I just love how Pierce Brosnan’s Bond can switch from Intimidating to humorous in a matter of seconds. Makes him very charming and entertaining. He will always be my 007.

It sucks because in those few seconds you can tell who his loyalties are shifting toward...Oroumov was clearly toast and was gonna be dealt with. But more importantly, Bond lost a potentially great ally. They could easily have slotted this guy into the subsequent movies but in a more casual setup like Zukovsky (them in a scene together would've been interesting). He retires from government and sets up his own private security/intelligence/defense thing...so many missed opportunities...the stuff with Carver, Renard, Graves...Mishkin could have popped up at any stage during those plots to give Bond the low down...

Then just don't fire at the guards guarding Natalya when you enter the room, walk away, she doesn't get scared and doesn't run away and then you shoot the window to escape.

***** Hey Dave, I just searched him up, it's actually Gottfried John. He's a Deutscher? A Deutscher playing a Russian? That could work I guess. Isabella Scorupco (Natalya) is Polish, on another note. Most Slavic Accents sound similar so that worked fine. Gott means God like 'Mein Gott!' (Lit. Oh my God!), and Fried means peaceful. I speak German so I'd know. So his name translates as 'Peaceful God' What the fuck? That's weird!

Mishkin’s death really sucks. Obviously a very straight, by-the-books government dude who was understandably suspicious of Bond at first but he quickly put two and two together. Had it not been for his shoddy security, he’d have thrown Oroumov to the dogs and backed Bond all the way….

Also, he doesn't really try to push away Ourumov from the prisoner's room. He is higher in authority than Ourumov, so ordering the ex-major of Space Division to walk away wouldn't spoil him.

I watched them all so much that I was able to recite lines from them from memory. During this time it was uncertain whether Bond movies would make a resurgence. When Goldeneye came out I was a freshman in high school and it was the first Bond movie to be released that I remember. It has all of the classic Bond tropes, is without a doubt Brosnan’s best Bond film and dare I say, my favorite Bond film ever!

That was pretty tight what Bond did after he slam Ourumov to the wall, while he kick the door to the Russian soldier storming in and he punch the other Russian soldier trying to kill Natalya and took his weapon.

One of the best few min over all the Bond films. Not over gory, or over done, or over the top like some action movies lately. It gets to the point and doesn't play around just for violence sake.
