Hey Frankie, have you tried putting the onion in the fridge or freezer for a little while before cutting? Maybe 5-15 minutes depending on which one you use.
A big trick for the onions is to not cut the root for as long as possible If you slice or dice the onion but keep the root there until the end all the sulfurous compounds that burn your eyes stay inside Ive also noticed when I worked at Sonic that white onions dont hurt my eyes but Vidalia/Spanish ones do (we were having floor work done and the contractor thought I was inhuman cause I wasnt crying xD I had never noticed before, but soon as we switched to yellow onions my eyes were screwed

If you put a wet paper towel or cloth next to your cutting board, you won't cry. I was skeptical but it works!
