  • In collaboration with Holcim, Cement Australia's GreenCem™ technology has been used for the first time to reduce embodied carbon in the concrete used to construct the City of Port Adelaide Enfield’s Yitpi Yartapuultiku Cultural Centre.
South Australia was the natural choice to launch this product because we feel our goals are compatible with the leadership demonstrated by the SA Government to set rigorous carbon reduction targets.
GreenCem™ technology enables up to 80% replacement of general purpose cement with fly ash and/or slag, sourced entirely within Australia as a waste by-product from power stations and steel manufacturers, while achieving comparable concrete strength to general purpose (GP) cement.
This technology is the culmination of several years of effort by our own technical team and NATA accredited laboratory, to enable high performing low carbon concrete and help contribute towards the cement and concrete industry’s ambition for net zero carbon concrete by 2050.
Currently, GreenCem™ technology is available for bulk distribution in commercial building projects. However, we are preparing to introduce 20kg bags into the retail market, making it accessible for smaller residential projects and private use. We look forward to a wider rollout of this product across building projects in the coming months.
