    Great video! i took my 96 ski nautique out for first time in 3 years and found it was hard to turn right and not to the left. I suspected that the steering cable needed replacement however when I got the boat on it`s trailer the boat steering wheel moved very easy in both directions. would you by chance have any insight you could share? Thanks in advance

      Thanks for the question. The place I would start would be where the cable attaches to the arm that turns the rudder. I would get someone to help you turn the steering wheel while you observe the mechanical junction to make sure it is functioning correctly. Hope you have a great day.

      @@kenpham1818 Ok. I don't know much about that specific boat. The two places where the cable attaches are under the dash it will connect to the steering with a rack and pinion. Then at the transom or rear of the boat, it will connect to the outdrive.

    I had a steering cable replaced last year. But it was aligned right because I cannot do a full turn left.. I can only do a full turn right. So, is the problem at rudder end or at the steering column .

    • @Sunni_days
      @Sunni_days  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      You could fix it at either end. I would probably start at the steering column side.

      Hey - after thinking about it over the weekend, you might be able to adjust it back at the rudder, but it might take a couple trouble shooting activities. Send me a message request on Facebook if you would like and we can see what we can come up with together. facebook.com/blake.wasden

      @@Sunni_days I had someone coming to try and figure it out, and I wanted to have an install video he could reference that was almost exactly like mine.. I thought well, I'll post my issue and maybe get some answers before he got there. Anyway., we figured out that the problem was definitely at the rudder end..Specifically the swivel tube. Mine has a 2 piece swivel nut that can be positioned up and down the length of the swivel tube, which allows the tube to be positioned in the bracket FWD or AFT. It was basically too far AFT., to where full right the rudder arm was hitting the back wall of the boat.. and turning left, the rod was bottoming out before the rudder could reach full turn. So we just moved the swivel pipe fwd enough to allow full range each way, and not hit the back wall of my boat. But, because the angle the steering line has to take from bracket to where it mounts to the arm,. Coming back from full right is hard it first, because you fighting 2 different angles. So I'm thinking I gotta move it more. I don't understand why the bracket wasn't placed farther out so the line is more straight to the arm. Stupid design.
