledge the assault on Loretta Young by Gable produced a daughter Judy Lewis that Gable ignored forever.🤷🏼♀️
"Silent Women Rarely Make History." Most of the women in this challenged the Studio system, changed how Hollywood conducted business. These are strong leaders.
It's hard to know the real truth about anyone unless you have facts!!! Most of these rumors are mostly rooted out of jealousy or envy so, who really knows???
I remember hearing about this. The US wasn't as lenient as Europe at the time, but Ingrid still retained a strong fan base here, in spite of the scandal.
Yrah pretty low bar to attack the women stars when there wasnt a guy in hollywood who didnt cheat in their wives with muliiple women..but The Bells of Saint Mary's Star made it a scandle.
Katharine Hepburn and Rita Hayworth were incredible beauties. Lee Marvin was a USMC scout sniper, who survived some of WWII's toughest combat, where he was seriously maimed. One of the greatest actors of all time.
I must have come in late, how did Marlene Dietrich make this list? According to the narrator this is Hollywood’s most hated. Marlene Dietrich was an American hero during Germany’s darkest time. How did she make this list, don’t know but I appreciate the facts (if true). It sounds like she did many U. S. troop tours before Bob Hope made it cool. Again, how did Marlene Dietrich make this list and not acknowledged by others who cover…
Speaking of Lucy, Dick Cavett always asked airline employees, "who is the worst celebrity you had to deal with?". The answer was always, "Lucille Ball".
Yeah after watching that show on her and Dezi..she sounded ruthless to the crew and the cast. Guess it was during the time when they were accusing her of being a communist. Just seeing interviews with her.. she seemed rather cold and condisending.. they said Fred was exacty like his chareter in the show and Ethal resented that they picked him as her husband..looks wise and just a vicious drunk.
Harry Cohn was the head of Columbia. You showed Ricardo Montalban for Lee Marvin. Marlene Dietrich was a patriotic movie star--it was World War II. Too many stupid and erroneous comments to correct. Don't play people for idiots.
Jean Harlow was gorgeous, but very, very troubled. She was married 3 times by the age of 26! I wonder how her 4th marriage to William Powell would have gone. I am imagining, not successful. Her death romanticized it.
If the story is manipulated and things are made up, it might be told that a star was hated but that doesn't mean they actually were. Much that was said about them was all made to sound worse and was all scripted, essentially, just as movies are. People love to build others up for awhile, only to want to tear them down again.
I think we've got some serious problems with this channel. Really bad use of language, as in labeling Marlene Dietrich 'hated' not because of her Hollywood friends, but because of her rejection of the Nazis and her native Germany. There is a kind of fakeness to the way this thread simply covers well known material about well known stars, then introduces supposedly controversial material with not much supporting documentation. I call foul Also, the background music is very poor for this material. DRTC.
You seem to eek out more women than men . Maybe the industry caused these talented women to be assertive like their counterparts . You have certainly shown your bias
So many errors in this piece. Vivien Leigh wasn't in Elephant Walk. Elizabeth Taylor was. A couple of the stills in the Olivier section are actually of John Barrymore.
Just asked Alexa what Vivian Leigh had....BI-POLAR AND TOBURCULOSIS. O remember Olivier said she was a sex maniac and wanted it 10 times a day and he couldnt keep up. No doubt the BiPolar part there. Sad though.
How dare you put Judy Garland up here, she was fed drugs by the studios and became addicted. She can't be held accountable for her behavior as they drugged her since she was a kid.
Gossip is a terrible thing, even after their demise people are still talking about the dirt. There are even some people in the comments perpetuating more dirt. Who of us can honestly say we have no skeletons in our closet. And journalists are such honest people, they never sensationalize anything. Hollywood is a cutthroat town. There's heavy competition. Where there's computation, there will be some animosity. Let's be honest, the only thing that made it worse than any other people with such skeletons, is the Fame and Fortune. Money has a way of affording heavier ammunition. And behind all the glitz and glamor, there's a lot of stress and pain. Gossip is just that, gossip. And I guess if you're someone that enjoys that kind of stuff, it might be entertaining. But to me, it feels like empty revenge. These people are gone, so they can't defend themselves. Or in some cases, just live up to it. It just all seems to lack good taste.
Another piece of crap. The producers of this crap confuse "controversial" or "troubled" with hated. And some weren't "most hated" at all. Marlene Dietrich is actually portrayed positively--as she should have been--yet is still called "hated." Lots of video clips, but usually having nothing to do with the narration or with supporting the fiction of being "hated." Strong downvote.
I'd heard Barbara Stanwyk was well-liked and respected. Her conservatism existed prior to the polarized hatred of one of the parties today so I'm thinking it wouldn't have been an issue for her. I'm suspicious of other names in this list. The music was way too loud, repetitive, and annoying. How about no music?
Barbradtaneyck was adopted at an early age and brought up dirt poor..like millions were then coming out of the great depression..2 WWs..Dust Bowl...so she fought tooth and nail to get where she was. Think it showed in most of her movies.
Well a GOOD girl doesn't have kids out of wedlock. And she certainly would have gotten to GOOD girl parts had that come out. Look what they did to Ingrid..and Loretta played nuns too.
WTF? I'm only 2 and a half minutes in and I can already tell this is bullshit. I've already given them to much TH-cam credit by leaving this comment so I'm outta here never to return!
Who decided all these people were hated? There are some on here I can see, but to say Judy Garland was hated is a bold-face lie. And to insinuate Olivia deHavilland was peaches and cream towards her sister...? Really? So sweet she didn't even advise her of her mother's death.
All taxi drivers in Stuttgart pick up at least 2 celebrities each year they drive. I met a taxi driver who picked up Elisabeth Taylor at the Stuttgart Airport. She was with a lady friend. The driver found her very nice and started conversing with her. He had seen all of films. He asked questions about the films. She told him a lot about "Who's afraid of Virginia Woolf. He did more listening than talking and she liked that. It took 45 minutes to get to the destination. She gave him biggest tip he had ever gotten in his life.
100% false, most of these actors and actresses have been dead for so long there is no way of proving any of these allegations. Clickbait, like all the other videos on this channel.
Those hating on Judy Garland know nothing of what was done to her when she was a child; and teen, BY both her mother AND the STUDIO with the APPROVAL of Mayer.
Everything in this video is false. Judy Garland was beloved This video is using the word hate for people who had illnesses. Why would that make them hated. Even celebrities having affairs or drinking problems does not stop the FANS from loving them for their talent
I watched not even half of this video to know I won’t subscribe to this channel. The people you have labeled as “hated” is so ridiculous. Judy Garland “hated”? Such nonsense. Olivia deHavilland was not hated because of her “feud” with her sister Joan Fontaine. I would be interested to read how you determined these people are “hated.” I only clicked on the link for this video because I saw Judy Garland’s photo. I knew this was going to be a bust and I was right from the start. I’ll be sure not to click on any of your videos again.
The video really doesn't focus on why these celebrities were actually hated. It merely exposes certain aspects of their lives that some might judge one way or another. I doesn't adequately link the gossipy tidbits to the allegation that they were actually hated.
As far as I know, only Micky Rooney had a bad reputation. The other actors and actresses all deserve peaise for their talent and their wish to show it. Hate is often aroused by jealousy. So....'The most hated' can also be interchanged by 'the most talented/6ambitious/successful'.
Yeah well they could come out with just one thing to ruin a person's career back then so i wouldnt hold much stock in that. I dont know..but i heard he was a commy..but like i said..who wasnt during McCarthys Inquisitions.
This is just baloney and total click-bait trash. Clark Gable may have played around but so did they all - and none of them were "hated." Kirk Douglas, Glenn Ford, Ty Power, Tony Curtis, Errol Flynn, Bill Holden, they were all notorious for playing around... So what? Everyone knew it in Hollywood and no one much cared. . Many major stars in Hollywood were racers and chasers in that era, including the studio heads, and quite a few of the girls too. NO ONE "hated" them! On the contrary, the public adored them! Please vote this video DOWN if you want to put a stop to malicious trash like this.
What BS. There WAS no animosity between Davis and Crawford until that horrible stunt Crawford pulled at the Oscars. Crawford spent most of her career at MGM. DO YOUR RESEARCH BECAUSE SOME OF YOUR VIEWERS HAVE. Second, when MEN stand up for artistic integrity, they are called strong. But when women do it, it's "uncompromising" in an insulting way.
Agreed clark gable was extremely supportive to his co-star in gone with the wind star Hattie McDaniel and pushed against the race haters. This makes him a decent man in my book
All this proves is that people like to gossip and are quick to judge
And they can't differentiate between reality and fantasy. Movies aren't true life and neither are the stories generated by the studios.

I was thinking the same thing. Audiences weren't much different, though, in their rush to judge without out much information.
I agree. If Judy was thought a problem, it was most likely because she was drugged to the soles of her feet.
Marlene Dietrich doesn't belong on this list. She was a patriot on the side of freedom and democracy.
"Yes, She Was ... The Nazis, Not America, Hated ... Her"
This is disgusting.
@@mousetreehouse6833 Sad but true
It's the same with the allegations about Clark Gable.
I definitely agree with you. I press who spread rumors for money 💰

I talked to a few people, including my uncle, who met Clark Gable. They said he was really a cool and generous guy.

No one was hated and disrespected than two faced Jerry Louis ! Just look what he did to his own family !
Jerry Lewis?

Agreed.
@@jimmyguitar2933 Yes, Jerry Lewis!!
Tony Curtis too..that was disappointing to hear...Bing Crosby another...not so disapointing cuz i couldnt stand his movies anyway..but if Course he wasin the Bellds of Saint Narys with Ingred too..she bad...hes a saint..eyeroll.
32:25 Harry Cohn was never the president of Paramount Pictures. He was the founder of Columbia Pictures, today called Sony.
And they're no longer able to defend themselves or sue the ass off the producers of this lie.
The Gable bit was largely over-blown
Wow, Katherine Hepbum was brutally honest about her selfishness. Can we still admire her talent despite her behavior, or does her attitude make her unworthy of respect?
Katharine Hepburn will always be a brilliant star and will always be worthy of respect ! 4 best actress Academy Awards proves she was adored by Hollywood, not all hated !
I have new respect for Marlene Dietrich knowing she had the courage to go against that horrific Nazi regime! Good for her!!!!
Can't help noticing 'hated' are often just women refusing to conform. Men have to assault someone. Spencer Tracey had 27 year affair (cheating, is what it is), but he isn't hated.
Always true. Women are always crapped on. Can YOU IMAGINE a woman today doing what Robert Downey Jr has done and enjoying his success???
The last shot in #2 of a woman with Spencer Tracy, was not Katherine Hepburn. It was Lucille Ball. At 33:45 the monologue is about Lee Marvin, but for 16 seconds the male actor seen is Ricardo Montalbán.
I remember that Olivia gave the Redgrave sisters advice not to let the academy award come between them like it did with her sister.
Boy there was some bad blood there. Olivia would do anything to be best and broke her sisters arm.
Her mother started the rivalry..and Olivia took it to a whole new level.
Just watching her in interviews..what a B..and figures she live to 103 or something. Joan Fontaine was her sister.
I remember that speech when she gave advice to the Redgrave sisters.
Warner had ZERO influence in the relationship between Davis & Crawford.
"Silent Women Rarely Make History." Most of the women in this challenged the Studio system, changed how Hollywood conducted business. These are strong leaders.
That obnoxious music sucks.
It's hard to know the real truth about anyone unless you have facts!!! Most of these rumors are mostly rooted out of jealousy or envy so, who really knows???
Or the Publicty Department 🫠
That's right!!! LoL!!!
Ingrid Bergman was attacked in the US when she had an affairand subsequently had her daughter. The Congress passed some formal condemnation of her.
It did specify that she was hated by the Nazis in Germany, not those fans here in the USA.
She was hated by the nazis. Most of the trash in this piece came from old film gossip magazines.
Gable was never hated... This video is full of falsehoods.
We must also remember that many of these women have strong independent qualities in a world totally ruled by MEN.
You're a liar. You made most of this up. Clickbait.
5:17 is that lucille ball, not hepburn, who also starred wtih them in without love?
Speaking of Lucy, Dick Cavett always asked airline employees, "who is the worst celebrity you had to deal with?".
The answer was always, "Lucille Ball".
Yeah after watching that show on her and Dezi..she sounded ruthless to the crew and the cast. Guess it was during the time when they were accusing her of being a communist. Just seeing interviews with her.. she seemed rather cold and condisending.. they said Fred was exacty like his chareter in the show and Ethal resented that they picked him as her husband..looks wise and just a vicious drunk.
Wow all these brilliant independent women , stunningly beautiful and talented and lived life their way , BRAVO LADIES xx
Harry Cohn was the head of Columbia.
You showed Ricardo Montalban for Lee Marvin.
Marlene Dietrich was a patriotic movie star--it was World War II.
Too many stupid and erroneous comments to correct.
Don't play people for idiots.
lol…
So the Nazis hated Marlene Dietrich? Fair enough, but there’s two sides to every story. Maybe they weren’t very nice either.
Not to mention, she certainly was NOT hated by AMERICANS or any other country at war with the NAZIs
This video is messed up The names along the track at the bottom don't match what the video is showing at the same time.
Jean Harlow was gorgeous, but very, very troubled. She was married 3 times by the age of 26! I wonder how her 4th marriage to William Powell would have gone. I am imagining, not successful. Her death romanticized it.
Where is Jerry Lewis?
Dead

Does Vivian Leigh deserve most hated because of her problems?
i met katherine hepburn on a film set in the 60s , her behavior contradicts everything you say about her , a pure lady , get your facts right
If the story is manipulated and things are made up, it might be told that a star was hated but that doesn't mean they actually were. Much that was said about them was all made to sound worse and was all scripted, essentially, just as movies are. People love to build others up for awhile, only to want to tear them down again.
"Alec Guinness, an English actor..."
Yes, we know. 🤣
Great Beer too..lol
Bette Davis kicked ass! Best actress ever
Percentagewise, this is way off. Most of these people were far more loved by the population that they were hated. Kind of a strange post.
DRTC.
The list details are wrong.
Judy’s pill addiction started with her mother at the age of 3
This is such BS.
Vivien was the original star, but she suffered a mental breakdown. The Elizabeth Taylor was brought in.
I showed my niece ALL ABOUT EVE..oh the look In her eyes said it all.
I watch it every year at Thanksgiving...lol
Revoke charlie chaplins status! We need a film about that and an apology from the government.
I never knew Wallace Beery looked so much like Katherine Hepburn!
I find a lot of this hard to believe.
It's depressing see that well over a thousand silly people have 'liked' this utter baloney. Humanity is doomed!
How about no music?
... an abortion at the age of 12??? good for her to overcome such abuse!
Barbradtaneyck was adopted at an early age and brought up dirt poor..like millions were then coming out of the great depression..2 WWs..Dust Bowl...so she
fought tooth and nail to get where she was. Think it showed in most of her movies.
God i wish you could edit your own comments here..urgh.
He is repeating third-hand accounts of actresses terminating pregnancies. If the narration isn't from the actress in question, don't repeat it.
Your Bette Davis half-truths, distortions and outright empty gossip are very stale by now.
Georgr Raft is fighting with James Cagney, not Wallace Beery.
Cagney was a Warner Brothers star. Beery was at MGM.
Clark Gable didn't "assault" Loretta Young. They had consensual sex, which resulted in pregnancy. She adopted her own child to evade scandal.
Basically every woman other than Shirley Temple and Ginger Rogers!
Baloney. Some queen must have written this.
100% false, most of these actors and actresses have been dead for so long there is no way of proving any of these allegations. Clickbait, like all the other videos on this channel.
Rubbish inflated stories about talented people who are dead. JUST CLICKBAIT.
This is like a trash magazine . Turn it off.
This is SO badly done in so many ways.
First being total lies🙂
This is more about American moralism than these actor’s personalities. Ridiculous.
The video really doesn't focus on why these celebrities were actually hated. It merely exposes certain aspects of their lives that some might judge one way or another. I doesn't adequately link the gossipy tidbits to the allegation that they were actually hated.
They weren't hated. It's all lies
As far as I know, only Micky Rooney had a bad reputation.
The other actors and actresses all deserve peaise for their talent and their wish to show it.
Hate is often aroused by jealousy.
So....'The most hated' can also be interchanged by 'the most talented/6ambitious/successful'.
Are you sure there isn't anyone you left out?
Yes hundreds of celebrities !
Yeah, they left out ALL the people who WERE really hated🙂
Despite their undeniable talent, their contentious relationship forever etched them into Hollywood's history of feuds and controversies.
I was surprised at the charge of Frederick March being racist. 😮
Interesting that gable had afro-american antcedents.
