How fortunate I am in so many ways...I'm looking forward to seeing Mr. Ford in Grants Pass OR 6/5/15. It will be my first time seeing him. The band here is incredible. I hope at least some will be there. Peace and Love...
Very rare to see him playing a Strat. This one looks like a mid fifties custom style. Im blessed to have a 56 but a refin. When they get played about 10,000 hours like mine.....the fret board, ( rock maple) gets scalloped and darker. Also, the pickguard screws turn black. This guy makes any guitar sound great.
This guy is such a monster player. Even though they're stylistically very different, there's something about his playing that reminds me of John McLaughlin.
By the way...there is another guitar GOD coming to Grants Pass a couple weeks after Robben. It's Robin! Trower. That will be my 6th time seeing Mr. Trower....how fortunate I am!
I have spent the past 2 weeks listening to Frank Gambale radio on Pandora. I was able to grab some aspects of that style. Now as much as I love Gambale and Howe, I must admit, I can't make a DIME playing that shit. When listen to Robben ford and Larry Carlton, I hear a bunch of ideas ( read steal licks) that I can use.
I believe this is the same strat he had on tour with Miles. It is far from stock, as you might guess. I read the pickup layout somewhere but can't remember where, duh....I seem to remember there is a stacked pickup or more in this lineup.
with all the modern electronics it's a piece of cake to make any guitar sound like a strat or a les paul. get a used korg pandora 5 on ebay and send the signal straight to the board.........the only hard part about getting your guitar to sound like Robben's is getting him to come over and play it.
+JGPorcello The "problem" with strats is, their uniqueness in overall tone, but mostly in the 2nd and 4th switch positions, where you get that out-of-phase tone! No other guitar has that ability. It's really great! But,,, it's too distinct a sound, and unless your a rockabilly player, or pure country picker,, the strat then becomes a victim of it's own uniqueness!
+Prog X You'll find all kind of people, but Its pretty sure that Robben never would say that, maybe I'm wrong, but he is a musician and he could say that prefers others guitars for some reasons...but hate...umm nop

Not so crazy about a maple fret board though. My fingers stick when they sweat. Rosewood takes care of that. My Strat has a Rosewood fret board. My Tele has a maple fret board, but I still love to play it because of the string action, and the bridge pickup is on fire!
Yer an idiot. And that's all I have to say about that. Plus I don't claim to have played with groups I have never played with before; like yourself. I have never heard of you so you must be a hack yourself.
You know, I said nothing about Robben Ford himself; I was talking guitars, I thought, with other guitar players. As far as being bitter, the only thing I would bitter about would be the fact that I live in an area where the talent pool is piss poor. There are plenty of people who like my playing and singing, and over the years many people have wondered why I wasn't on the radio. Now, I have aged to the point where that's no longer a possibility. I still record though, something I've been doing since the early 80s. You should learn to be a kinder person. Stop hurling insults at people you don't know, and stop trying to make yourself out to be someone bigger than you are. FYI, I recorded in recording studio of Eddy Alford's wife, you know the guy who recorded the Yes Fragile album, and she liked what we recorded. I used learning other people's music to learn how to play, and then started writing and recording my own songs. I have posted some songs, but not anywhere you're familiar with.
they‘re good but to me music should be more than showing off things. it would have more sense to me with some singing. but then it‘s a matter of taste.
Robben Ford.
The best at what I love to hear.
Robbens chord voicing are incredible
😊
One of the absolute best ! Robben Ford
Taste, tone and phrasing to die for. Simply my favourite player of all time
Saw him in concert. Wish I was playing up there with him. Smooth and talented.
robin ford is one of the few people that can keep my interest all the way through an instrumental son. ^5 Robin
IT'S AMAZINGLY TRUE...
Ford is unbelievable I will always be a fan
Great music!! Robben and the band is really sounding good..no matter what band he is touring with..
great musicians , they have plenty to offer! love them
Yes he is awesome. Robben always tours with the very best musicians, doesn't he?
Please add more infos to your videos. Band members, date, concert. Thank you. 😁

+Gregory Soldner trust me none of these guys will be there. robben is always switchin up his band
I'd marry that drum groove. She'd probably cheat on me with that drum solo though. Can't say I'd blame her.
Wow..what a band. That drummer is sweet..! These guys have it in spades..!
So nice to see Ford with a strat!
The power of phrasing everybody!
Love those monster chords!

This guy makes any guitar sound great.
Novak is such a beast !! his solos are astouding
His work on Holdsworth's 16 Men is just beautiful!
Milos Rais When Gary was hairy! Loved his playing with Tribal Tech as well.
Wow ✨ voilà ce que j'appelle de la musique .-*-. Quelle conversation entre plusieurs Géants, c'est un régal 😋 Merci à vous
Chris Chaney on bass. Wow. This is some ten years ago. Still fantastic!
Drummer stole the show. Awesome.
This guy is such a monster player. Even though they're stylistically very different, there's something about his playing that reminds me of John McLaughlin.
Nothing like McLaughlin
Scofield maybe
They are both devoted to the instrument that’s for sure
This is the best guitar sound I heard from him.
Just a little too much reverb though.
It’s the strat!
Listen him on his white 60's tele!
I get that this has lots of groove, funk and originality, but if I had to play this night after night, I'd go crazier.
Robbens a player, not a writer :p
By the way...there is another guitar GOD coming to Grants Pass a couple weeks after Robben. It's Robin! Trower. That will be my 6th time seeing Mr. Trower....how fortunate I am!
Quintessential Strat tones. Delicious
Robben has phenomenal rhythm
Thans for the live clip! Great piece :)
Awesome Strat Tones from the Master
I was 'raised and salted' on this guys music. "Charles Ford Band" LOVES SOME ROBBEN!
Robben doesnt like Strats, but MAN does he sound good with one.
That’s even on the bridge pickup lol
Not true ..he does ..videos of him saying so
ALWAYS in the POCKET

That drumming!! Well done jerry!!
GARY NOVAK
Every guitar is so good like its owner - perhaps I should have none guitar - LAUGH!!!
I'll take that Gibson off ya then and promise to be good.
you think you play as good as robben?
andi lux
Nope - but I could sure use a free Gibson
DENNIS CHAMBERIS
カッコイイ!!
I believe this is the same strat he had on tour with Miles. It is far from stock, as you might guess. I read the pickup layout somewhere but can't remember where, duh....I seem to remember there is a stacked pickup or more in this lineup.
so good!
I can´t describe how much I love a Strat tone. Ironically, I have a Les Paul...

first It's not the same, and you know that.
Rui Filipe h
Yup, wish he would play Strats far more than he does. Saw him kill on one at a Fillmore show...
he says a few years later he's on the lookout for the LP for him, even more than his trusty old Teley.
Sometimes you feel like a Strat, sometimes you don't.

Sonny Cannon don’t be
@@geetarnut Wait - Strats have a 4h switch position??
@@tinman5322 5 mic positions indeed
Strat looks very familiar, like the one he played when touring with Miles.
Shaking All Over!!!
I was just about to clap, when the song was over. Seriously.
Pl@ying with chords.... nice.
A match grip drummer that sounds like the traditional grip players
No one hates Strats !! My bet is 95% of all Pro's own at least one - Ashley !!!
+Prog X You'll find all kind of people, but Its pretty sure that Robben never would say that, maybe I'm wrong, but he is a musician and he could say that prefers others guitars for some reasons...but hate...umm nop
Chris Chaney on Bass. Great LA Player.
hij is göëd he ,ik ken hem al lanģ
Norhing that he plays is by chance. Bruce Lee of the guitar.
Using bridge pickup on the strat.. still sounds great though
Big Fan. Ford is a master of nuances... Miles left his effect.
EXACT descriptive word i use...
oh baby!
Dig it! :)
This guy really likes strat bridge pickups.
❤❤❤❤❤
some folks gots talent. Me, I just hack around on the guitar tryin'...
Shit this is good.
gary novak - killing solo
best guitare !!!!
BUENA ROLA ESTAAA!
Cool. I thought it was just me...
Freakin 'drummer is GOOD! That was sick!.... And I love Mr. Ford! But that groove was sweet!
Mantab
woah... are you in?
Everyone's great of course but have not had the pleasure of drummer- yes !
Amazing tone! Don't think i've seen him with a strat before!
I just wish this kinda musicians would travel more often to 3th world places...
haha, I was thinking the same thing. :)
I always wonder why rob didn't use a strat so often...
I've been wondering the same thing. He sounds amazing with a Strat! I guess he loves his Tele way too much 😂
He’s used a strat a lot in his career, touring with Miles, Edgar Winter and Michael McDonald,to name a few. Just not much lately.
It bothers me so much that the only instrument in this recording that is recorded in mono is Robben's Strat.
how does he get the action so low on that strat. Mine rattles like crazy with such low action,...his tone is outstanding though,as is his phrasing !
thick strings maybe(just guessing)
@@metallica3604 ROBBEN SAYS HE USES ADDARIO 10-46...
a santana tribute at the start?
Primeira vez que vejo Robben tocar com uma stratocaster. Muito legal!

gary novak = the best drummer ever !!
Anyone know who the drummer is?? He looks familiar,, just can't place him?!?!?!
+Sonny Cannon The drummer is Gary Novack.
Gary Novak.
What timing is that in?
yogichronic1 needs to go back to his Megadeath sides and leave this to the adults. Geez dude...
What is this from?
That maple fretboard tone.
Holy fuck Robben, stop oranging your hair & keep that strat inside your hands...
what's the nam of the bassist please ?
Chris Chaney

Wooow!!!! Someone has anger issues. I have the chops to jam with this guy and give him a run for his money; how about you?
Yer an idiot. And that's all I have to say about that. Plus I don't claim to have played with groups I have never played with before; like yourself. I have never heard of you so you must be a hack yourself.
You're unimportant to me.
You know, I said nothing about Robben Ford himself; I was talking guitars, I thought, with other guitar players. ***** I was at the Orlando gig. Your "Check, 1,2" solo brought the house down.
Not bad...
Today was the day I found out who this guy is, Wow pure filth
I didn't know, that Jared Leto was a bassist
Stratocaster
Malfoy on bass!
what year strat is that or is it a custom shop or RI usa?
they are expansive cause fucking God Dollar is just too much...
Doesn't look right with a Strat. Says he hates them. Still sounds great though.
Do he hates them? Who told you?
He has said in interviews.
Interesting, could you link me the video here , please?
I watched that months ago. Look for it yourself.
Ashley Mann it sounds good 'cause it's Robben's fingers and it's plugged into a Dumble ;)
they‘re good but to me music should be more than showing off things. it would have more sense to me with some singing. but then it‘s a matter of taste.
Really ?
seems like a sound check tune .
