    Such a gorgeous book - each shed is unique and inspiring, and I love all the tiny details Kotite features to help readers imagine how to create their own She Sheds th-cam.com/users/postUgkxe9yi0sulKgsp0VJJCIrLWWkvVqcU7LFR . The feature on Dinah's Rustic Retreat is like something from a fairy tale. It's really inspiring to see how creative all these ordinary people are in making beautiful and useful spaces on a modest scale.

      @@amathonn First of all "peel n stick" roofs require a smooth surface to adhere to. That's why they make a "base" sheet underlayment that installs first. Then the peel n stick membrane adheres to that. Second you NEVER put a nail in it! Especially in the overlap seam! Third it requires a edge metal that goes around the perimeter edge for it to adhere to correctly to prevent wind from getting under and blowing it off! I honestly don't know how people get by doing shotty work like this!! I promise you it didn't stick and you could pull it up with ease! People PLEASE check your contractors credentials and get references before hiring them!

      TH-cam (trained) roofers are the entire reason why consultants get paid so much.
      When you have entire companies who's combined experience is "well I saw the video but I couldn't quite understand the code books or manufactures label" and lawyers just see "huh, he has a license", you spend years in arbitration, just to have guys like this pay for complete reroof, framing, drywall, and other consequential damages.
      Except they dont. Because 9/10 times their "company" is dissolved before the first rainstorm and the phone number is a disconnected burner.

    Um... holy crap. this is an underlayment where the manufacturer specifically states NEVER to apply to an old roof but to ONLY apply "directly to plywood, OSB (Oriented strand board), wood planks, concrete, or masonry or Loadmaster surfases. Weather Watch Leak Barrier should be covered with roofing as soon as possible and no more than 60 days after installation" quote from SDS. I honestly think this guy got this confused for peel and stick roofing, of which he still would have done wrong. I mean, geez the amount of lawsuit-worthiness is beyond comprehension with this one.

      This is not underlayment. It's a Rolled roofing material.

    • @misterlyle.
      @misterlyle. 3 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@mrreams711 As noted above, product instructions clearly indicate that the WeatherWatch material has a limited time after installation before the final roofing is installed over it. If exposed for too long, UV damage may occur, the product lifetime will be shortened and the warranty will expire. Others have used WeatherWatch as the final roofing treatment as well, but this is not in compliance with the manufacturer's instructions. It obviously works, but the durability and performance over time will suffer.

    The video is priceless. The job is also priceless as no one should ever pay for what he did. Once I saw his pants covered in paint and mud, immediately I said to my wife “this clown is not a roofer”. The video, however, gave me a number of emotions: rage, laughter, tears, shock, it kept me in suspense on how he is going to finish the last row. The culmination “tucking it under J-channel” was that twist I haven’t seen in movies since Inception. The ending will leave me wondering about the outcome and I will never know, even though I suspect... Therefore, this masterpiece of a short film deserves 👍🏻

    no this is not rolled roofing, this is weather watch ice and water shield, as a previous comment stated it is not meant to be exposed to the elements. the way it works, is as an underlayment. the tar in the asphalt on the rubber sticky backing heats up and seals off nail heads. use this material as an underlayment for all your eaves, valleys, and roof to walls. any time you use ice and water shield use cap nails and remove all the backing, as well as the plastic strip at the transition (avoid nailing 3" from each side of the valleys)
    here is what you should do
    1. Remove everything down to the decking, or tear out the decking and install new decking, best way to go is with a zip system. use new drip edge with an asphalt primer
    2. Use SA Base sheet Run it under the new drip, with cap nails the run cap sheet over the top of it let it hang over the drip about 1/2"
    3. take of the siding and run both base and cap sheet 8" up the wall and put roll flashing, zip tape the roll flashing on then reinstall the siding

      Ok so the International Code Council is only literally the governing body of code and has been since the late 90s, they are far to new and inexperienced. Clearly we need someone with closer to your experience and clearly infallible knowledge.

      Before you open your mouth and look stupid do some research it's not underlayment and it's not ice and water sheild. This is rolled roofing designed to be used where torch down is used. The difference is instead of using a torch to make it sticky it comes with a very very sticky industrial adhesive. It's also 3-4 times thicker then underlayment and this isn't ment to go unset and other roof. It's designed to be on top..
