    Horror, Japan is stopped! There is no end of snow.
    Strong cold winds and dropping heavy snowfall hit along the coast of the Sea of Japan for the 7th day in a row. Heavy snow disrupted traffic and stranded many vehicles. At least 10 people were injured over the past weekend due to blizzard conditions. Heavy snow caused flight cancelations and disruption to train services in parts of central Japan. More than 10 000 households in the region have been left without electricity.
    Hikone in Shiga Prefecture saw 68 cm of snow while Asago in Hyogo Prefecture received 71 cm. During the same period, Minakami in Gunma Prefecture received 70 cm. And Aizuwakamatsu in Fukushima Prefecture saw 55 cm. The deepest snowfall was recorded in Aomori with 200 cm, while snow also accumulated in the cities of Kyoto, Nagoya, and Hiroshima.
    Heavy snowfall, as well as icy roads and high waves can last for several days.

    For those who don't know, Japan is one of the heaviest snowfall areas in the world.
    More than half of the top 10 cities in terms of annual snowfall are in Japan. So this has been happening for a long time, and it's nothing unusual.

      Heaviest snowfall is not in a big city which are usually at low elevation. High mountains get much heavier snow. So the mountain towns are the one's that get the heaviest snow. Remember, the snow storm starts out at high elevation and eventually reaches the lower elevations as it cools down, so it snows for a few months in the mountains while still rain or clear at the lower elevations.

    • @williamlembke7828
      @williamlembke7828 2 ปีที่แล้ว +82

      @@danc1197 Another aspect is temperature. A lot of snow is an issue, however when you get to below -25 you have bigger issues such as snow removal machinery not being able to start and even equipment like jumper cables snapping. Last year I worked as a garbage man in a blizzard with a temperature of -53 with a wind chill -64. The first pair of jumper cables I used that morning simply just snapped. The warning time for frostbite was 5 minutes.

    Japan is lauded for the consistency and sheer volume of snowfall it receives. The powder conditions are often ideal for winter sports, as is the varied terrain offered by hundreds of resorts. In fact, Japan is considered one of the best locations in the world for skiing and snowboarding,
    What makes for these ideal conditions? Japan is fortuitously situated so that it receives cold air masses from Siberia, which pick up moisture as they cross the Sea of Japan. As this moist air climbs Japan’s mountains, heavy snowfall occurs - with some areas receiving an average of three to six meters (10 to 20 feet).

    I AM SOOO ENVY, AO JEALOUS.
    I know exactly why I want to live there since my youth lots of years ago. And yet I can't, ocean food, money and work-life balance keeps me away. But when I see all this snowy mess I want to live there even more. I wait here all day every day for some snow. It snowed some flakes around new year but that's all. It wasn't even laying on the ground. Since about....10 years or more I haven't seen any snow. It's like I am an addict and my drug was taken out of this world because people won't stop killing the air with some nice and smooth CO2. Too bad.
    But anyway. I can't believe how much snow they've got so far this year...no I mean this season. It's hell and heaven in one place now. And looks just like a total heabbe why it must be horror to move the snow aside so driving could work etc.
    Gosh I would do anything for living there...but without ocean food. 🤣 I get sick instantly the second I smell any food from waters or oceans.
    Anyway Japan, stay strong. You've got to. I wish you all the best!

    We just got about 7inches and it feels like this to me… hope everyone the best! I’m sure they know how to get through this being such a heavy snowfall country. Japan has the tech and the labor to get this cleaned up. 🙏🏽🙏🏽🙏🏽
