    What is the fabric used?

      @emrecivelekoglu37  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I haven't decided on this yet, but I will use one of the following fabrics;
      100% Polyester Fabric
      Dacron Fabric
      PVC Canvas
      Military Heavy Duty Tarpaulin
      The weight of the fabric I will use should not exceed 300 grams per square meter.

      @@emrecivelekoglu37Dacron is a trade name for a kind of polyester... And should be your first, probably only option for such a build. For a heavier trike it is probably 5 oz. dacron.

      @@Mrexperimentcreator I will share the whole construction process of the Sail Wing on my TH-cam channel, and I will also share the 3D Model.
      Actually, I shared a very old version of the 3D model before, but the airfoils in that 3D model are wrong, so it won't work.
      But it can still work for you.

    Do you actually know how weight shift (billow shift) aircraft turns? With that kind of batten structure and wing tip, plus lack of washout and dive recovery, this wing will not be able to make turns, will tip stall, and dive into the ground.

    • @emrecivelekoglu37
      @emrecivelekoglu37  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      When designing the Rigid Hang Glider in this video, I knew it would require additional ailerons for turning. But the Aileron design wasn't ready yet. I think I made a mistake uploading this video before the design is complete.
      As Aileron, I am planning a design like the picture I took below;
      ushga.aero/colver/wp-content/uploads/ColverSkysail.png
      In addition, in the current design, I used 8 degrees of Washout, a single surface EPPLER 377 airfoil.
      I think you are knowledgeable about these issues, I would be very happy if you let me know the design mistakes I made in that video when I will upload the video of the new current design.
      While ailerons provide rotation, weight shifting will also act as pitching, as in the video below(from 19 seconds);

      @@emrecivelekoglu37 that makes sense now, but is a quite outdated design for what it offers. Are you a pilot already? Just be very careful with what you are doing!

    • @emrecivelekoglu37

      @@ericoschmitt You may be right, but making a flexible Hang Glider is very difficult for me, so I have to make a rigid Hang Glider. It is difficult for me to sew, adjust and cut the fabric on the Flexible Hang Glider.
      I need this type of aileron system. Because it's easier for me to build a Rigid Hang Glider.
      Could you tell us the advantages and disadvantages of the aileron system on the Flexible Hang Glider and the aileron system I mentioned in my previous comment?

    • @ericoschmitt
      @ericoschmitt ปีที่แล้ว

      @@emrecivelekoglu37 rigid wings are indeed more predictable and should be easier to design (not necessarily easier to build). I can't say for sure how a tip rudder will compare with a spoileron such as seen on the ATOS rigid hang gliders, given the same wing design, but there must be a reason tip rudders haven't been used for the last 40 years on basically any aircraft that I can remember.
      As for active control surfaces on a flex wing, I don't think there's any example.
      But the bottom line here is: it seems you have never built any kind of aircraft at all, and possibly have never even flown a hang glider. And you are attempting to design then build one. Are you sure this sounds like a good idea to you?
      I strongly recommend that, before anything else, get lessons from anyone with experience. You are in Turkey right? There are pilots over there.
      Then, get some used wing, anything old will be safer then trying out your own design with zero experience.
      Then if you want to become a builder, copy that very same wing you have, make another. For this, you should learn how to sew sails, so should at least watch a bunch of videos and read books on boat sail making.
      Then, try make minor modifications on the design you have already copied..
      Then, only then, consider building something to fly with!
      Many have died in the past so that you don't have to.
      Sorry to be blunt, I myself am fascinated with design and construction, but I'm yet to learn from a maker, before risking my neck on my own creations.

    • @emrecivelekoglu37

      Thank you again for your response. Being straightforward is good. :)
      Yes, I haven't flown any Hang Glider, and I don't have any training, so I am aware that it might be reckless. That's why I built a scaled RC Hang Glider with a wingspan of 1.8 meters. The video is below; th-cam.com/video/7SlTh39fDn4/w-d-xo.html
      Since childhood, I've had this dream of building something like this, and now I'm 25 years old. Regarding the training issue, after building this thing, I'm planning to get some training before attempting to fly it. Also, I don't intend to jump from a high place while trying to fly it, of course. I plan to attach a brushless motor and test it at low altitudes (1-2 meters high).
      You suggested buying a used Hang Glider, but as you know, in Turkey, the exchange rates are very high (bad economy), and a used Hang Glider is excessively expensive for me. However, I have enough money to build a Hang Glider myself.
      I have a new model that I am developing, and I am trying to improve it compared to my previous designs. If there is anything illogical in my design, I would appreciate it if you could let me know.
      There is no wooden wing profile in the middle section of the Hang Glider because I will attach an aluminum tube batten there.
      I may have asked too many questions, I apologize for that.

      Waout: 8 Degrees

      Estimated Wing Area: 15.89 m²
      Total weight of non-motorized Trike: 45-50 Kilograms
