The Begleitpanzer 57 is a German infantry fighting vehicle that sits at a battle rating of 9.3. I've always said that the Begleit, affectionately referred to as the bagel panzer by some, was extremely underrated. The Begleit received a massive buff a few months back, giving it a dual axis stabilizer, doubling the ready rack size, and increasing turret traverse speed. The Begleit can now comfortably shred pretty much anything it comes across. I do find it highly amusing that Gaijin didn't preemptively raise its BR when that change was made.

volumetric shells are a good idea (sort of) implemented very poorly by a company that isn't particularly motivated to fix things

Fun fact about the Begleitpanzer, its still missing a few things, chief among them is an APFSDS round, which was developped for it, but online documentation for it hasnt been found, and BEA systems which was contacted about the subject did say it existed but would not release info on it unfortunately.
Theres a document in a library/archive in Germany about thr beglditpanzers ammunition iirc, but it hasnt been digitized and seemingly nobody that cares about the begleit and plays WT lives near enough to it to go and check.
And a other issues with the data from the APFSDS is, it's still classified

@@bisky9105 it would go from not being able to pen the drivers port of a T72 to being able to pen the drivers port a BVM. It would be similar to the VCC 80/60 but instead of a 2 second reload it would be 0.3.
@@GUIZAR-kr2cj how much do we actually know about the apfsds shell? Yeah basically nothing. It could make the difference, but at the same time it could also not make the difference
@@bisky9105 Yea we know nothing but using the 60mm as a base (Around 220) and the 40mm on the cv90(around 170). It will have likely around 200mm. Could be completely wrong because velocity, projectile mass and shell composition can effect shell penetration. But the T72 drivers hatch can already be penetrated by 30 APFSDS and the 60mm can penetrate the T80s drivers hatch so its up for debate.
If people didn't think the Begleit was ever good, they weren't playing against Germany in 2020. While it wasn't the main thing that made fighting them terrible, it definitely didn't help. I can't fathom how a 57mm autocannon could have ever been "bad", especially when it's dual-purpose anti-ground and anti-air, and VERY good at anti-air for not being dedicated anti-air.

Well, the 57 in the Begleit was taken from a Swedish *warship* so it was expected to be mounted on a rocky hull that would have to deal with both and sea targets at varying ranges.

i Played before the Buff and then i didn even have a problem wiht it but now it is even better
Begleit did go up to 8.7 when the buffs were added on live but got upped to 9.0 and then 9.3 in a few weeks.

The bagel panzer is one of those tanks that is good at literally any battle rating you put it at, but still just as vulnerable at and br. It's pros are useful no matter the situation and it's cons can be exploited by even reserve level tanks at times because of how thin the armor is.
That's the same for the bmp2m tho. Almost all light tanks/ifvs even

I can confirm, as a Japan top tier ground player that the Type 16 MCV works pretty well while being a 9.0 vehicle
It has just the right amount of pen to go through conventional tank weakspots (except maybe the Leo 2A6), it's 2nd gen thermals for the gunner and commander do wonders too and it has quite a good mobility.
The only downside I see in the MCV is it's transmission which has only 5 forward gears

It went up in BRs before it even received those buffs. Also engine and ready-rack buffs happened before stabiliser and gun-handling, like, 2 patches before.

Yea, it was 8.3 initially, was put to 8.7 with the buffs, then 9.3 along with PUMA in the same BR change
I remember playing the Begleit for the first time and being amazed by it’s performance. It was slow, big (I remember it being much bigger than it is now, or they changed the perspective), and there weren’T any animations for the tow. The fire rate was also the same as 40 mm bofors. The benefit, though, was that it had an autoloader with 120mm of pen with APHE. Nothing special when compared to the ZSU, but it has a TOW missile launcher. This was a fantastic vehicle already and I loved it so much. Now it’s still a good one shorting machine with improvements all around.
Acording to swedish testing, the 57mm bofors had so little differens to the 40mm bofors in Pen, that swedish designers thought it wasnt wourth to use cuz u couldnt carry as much ammo with the 57mm as u could with the 40mm. In game u can kill everything with the STRF 9040C from front, and the BILL version has top attack missiles, so i think the Strfs are pretty good. They should ad the MK 4 Strfs.
Begleit is pretty much equal to BILL 2 and better in some instances (I wrote here a comment about that) so either begleit should go up to 10.0 or Strf 9040s should go down to 9.3-9.7
So I really enjoy the Swedish 40mm but saying the kill easily from the front is just false. It "can" but it does so little module damage reliably that your either A expending most of the ready rack or B you don't remove weapons capability fast enough and are killed. Really annoying as before volumetric it was a little better but still terrible. 40mm APFSDS needs a damage model buff and holy fuck REMOVE THE DELAY for replenishing the ready rack holy fuck. I'd kiss whoever makes the ready rack change.

Ever since the Wirbelwind with HVAP-T Ive had a huge love and respect for rapid fire medium calibre cannons and their ability to fuck up tanks from the side. Nothing as funny then being an AA gun (and oversized at it with the Wirbel) and mowing down 4+ tanks in a row before they even realise u are there
That's why I love the Gepard. Got me a Nuke today. And those 40 shells of armor piercing are enough for 4 heavy tanks if the player is careful

It's fun to see one of my favorite vehicles used so effectively! I would have to say my favorite feature is the anti air rounds, I love being able to deny air force with just a button press and a few clicks.

The begleit used to be my favourite german light tank before the buffs and the main issue i had was the old ammo system it used alongside the lack of stabilizer, both of which got "fixed". Nowadays its basically the perfect flanking vehicle

Gotta love how gaijin gives the BMP-2M APFSDS ammo when all it really needed was to go up to 10.0+, while the BMP-3 and BMD-4 actually could use that ammo buff at 9.0 where they work best.

It'd be interesting to see your take on the Type 90, especially considering how much it is overshadowed by the Type 10. Personally I see it as being almost as good, mainly due to the larger ready rack and (atm) better handling in terms of mobility.

You should talk about lack of game modes. Gaijin seriously needs to either add/change game modes that are more diverse because it gets stale after awhile playing the same types of modes.
Alot of people say it gets stale (which is true) but the playerbase is still high.
I guess that **Target Destroyed** is what keeps the majority playing the game.
What many people forget is that not only have they not added more gamemodes, theyve REMOVED gamemodes. Break used to be a gamemode for ground forces, where did that go? Hell, what happened to historical events they used to do? Flight of the swallows, battle of britain etc?
@@CrazyDutchguys I've only been playing for about 3 years. But I remember the rush and pve tank modes they tested a while back. Those were actually fun and I wish they would have added them. They honestly need to replace the pve modes with something with attacking players and defending ai.

one of the most unsatisfying things in war thunder is hitting a barrel and it doing nothing, and watching heat rounds and atgms bounce
Comparing Begleit with Strf 9040s: It literally has twice ready rack size, twice faster replenishment of ready rack, 6 I-TOWs, better mobility, almost the same pen with better spall damage (because 57mm ap rounds and not the 40mm apfsds), better gun elevation and turret traverse, but still 9.3 when strf 9040c is 10.0 as well as Lvkv 9040 and BILL 2 (okay, Lvkv has radar, but still it’s elevation is quite poor for aa vehicle, and BILL 2 has better top-down atgm than TOW-2B, but has no armor and top apfsds round, Strf 9040c has the additional armor, but it’s only slows him down, it doesn’t add anything in terms of protection)
Now that it's at 9.3 , i think it deserve à better atgm like a TOW-2

I've always been a fan of this tank when i first saw it in Armored Warfare. it's got pretty much everything a starterpack tank would need. angled armor fairly well; has a nice gun, nice speed, and has a recoilless rocket.
I used to complain about the begleit before it was buffed because the air burst shells made cas impossible and it was able to shred tanks with atgms. The only balance for it was the lack of a stabilizer and the slow vertical targeting speed but now those are both gone and cas at 9.0 and up is basically dead because of it.

In my experience, German teams at any BR is like playing the lottery. They are either absolute trash, die once and leave the game OR they are god tier and are spawn camping the enemy team before you know it. There is no in between.

I think it's funny that in terms of war thunder the only few vehicles that fit that beginning meme are a light tank with 0 armor, a stupidly funny SPAA that can barely do the AA, wirbeldew, and some others I forgot. None of which are frontline MBTs yet outperform said MBTs tenfold at a usually lower BR.

SAP in this vehicle is very effective against light vehicles like SPAA and IFVs from the side. Hit them basically anywhere and it’s a one shot. It pens and detonates inside the tank with good reliability.
the begleit is the incarnation of all my cumulated revenge against CAS for grinding germany when USA CAS was at its peak and reaching 8.7 as soon as the A-4E buff got added
I can see how it's a good vehicle, but I personally despise fighting against it. Just its gun alone can kill my entire 8.7 lineup from all sides, not to mention it's an auto-cannon with proximity rounds.
I'd like to see you play some of the 75mm-armed Pz.IVs at 3.3-3.7 so I can learn better how to play them!

you act like they just added all those "buffs" to just add them for balance. In actuallity the real vehicle had all those stats and capabilitys and was therefore not represented well in the game. One of the rare cases where Gaijin actually reads all those bug reports with documents to support them.
So again - Begleit was not buffed. It was corrected to real live values!
And about those "one shots" - it is a 57mm autocannon. And think of it also from another perspective: The SD.Kfz 234/2 had a 50mm cannon with about the same penetration values as the 57mm from the begleit. However - the Pumas 50mm had about the same penetration values as a shermans 75mm...
So with that rapid fire of basicly Puma 50mm shells punching through your armor with every shell causing serious spalling...
Its is basicly a ww2 50mm antitank cannon in a full automatic form.

I got this when it first came out. It was good but not great so I stopped playing it. It then continually increased in BR and now it seems to be ideally suited to the game.
The latest buffs helped also.

My biggest gripe against volumetric is how much it seems to benefit Russian vehicles. I almost never find myself complaining about volumetric against things like Tigers or Sherman’s or Panthers. It’s always T-34 or KV-1 or IS-1/2 that I go, “oh yeah that should’ve penned, but volumetric 🙃.” Don’t even get me started on top tier Russia 😒 love getting a full broadside in a TURMS, but only killing the comm and 4 pieces of ammo(no ammo rack naturally.) And I LOVE when my M900 bounces off the mantlet of a T-80B or a TURMS????? Gaijin pls lol

People who think the puma is still op suck at the game. It's massive size was supposed to be compensate through having superior armor but instead it got raised and now literally everything butters through it. The cannon is actually trash, like I don't think I've ever played a tank with such bad spelling before like that. You literally have to shoot each individual crew member one by one and hope they don't turn around and shoot you. Russian tanks are basically impossible to kill reliably due to russian ammo racks never going off and overall it's just average for a tank at 9.3

The SAP shell has a bit less pen but the HE filler makes it worth it !
The big problem with the SAP shell is it cannot easily pen the sides of USSR MBTs, while the AP can go through relatively easily
Back then the sap was the superior choice you would lose only 20mm of penetration compared to the ap but gained the ability to one shot everything. It has more explosive mass than the long 88 shell

@@thomasmuller9928 Yea the new sap sucks even with those tanks sometimes. Back when it had 97 pen it was extremely good. Since it had really good angled pen you can pen an angled turms through the tracks. Although it only has 50mm on the side and 20 on the lower side it was still extremely satisfying.
