@@PhaseDriveVlogs oh btw man, if you are still interested in projectors, I would say that the best bang for your buck are Blitzwolf projectors, especially BW-VP6. You can use bluetooth speakers! I have the Yaber V6 that I’ve been using for a few months and I use Logitech z407 bluetooth speakers. I connect them to my fire stick. This method won’t work with Roku since Roku doesn’t have a Bluetooth function. If you connect the speakers to the projector itself there is definitely a noticeable lag that is frustrating. I just personally wasn’t a fan of the built in speakers so this worked perfectly for me. I also connect the speakers to my bluray player that I have set up with the projector. I find the projector looks amazing when using a hardwired source like this compared to streaming but streaming also looks great for me as well :) I understand what you mean by keeping your tv. I also have a 4K tv because I do enjoy 4K resolution and not worrying about walking in front of the image sometimes or if I have ambient light coming in. This is a great review! Very balanced, thanks 😊
@Phase Drive Vlogs I subscribed 5mins in because this was a very solid & honest review. I wish you could buy & review a lot more of these generic Amazon/EBay electronics, as not all of us can afford high end gear all the time
This is the second or third time I've stumbled across your channel when searching for specific things in the last couple months, and I just want to thank you for this in-depth look at an actually affordable projector! I've been looking around for a couple days now for a decent one myself. We did have an extremely cheap one from Amazon a few years back (like £20-£50 cheap) but that one had a horrible green-tint to everything no matter what, was barely 480p and never seemed in focus. I was beginning to think that you HAVE to spend £500 minimum for a decent viewing experience, but it's nice to see that there are affordable options out there, so thank you for this.
You got a sub friend. Thank you for taking time and being so honest. I've actually ended up with Artlii Energon 2. There are just so many options out there with the same components under different names it's overwhelming.
Not only is this the best review of a projector I have seen in a while, you also know what you are talking about! The amount of distortion some the other designs have with cheap plastic Fresnel lens's is ridiculous. I had a Vankyo V620 for a while, but could never get a sharp image.
I’ve had a yaber Y30 projector for a while and it’s extremely good for the money, put a white screen behind it to brighten it up, hooked it up to some cinema speakers and I can’t complain
Hi! I don't know if you'll read this, but I just wanted to thank you for making this video! I love watching films, and I've been thinking about buying a projector but I don't have much money to do so. Therefore, I searched for an affordable projector but with a '1080p' / high quality. Thank god I stumbled upon this video! You've explained everything so clearly, and thanks to you I was able to made up my mind. The projector's arrived today, and now we're using it. It's absolutely worth it! The quality is amazing! Thank you again!
Sam - we’ve just ordered this model based on your review, as a birthday present for our daughter. Good review - you sold it to us. Thanks! We’ll see what she thinks!
After a year of purchasing my wimius k1 I started to see a brown haze appear on the screen.I emailed the manufacturer about it.. They responded asking for photos which I then sent them. I am yet to hear from them.
Thanks for providing such a clear and straight forward review. Especially good to hear about the fan appearing to be a user serviceable part. Convinced me to purchase, cheers!
Good review, but I did buy and just today returned… love the Amazon return process, so easy. Biggest gripe, fan noise, 2nd biggest grip, keystoning has a huge affect on focus. Impossible to get focus when text is on the screen with keystone set to -10. Could only get a sharp focus on one part of the screen and no happy medium. Picture was more than acceptable and brightness was fantastic. My db app had the fan at 53db while my 12 year old 1080p Optoma that’s in dire need of a bulb was only producing 42dB. Even in full 7.1 surround, you still have parts that are quiet in the movie and all I can hear is that fan. So, I guess I’ll just splurge on a bulb, old is still good lol. Cheers.
Very good and honest review this guy covered a lot of the points to look out for in projectors. However there was no mention of whether there was any 3D capabilities maybe it has none where as most projectors have that feature which I believe is an awesome feature which 3d TVs could never match. But as I say the guy has given a very good and honest appraisal of a budget projector for the price you can't really complain.
Great review man. Honest and to the point on all aspects. I would like to mention that I'Ve used several Anker speakers through BT and never ever had any issues with them. Also, it could be just be because I'm watching through TH-cam but the fan noise did sound quite loud in fairness. Obviously movie audio can drown that out depending on your projector placement...
Great video! I've been watching dozens of budget projector reviews and this is going to be my last one. I'm also a quality snob, but I'm on a budget so this seems perfect. Plus this projector is on sale for Black Friday! Thanks again
Great review, very helpful. I'd been looking at this projector and this video was full of info and answered all the questions I had. Bought this one now. Can't wait for it to arrive now!
I just bought it and when I connect the phone to see Netflix, it reproduces the sound but not the video. Also when I connect HDMI to my laptop, it shows the screen duplicated and on the bottom a green square. Does anybody know how to change it?
used projectors are often fine at most replace the bulb, the build quality tends to be so much better that a good projector can last a lifetime, im still running an optoma HD141x which is 1080p and even 720p120hz for gaming, running great for 6 years so far and only recently replaced the bulb, when the projector was only £399 when i got it back then and only £90 for a bulb it stands to reason that paying that extra ammount for quality projector that will definitely last and will mostly definitely have a standard 4 to 6 year warranty for the extra price definitely outweighs the negative that cheap projectors often come with, namely the short bulb life and how much dimmer they get quickly and finding replacement parts for a none brand projector is next to impossible and even when they do put out parts they again become difficult to find after only a year or two
Thanks A LOT! This is exactly the kind of review i needed, and feel very identified with some of the experiences you told with other proyectors, and a bunch of doubts you've cleared that i could say "I knew it!" (but i didn't, lol). Really, great job.
for the cost its pretty allright, I bought the toptro on sale for around 180€ since we just moved in another apartment where there's this giant empty wall in the living room, I didn't want to spend 1k on a 75'' tv to fit that space so... this was the perfect option...what u lose in resolution from a 4k smart tv, you forget right away the first time u chill there in front of this giant "screen" that costs me less than a 24'' monitor...
Most informative! I have been thinking about a digital projector for a while now, but I know next to nothing about them and the price also put me off. I took in a lot of good info with this video, and it seems I don't have spend a fortune to get a good start at least. If I find it suits me then I can maybe think about investing a bit more, but this is a good 'give it a try' option.. Thanks a lot, appreciated!
I have a JVC X790 for the home theater and this projector for the kid's bedroom. There is no comparison, of course. The JVC is superior in every way imaginable. However, these inexpensive Chinese projectors generally work well for the price. The kids love it. It's also nice to watch sports from time to time or UFC PPV or just have a movie night outdoors. Just be sure to use the Bluetooth audio from the Firestick or nVidia Shield, not the Bluetooth built into the projector.
Great review. I probably agree with your preferance against the manual keystone adjustment, however for a different reason. You say it adds an extra layer of poor optics. I would say it's more the fact it knocks the focus out between the top and bottom of the picture. When you lift the lid, your projector has a 45 degree mirror. It's just yours is fixed apposed to a manual adjust that moves. I would advise anyone to try to mount the projector as central as possible to the screen.
Excellent review and guide! Covers pretty much all the relevant points for me to choose to purchase for my nephew and his family. I come from a home movie background of Super 8mm, 9.5mm and 16mm and for many years electronic projection didn't "do it" for me. Raj and I finally went digital about 10 years ago and in 2012 I splashed out on a used Panasonic PT AE 1000 which we project on to a 60 ins wide old tripod screen and play sound through Yamaha 5 channel receiver. Oops ... I am starting to ramble! I love the projected image. Cheers!
I have a Yaber one for the kids. They do animated movies, cartoons, kids shows real well. But for movies, especially in low light scenes, it's no match for a high end projector. But for things kids enjoy, it's perfect and cheap and you will definitely get your money's worth for that.
I've been searching youtube for days watching reviews on projectors. I've seen loads now but yours is definitely the best and most informative 👌 thanks. I have a £500 budget do you have any recommendations?
It's perfect except for the gaming aspect - I really wonder about what the best budget projector for gaming is. Everything else is wonderful though, it's a shame about the response time!
INCREDIBLE REVIEW, I just wanted a decent product at a relatively affordable price and you gave me that, THANKYOU! Most of the youtube vids covering projectors are terrible for some reason. would you recommend any projector screen for this unit at a good price?
8:16 - "white label" might have been the better term to use here instead of "private label"... However, the actual point is still relevant/valid regardless of which term is being used
superb thorough review, thanks. i've had mid range and budget projectors and always had to send them back due to dust and brown heat patch on inner lens. great that you can open this to clean. thanks for showing that - 3 questions 1 - there seems to be a removable panel on one side - is this a cleanable filter access? 2 - the fan noise, do you have a do you have a db measurement? 3 - i'm pitching this against a Bomaker 9000:1 contrast that seems to have much more punching colours, whilst your video shows them to be pretty pastel even with your adjustments - for example skin tones are crucial as you know, but so are whites and block colours in things like clothing. i know you're never going to get it perfect but do the image controls allow for realistic saturation without losing say fabric texture and even fastenings on someone's coat? with cheap projectors these are the things that determine quality, so that people don;t walk around in dull clothing or clothes that are just blocks of colour. 4 - there is NO, NO 4th thing, is that clear?
1) yep, there's a removable dust filter which you can very easily access and clean 2) I don't have a proper measurement, but I believe it falls between 30 and 40db if you're sat reasonably close 3) I can't really comment on specifics of contrast ratio and colour reproduction. But all I will say there is I was able to get a reasonably accurate image based on the settings shown in the video (though I have since dropped the contrast and brightness a little to reduce highlight blowout). 4) And I have no answer 😉
Excellent unbiased review, thanks. It may seem a silly question, but: My wife has a 720p projector, and would like upgrade to 1080p as we have lots of movies of that format on SD Cards and USB sticks as well as SSD cards. So, the question is ... What is the maximum capacity USB drive that can be plugged in? I have approx 200GB of movies stored.
What sound amplifier would you suggest. We use a sound bar but we find that the sound is slightly off to the image and also it's not loud enough and everything's hardwired
You forgot the low power consumption of these Chinese LED projectors, these run at about 145 watts in use, while most ( XENON) BULB projectors consume around 300 to 400 Watts per hour, also in summer these don't heat the room to much...
Hey, thanks for sharing your experience! Qq, does night screen mode transfer to the projector's light? If so, how does it affect the image quality? If not, is there an in-built night mode. By night mode I mean warmer light. Thanks in advance!
Hi is this one 3D compatible ? I've heard any DLP projector is capable of displaying 3D, it's just a matter of wether or not it is implemented in software. Thanks for the great review !!
I was wondering about the refresh rate on the K8 that I bought and Wimius responded back telling me it is only 30hz refresh rate. That is disappointing as this is the top and newest model. The K1 and K3 Wimius said is 60hz. Is this a big deal? Do you have experience with the K8 before. Considering if I should return K8 and get newest updated K1 with more lumens and 12,000 contrast ratio now.
Do you know a mobile (Power over Battery-Pack) projector with around 720p and not to dim for under 100€/$/CHF? I don't need any WLan, Bluetooth, ... only HDMI because I will use it with the Chromecast.
Question - there's 2 for sale locally here, this exact model and an older hitachi ultravision 3dlp (native 720p). older but would have been about 4grand back in 2006 or so.. both 200 bux.. any idea what would be better?
Hi, yes the fire stick's bluetooth should be a good alternative to the crappy bluetooth in the projector itself. I usually use my firestick bluetooth connection with sony wireless headphones or a soundbar with the projector and it works great!
Hi mate, quick question, I'm looking for a budget projector for rear projection filmmaking and I had tried it out with a 60 quid one and had lots of flicker, did you have any flicker when filming footage of the projector with your camera ?

8:16 - "white label" might have been the better term to use here instead of "private label"...
However, the actual point is still relevant/valid regardless of which term is being used
Thanks for the video. I decided to buy one, it came today but I can't get the lens cover off. Does it just pull off? Thanks again.
@@chriswalker83cw Sometimes the cover is a little stiff and needs a little extra force. Try turning the focus wheel until it's pushed out.
@@PhaseDriveVlogs thanks, I managed to pry something under it, it was really on though. Really impressed with it £50 off atm on amazon too.
Thanks for the review. Really informative and thorough.
Dude, what a great review.
Hey, thanks!
superb thorough review, thanks. i've had mid range and budget projectors and always had to send them back due to dust and brown heat patch on inner lens. great that you can open this to clean. thanks for showing that - 3 questions
1 - there seems to be a removable panel on one side - is this a cleanable filter access?
1) yep, there's a removable dust filter which you can very easily access and clean
2) I don't have a proper measurement, but I believe it falls between 30 and 40db if you're sat reasonably close
3) I can't really comment on specifics of contrast ratio and colour reproduction. But all I will say there is I was able to get a reasonably accurate image based on the settings shown in the video (though I have since dropped the contrast and brightness a little to reduce highlight blowout).
4) And I have no answer 😉
@@PhaseDriveVlogs thanks, i know you didn't expect a Spanish Inquisition
Excellent unbiased review, thanks.
It may seem a silly question, but: My wife has a 720p projector, and would like upgrade to 1080p as we have lots of movies of that format on SD Cards and USB sticks as well as SSD cards. So, the question is ... What is the maximum capacity USB drive that can be plugged in? I have approx 200GB of movies stored.
Great review, well done picking up all of the key issues. What external Bluetooth receiver would you recommend for this product please?
Thank you for such an informative review. Any plans to review the Wimius K8/ Toptro X3?
Absolutely terrific content. Very helpful.
Did u use a screen or wall when projecting? Can you just show images / picture from iPhones , usb stick etc. great review
What sound amplifier would you suggest. We use a sound bar but we find that the sound is slightly off to the image and also it's not loud enough and everything's hardwired
What appears to be the same projector is sold in Australia under brand ‘Devanti’ and they list their version as 300 ANSI Lumens
Excellent review!!!
Well made review, subscribed!
Much appreciated!
Thank you so much! This video was very useful!
Glad it was helpful!
Thanks for this review! How did you find this projector a year later? Still good image quality, dimmer, no burn in?
No burn in as of yet. Though I use this maybe once or twice a week for a movie night. Probably wouldn't want to use it as a TV replacement.
Great in depth review 👏
What will be better for the garden, one of these or an optoma 145x ? Will the optoma be worth the extra money ?
Thanks
Good job! Very informative.
Excellent review 👍 I think I ll buy currently on sale on Amazon uk
The fabric on top really bothers me though
One of the better ,you tube, projector reviews
Would you have a chance to review the bomaker parrot 1 projector ?
If someone sends us one, we'll review it...
Very informative, thank you! One question: Is the firestick’s bluetooth good enough to use for audio?
Hi, yes the fire stick's bluetooth should be a good alternative to the crappy bluetooth in the projector itself.
I usually use my firestick bluetooth connection with sony wireless headphones or a soundbar with the projector and it works great!
Who knows I returned mine after the chromecast with googletv didn’t work with it! No sound…
Nice review mate, much appreciated.
Glad to help
Thank you. Very helpful.
Hi mate, quick question, I'm looking for a budget projector for rear projection filmmaking and I had tried it out with a 60 quid one and had lots of flicker, did you have any flicker when filming footage of the projector with your camera ?
Great video. The hue or tint maybe available only in ntsc mode as opposed to pal if it can be switched or 50-60 KHZ?.
