I was raised there long ago. Thanks for putting out a great video considering it was your first time there. As a historical note the bridge still has the large pipes that carried Croton reservoir water to the water tower that steadied the pressure before going down to the long gone reservoir on 42nd & Fifth Ave (1800’s). The much needed water power boosted NYC development to what we have today.
I remember when the Bronx was majority Black and some Puerto Ricans but now it's majority Spanish-speaking people... The elders in my family remember when there was an Irish and Italian majority.
Years ago the New York Central had a High bridge stop. I would take the train home from Manhattan and walk up lots of stairs to the apartment I lived in. Took about 12 minutes.
Manny it was great, Bronx is beautiful and your so right Manny the media is always painting a bad picture about the Bronx I just don't pay them know mind none what so ever everywhere is bad In every city there a lot a cities much worse than new York so I enjoyed the tour and keep up the good work and may God keep you safe my brother
I grew up in Highbridge Gardens in this area and there were Jews and Italians there long time ago. I now live in Florida and you couldn’t pay me to move back to the Bronx or anywhere in New York.🤢
Definitely a quiet vibe over there at the Bronx.. the Joker stairs!
