Location: Luang Prabang Night Market
The Luang Prabang Night Market is one of the most unique night markets in Southeast Asia. The night market is completely covered in in red and blue tents. The market is beautiful from above. As the sunsets the lights begin to come on, and the night market takes on a magical glow.
The Luang Prabang Night Market sells all kinds of local goods. Unlike other Southeast Asian countries. The market isn't filled with knock off goods. I didn't see a single pair of RayBans for sale. Instead the vendors were selling hand made jewelry and rice whisky with scorpions!
In comparison to other Southeast Asian countries, the night market is much smaller and the vendors are much less pushy. You could walk through the night market in about an hour, and only get hounded to buy things a couple of times.

The vlogs where Kara is grumpy are my favorite vlogs. I identify with her *so hard* when she's worried she won't like the food or doesn't have coffee yet. #MoreGrumpyKara
Hangry is not a fun place for me either. I get it Kara!
I actually appreciate that Kara decided to just let her feelings be rather than fake positive emotions in front of a camera. We all have our off days, and I think this just humanizes her and adds a more holistic picture to the whole travel experience :)
JENNIFER LI very much agreed.
It's so sweet how Nate always sacrifices for Kara when she doesn't like something. You're such an adorable couple!
Being 'templed out' in SE Asia has an equivalent here in Scotland called ABC - Another Bloody Castle. Great video and I love the atmosphere of "this city".
Planes, Trains, Everything. I studied abroad in Scotland and I was thinking the same thing😜
HAHAHA
I doubt that I'm the only one that thinks Kara is the funniest/cutest travel vlogger on TH-cam
I love the "templed out" definition. After successive trips to France, Italy and Spain we have felt the Euro version of this, "Cathedraled out":)
Jeff Anderson I felt the same about cathedrals in Italy
I really appreciate Kara being ‘hangry’ and keeping the vlogs so relatable. Travelling is hard and the changes in food or differences can be hard.
Wow, why so many rude people in this comment section? They've seen a LOT of temples in the last 2½ months. Give them a break if they're tired of them. It doesn't mean they don't appreciate culture. It's just they've seen enough for the time being.
I love how real this vlog was, it showed the truth of long term travel and how honest you guys are! So good.
I'm glad to hear you say you're templed out. I lived in Hong Kong in high school for a few years and definitely got templed out. I traveled for a couple weeks in the UK during that time and quickly became cathedraled out. And on a trip a couple years ago to Ireland after a couple weeks I became castled out. In fact, after three weeks of solid travel I was in London and couldn't bring myself to go into one more museum and went and saw a movie instead.
I had to laugh when Kara and Nate came out of the first temple when Nate asked how she liked it. I totally thought they edited in the bicycle horn sound in place of her laughing or something. I am loving these videos. Thank you so much for sharing!
I know you probably won't see this, cuz this video's really old, but I've been going through a really rough time lately with stuff involving my school (I'm in between bachelors and grad's) and being stuck doing nothing and you guys' videos are one of the things that's getting me through this with my sanity intact.
I love watching you guys and you remind there are better times to come for me.
So glad we could help! Good luck with school 💞
@Kara and Nate
I'm just over the moon that you replied.
You guys are the greatest :):)
aww the lady selling cards was so cute!
8:00 for a few I loved that clip, time lapses and music. Plus other scenes with the music.
Your smile persevered Kara... my FAV episode so far! "Just remove and move on"...
I recently visited Laos and the Night Market is absolutely amazing - the Indigo Cafe next to the market stalls was great as well!
You're honest! Love it..kids go to bed. I binge watch lol! I started from the beginning
This is one of my favorite Asian cities y’all have visited. It appears more laid back and very authentic!
I like Kara's t-shirt and black skirt outfit the best, out of all her outfits so far!
You guys really inspire me to travel. So many places to go and so many things to see
You guys are so cute together and very entertaining to watch! Safe travels! I look forward to more videos from you guys :)
I follow several couples sailing or globetrotting over a period. National characteristics are really not stereotypes, but are recognizable in several ways you expect. Kara and Nate are very American.
We lived in a French area in Burkina Faso, North West Africa for two years. We had a little boutique behind our house that sold fresh bagettes every morning. Oh my! Yummy! :) :)
I love watching all your videos but I really enjoy the positive more than the negative. I’m sure you guys realize how lucky you are now, because I don’t really notice the same thing in your newer videos ❤️❤️
A very easy fix the enlighten mood. You know wich buttons to press to make that happen for sure Nate. :D I wish we could see more of the colonial street. Perhaps you can make a vlog about arcitecture you found nice all over. One other thing. The worst things Kara ate and one for Nate. :D Would be fun to watch. First temple was gorgeous. I wish the cuts was longer that a milisecond. I get that Kara was templed out after Ankor what. :D Such a nice relaxing vlog. And she had money when Nate left her. Phew!
When kept saying it keeps going on and on I made me think of the song that never ends.
Did they make you take your shoes off before entering the temple? If so, are you required to do this at all temples? Love your vlogs..watching the playlist Watch From the Beginning..the playlist I am currently viewing claims 700+ videos, but many repeat several times. Confusing to keep up with what I haven't seen.. Thank you for sharing your travels..Can't wait to finish this playlist and see what you've been up to recently. Take care!
I lived in England for a semester, I was castled our out. That feeling is totally normal
I fully relate with Kara; NEEDS morning coffee; coffee = mood enhancer; eggs and bacon brekky
moving through watching them all day 4 covid 19 pandemic tour 2020
me too! i stumbled on these two last month and have a daily dose of their travels randomly. then decided to start over from the very beginning! these two DEFINITELY grew over the years (*whew* thankfully). these early episodes expose a side of people like them that are stereotypes unflatteringly
Great editing, Kara! Nailed the beats.
I absolutely love Kara and Nate. I am living vicariously through them. If you are still doing the post cards, let me know!
I’m templed out after two weeks in Bangkok, Chiang Mai, and Siem Reap! Give them a break, haters! They’ve been traveling for months
Kara shows great restraint! I would be buying everything!
I'm like Kara, love spicy, savory food over sweets any day!!
It’s really weird seeing Luang Prabang with tourists man. I’ve been here for two years without any tourists. I wish you had more blogs on Laos. It’s cool to see it so busy.
I would love to see yall revisit some of these countries now that yall have a little more in the budget :)
This is so late but I was in Luang Prabang and at 9:16 I went to the cafe that you were standing outside of. Amazing snacks
Excellent thank you for sharing
Jeez that place is so dreamy!!!
Oh my gosh, that girl who sold Kara that postcard... what a sweetie! Very gorgeous as well. Such a great smile. It's people like that that make your day. :-)
I am watching your video from India and I am watching your video at the time of lockdown
Gotta keep the toddler caffeinated. 😉. Croissant win fir Nate. 🎉
I just recently stumbled upon one of your videos and continued watching all the videos and decided to subscribed to your channel. I'm in love with your vlogs. I love traveling as well, I recognized a few places in Singapore when I went in 2007. And I've been to Thailand as well. I just have to say you two are amazing!
+mrsfluffy77 WOW thanks for the super nice comment!!! Yes Singapore was a great country! And Thailand is my fav :) Thank you so much and we are excited to have you following along!! :) -Kara
I understand Kara loves coffee and u both have likings to temples. So you must visit South part of India specially Karnataka and Kerela. U will definitely love it.
I have watched all your videos and subscribed to your channel. I'm like Kara, you see one temple, you see them all. I made it a rule that I will only visit one temple per country in Asia. Morning and night markets are my favorite time. That's where you get the best street food and meet all the local people.
+Paul Chen Haha that's a good rule to have!! I might need to steal it. And totally agree on markets - their my fav!
That soup looked amazing!
You guys to go back to Laos! Me as a Lao Canadian it’ll be so nice to see you guys travel there again!
When she came out of the first temple and that man was beeping his horn I thought it was her (4:55)
Me too...lol!
I feel this. So many breakfast foods are sweet and I never crave sweets.
Wow that girl selling the cards was cute! . . and I would have eaten that whole row of fried fish :)
I love cranky Kara in these older vlogs
i love grumpy kara because grumpy kara is still so much nicer than i would be in any of these situations. not knowing how to order food and being concerned that i won't like something turns me into a total brat.
Well, at least there wasn't any Ants in the soup this time round haha
always a plus ;)
cant wait for the next blogs..
+hosny ali rahman we are glad you are enjoying them! :)
Found your channel a couple weeks ago and am enjoying your vlogs. Went back and watched all of them. Hope Viet Nam is on your list of countries to visit.
+sillylives Aww yay! So glad to have you following along! We are going to Vietnam next week! :)
Kara and Nate, love following you two...chat with your Mom (Nate) on Wednesdays at Shalom Zone and pray for y'all often! Stay safe and be careful!
+Cristy Ricker Aww fun! Thanks for following along with us! And for the prayers :)
Nate you are a saint lol
We absolutely loved Luang Prabang, and I definitely was over temples too!! Get some bikes and go for a ride 😁
+Travelling NZnomads What's not to like?! You read my mind, we biked out of town yesterday!
I am templed out too, agree with Kara!
That temple just scrapped in, it’s $2.78 AUD 👏🏼👏🏼❤️😂
Kara has come such a long way 😂
ive not been to the temples and im templed out too!
Congratulations you can speak Laos. (Khob chai = thank you) Two thumbs up for Nate for correctly calling people from Laos. Did you come across a coconut sticky rice cooked in bamboo yet? a MUST try, its so yummy. And also must try a green papaya salad (it's called Tam Som) Laos version, ask them to make it not too spicy otherwise your mouth will burn. Good luck and keep up the good blog. I can't wait to watch the next vblog. thank you!
+slee0687 Glad you are still enjoying! I'm glad we have the lingo figured out finally! Haha and no we havent seen bamboo rice but that sounds amazing - will look today for sure! Oh & we finally had pork sausage with sticky rice... YUM!! Thanks for the recommendation :)
+slee0687 Hi. May I correct you? The language is actually called "Lao", not "Laos" because Laos is the name of the country. i.e. "speak Lao". Also, the correct adjective to use is "Lao", so you should have said the "Lao version" instead of "Laos version" because "Laos" is a noun only. It is not an adjective. Therefore, the word that has greater weight is "Lao" because it is used to describe the people, food, and culture, whereas "Laos" is simply and only used as the name of the country.
Its so weird to see Kara anything but super happy all the time lol
thanks for sharing, I missed my homeland:(
There is a European version of templed out. The ABC tour (another bloody cathedral) tour.
Nate is a cutiepie❤️
❤️❤️❤️
It is more crowded and more cars during yr visit compared to my visit in 2013, the town has changed a lot
What kind of meat was in that cow soi? My wife wants to know!
After I graduated high school my mom brought me to China and Hong Kong (I'm American born Chinese) for a month. We had Asian food for the entire stay, which was delicious! However, by the last week all I wanted was McDonald's and an American burger 😅 I was Chinese food out. Hahahahha
Nice.. It's my city
Really well put together video and incredible editing. Which one of you has the background in film? This is the first time Kara was acting like a brat. I can see why the both of you get along so well as Nate seemed to just roll with the punches and Im sure Kara does the same when Nate is having a bad day.
Kara does the editing. They say it many times ✔
I need to catch up on your vlogs 😂😂😂 I started work again after I broke my ankle and been so busy
+Darren Johnston Haha I'm glad you're up and going again! Thanks for watching! :)
YAYAAYAYAY! :) *happy dance*
+Lisa Semain Hahaha I'm dancing with you sista!
That bread looked yummy
+peepercoco it was :)
the girl only said you are beautiful, kara, because you are beautiful.
I would buy the necklace over the temple visit any day. Seen one, seen them all.
My wife is from Mauritius and she really laughed at the man on his bike honking his horn. It reminded her of a street food vendor selling little brioche rolls filled with coconut. A childhood memory. We are wondering what he was selling.
Try to visit Myanmar, it's beautiful!
+Ping Flores we'd love to!
Nice - LP looks gr8 - brilliant question - what kinda vaccinations did ya get before going to SE Asia? - cause you never seem really sick and seem to go everywhere - gr8 editing and cinematoghraphy as usual btw......:-)
+Space Hobo We got typhoid and yellow fever vaccinations and will take malaria meds in africa :)
Do you notice people waving at your camera as you walk by lol. That is hilarious.
Wish I had your camera.
So that market just kept going like the energizer bunny rabbit.
I would probably just used LP, though from knowing the very few SEA languages ang or uang are usually ong sound so pronounciation of Long Prabong wouldn't be unusual
Hi Kara and Nate, I'm planning a trip to luang prabang, could u share with me ur itinerary? and also would u reccomend luang prabang or siem reap if i just wanna have a relax holiday?
2021
Hope your stomach feels better nate
“Remove and move on” …❤️
Kara and Nate, which hotel did you stay at? Thanks!
02:45 I wonder what happens to Lisa now.
i also think it would get boring seeing temple after temple. I see how you could get templed out.
My sense of luang prabang is its much more peaceful than chang mai. is it liveable? cause give me some good night market food and I'm happy!
+Gianna Giavelli definitely peaceful but I think I'd get a little bored there! Chiang Mai is much more livable in our opinion :) but Luang Prabang was very nice for a few days but that's all you need!
thanks guys you are so sweet to respond to my questions! OMG I'm about to get plane tix and visa. I have a house here so my first trip over will be 6 weeks but I worry with november being in the busy season I might need to pre-book it rather than just show up.
I felt exactly the same why in Europe. After going to churches in France (Notre Dame, St. Chapelle) England (Westminster Abbey) Italy, (Cortona, Florence, Rome, Assissi - too numerous to name). I declared myself DONE!
+Kara and Nate Great videos about Laos! The city of Luang Prabang is pronounced as "Loo-ah-ng Prah-bah-ng", but it is comprised of just three syllables so say "Looahng Prah-bahng". Please never say Luang Pra-"bang" that rhymes with the English word "sang" because that just sounds weird and crude to native ears. :) Lastly, "Khop Chai" (thank you) is actually pronounced more like "Khop Jai", which is another way to romanize the spelling.
Lombok is the next Bali. slightly cheaper than Bali. check em out
Who’s here in 2023 🙋🏻♀️
Would've been nice to see more than 5 seconds of the temple!
2018 anyone? That is my country 🇱🇦
come to the UK then go to the isle of wight.
They say theyve had no bread in asia but have been demolishing naan BREAD every chance they got.
Nate looks like Cristiano Ronaldo
