Reminds me of a single seat trike me and brother bought back in the 80s ,it was damaged in a crash and a pretty straight forward rebuild and all associated paperwork with CAA in England and remember all the excitement and anticipation of just the ground test with no wing and then bought a great hand giding wing and married up to trike perfectly and then some lessons and Flying round my local area in a rebuilt machine made me so proud . Unless you have done it with no Aviation experience but just a will to fly is fantastic..... wish I still few but has become cost prohibitive.
So it can be done then... You've answered a long standing question for me as I know they can provide enough thrust, well proven in the foot launched units ...but thought they would struggle in a nonolight..good work...
Thank you very much for this video....i build myselfe a little trike that got a 15hp Yamaha KT100 cc engine on it with a reduction drive.......now you gave me more encouragement to go an finish the small final touches....and go tested it...if got a bigger Windlass trike also...but would love it to fly the small little one.....also....it might be a little bit more fun.....but it can also be hard work.....im weighting at 48kg....i think this small one will be a pleasure.thanks for your video.love it
Can someone please explain this? What are the wings made of? I mean they look like they are made of the same cloth used in umbrella canopy material. You know what happens during a thunderstorm, the umbrealla collapses. So these guys taking this up to 10000 feet etc, how they hell don't they collapse like a umbrellas collapsing in high wind? I mean even the professionally manufactured ones look very flimsy. Please explain this to me, these things are fascinating, its like we found a loop hole to fly like birds (for some reason the commercial aircraft doesn't have the same effect, as a layman) Why aren't many people using this to go to work and come home?
Hi Brian, Thank you for the video. I would like to build a trike. Would 2" square aluminum tube 1/8" wall 6061 be a good choice on the main frame and mast? Thank you John
Hi John, That's what I use for my mast, but I also sleeve the inside of it with two round aluminum tubes nested together, each roughly 1/16th thick, for extra strength. Here's a recent video of me flying my trike: th-cam.com/video/ftGZ5gk6mUg/w-d-xo.html
Hi Brian, How high is the mast? Should I build my own attaching point or buy one? I wasn't sure how to make the nylon bushing. Thank you very much, John
Nice video , i am really fan of your videos , by the way can a hang glider pilot will be able to fly and control this type of microlight trike ? as the controls looks same :)
Yep, I hear you. I'm reminded that every aircraft has a mission. This one is designed solely as a soaring trike...just enough Hp to get you up in the thermals. That wing though, is a nice flier (clean and double-surfaced).
Radne Raket, very common 2T engine in kart racing. The rules are engine swept volume based and Radne are well known engines.Unusual to see them in aircraft application.
@@bradbrown2168 Nope. I had to do a deep search and after seeing many types of trikes and reading reviews I came to simple, light, and strong design that I've been flying and its been a total succes ;)
@@Rick_Cavallaro hey Rick, you’ll be fine. The control system is almost identical except in Trikes you’re in a sitting position. Crossover skills are nearly seamless. But it would be good to get 5 to 6 hours of dual instruction before your solo. Just because you’ll learn a few specifics to Trikes that are different from non-powered hang gliding. Anyway, as we get older, it sure is nice to be on wheels instead of foot launch, even though I still enjoy the foot lunch part. All the best my man, John.

I have a nano trike that was flying with a fresh breeze solo 210 18HP engine from PPG. I mounted my Moster 185 which is approx 27hp.
Great little trike and nice flight . Keep the videos coming . You do an awesome job !
Love watching your videos. Nice Job on the trike Brian. Love the Hat

Beautiful flying I do like it but I don’t know how to own
brilliant love it
this surprised me, my foot launch wasp unit struggled to give me a descent TO distance, I'm 75kg naked.

Sell trike plans?
love to have one like this❤🎉
Here in Uganda we don't know even what that is I wish you can send one I try it out
The life I love is that
ATTENTION: Coming out soon we will have plans and detailed instructions available for the Mosquito mini trike design.
I'd be very interested in getting a set of those plans. Have they come out yet?
I am interested in the one in rhis video can you pm me with info?

Not for sale anymore. Love my new trike!

Those seem like a lot of fun! Are those wings different than a hang glider?
Pretty much the same as a hang glider wing.
Interested, Would be interested in converting to electric. Minnesota- Long way to ship

Yes, very easy to adapt to trikes having flown hang gliders. Only major difference is you have power...but it is an easy learn. Thanks!

I want to get a plane like this.
How can I do that?
Is the control setup more intuitive/ easier than say, a traditional Cessna ? Using the bar?
I think so, but both are easy...compared to say a helicopter control system.

Nice trike, I had not heard of that engine. I would personally want to have a little more power and not need it than to need it and not have it 😜.

Sir, is it a 16hp engine do you use?
For this trike, yes.
Where are you located?
Fairbanks, Alaska
How much did it cost to build
Where can I find the basic plans of a minitrike? Measurments of structure, where to mount the motor, etc etc Thanks :)

I am from Pakistan, can you provide all parts and tools to assemble here in Pakistan. Thanks & Regards.

Have you ever seen somebody successfully self-train? Asking for a friend.
No I haven't. Probably possible but since we only get to die once, it's best to get training...usually you live longer that way.
