Thanks for the nice comment! I flew the Saab a little over 1,000hrs and loved every bit of it. Glad to hear you enjoy my videos. I will be posting a TBM700 video someday soon. :)
Steve I Flew The Saab also as I told you before...Don't listen to others about why you are Flying The TBM instead of in The Airlines...After my experience with The Airlines you are having a lot MORE fun flying The Caravan and TBM..BELIEVE ME! ..I wish I would have found a job like yours instead of the Airlines....Safe Flying my friend! :)
Aaaaaaahhhh yes, the SAAB 340; like driving a Mack truck at Ferrari speeds. Interesting to see how varied the scan sequences, callouts and procedures are between different operators for the same aircraft. Fun aircraft to fly!
i remember good ol gtmo not i hate that place and this video reminds me of it too much haha that landing is tight its a short runway great job i jsut got back from there a few months ago
Greetings from South Africa on New Years Eve, Steve. Keep up the good work in 2016 ... I recently discovered your videos and I enjoy everything that you produce. I am an armchair pilot with many hours on MS Flight Simulator ... too old now (75) to take up real flying but totally enjoy flying along with you.
+Stan Morrison Do you still fly in MS Flight Simulator? I lost interest when they revamped it, then cancelled the entire thing. I've thought about switching to X Plane, as that seems to be a solid simulator with a large community.
Hello Steve,I am a brand new fan who just found you today, and so far haven't left !! I am deathly afraid of flying but just love to see airplanes being flown by others. It is mesmerizing. I particularly enjoyed the flight with the lady pilot and all the conversation. Flying looks enjoyable as long as you are at the controls and I am in my easy chair as your guest, haha
Your parents are incredibly humbled by your accomplishment! I wish my kid would be a pilot. He's really smart and speaks English even though he his Italian. His dream instead is Carrabinieri.
Came across your channel, and good to see a fellow Coastie on here! I have a little time in the Grand when I flew for Superior Aviation, then left for the 757/767 after being recalled from Furlough. Keep up the good work!
Fantastic video mate and most excellent approach and landing. You pros make this look easy! Really enjoyed this. Ok back to FSX and time to play wannabe pilot for me lol.
Found this fumbling around, yes, that is Gtmo. Dunno why he didn't put that in the title but, I kinda see why he wouldn't. I was Active Duty and worked at the "detention facility". Good times 2011
Reminds me of sitting shotgun in a US Navy P-3 Orion when I was active duty... the sights and sounds of a Turbo Prop in reverse, and beta. But you folks had very good crew coordination. P-3 folks had the Center Seat (Flight Engineer) to keep the pilots honest. Nice job back then...
You are a really Great excellent Pilot, Please post as many videos like this, even if the captain is flying the plane, I love too watch pilots fly the saab 340 as it is my favorite plane and I one day hope to pilot it.
@brighdt01 Just like in any other plane, taxiing procedures do not insure that you shut-down any of the engines. If you mean to ask if they apply engine thrust separately of each other, then yes. If the plane has 2 or more engines, on both sides of the fuselage, then pilots can apply more thrust to one side of the plane then the other, to compensate the cross wind, or to minimise turn radius while taxiing.
This is a Awesome Video man! I watch all your Saab 340 videos over and over again, Its the plane I want to fly Man Just Love the Saab! :) Awesome Video man It inspires me! :)
Hey Steevo - don't mind the music critics! One can always mute. As for me adds a bit of intensity - I like it. Interesting footage and CRM in action - keep up the good work!
that is called the condition lever, is a mixture lever of a sort, it governs the amount of fuel which enters the engine, so naturally at higher power settings, or power settings involving circumstances where fuel starvation would be less than ideal (landing) the condition lever is put in full rich. On the other hand, on decent (through changing atmospheric densities) or on taxi (where full rich will just be wasteful usage of fuel) it is left in the "low Idle" position. hope that helps! :)
@scotplane Im not sure about the nav, but i definetly know that no turbo-prop has a auto-throttle. I think it could be becouse of the fact that the engine blades can be feathered, wich is something that no auto-pilot can do that i know of.
is this an ATR 72 ?? hey how does the tower treat you guys from the US?im cuban thats why im asking i wnat to be an atc in the marine core so i love this kind of videos great one by the way congrat guys
Excellent video Steveo! Congatullations!!! What kind of airolane is this and what is the name of the airline? Are you a pilot or something? you know something, I love airplines. I was able to finish as a private pilot, but I couldnt continue because I got a sickness in my right eye, now I fly paper airplanes, and they are here in you tube, I invite you to see them, just write AVIONES DE PAPEL EN ACAPULCO or Gerardo Perez Arteaga I want to know your opinion and comments about them.WARMregards!!
The US Government ban isn't against visiting Cuba, it's for spending money in Cuba and/or receiving gifts, although staying longer than 24 hours is considered prima facie evidence of violating this. Licensed travel to Cuba is available. However, these are moot points in this case being that the video is of a landing at Guantanamo Bay which is of course a US Navy Base.
It seemed like they were going to have you taxi all the way back to Florida! What is this, the JFK of Cuba? Thanks for sharing the trip! Never saw you in a crew before.
Steve, isn't it odd that the Captain was operating the engine controls when you were the pilot flying? Isn't it supposed to be only the PF who touches anything associated with the engines in-flight?
Hey great video! Did you shoot this on the GoPro HD Hero? If so, did you use the 720 60 FPS mode, I noticed your Flight displays are visible this time. Also, what mount do you use? Thanks
I never looked this far back on your channel before. I didn't realize you had videos of you flying something crewed. I'm guessing you like flying single pilot in the TBM more?
Capt. Stevo, who is the gentleman in the left seat in this video? I can't be sure from the angles but he really looks like a fella that I worked with some years ago, trying to get him ready for his commercial. Now my curiosity is about to get the best of me. I'm a newbie 2 your channel.
This was a great video. Seems like many who post videos seem to think that music needs to be added to make it complete. I'd much rather hear the raw audio, especially when turbines are involved :)
Thanks for the nice comment! I flew the Saab a little over 1,000hrs and loved every bit of it. Glad to hear you enjoy my videos. I will be posting a TBM700 video someday soon. :)
Great video! i like the fact you can hear the flight attendant in the background speaking to the passengers - it's a nice addition.
Thank you very much for not replacing the original sounds. For a REAL aviation enthusiast THIS is music.
I love the sound of a turboprop in beta.
It is a Saab 340, and the airline was Florida Coastal Airlines which was out of Ft Lauderdale FL
oh saab.. Such a great airplane!
lol this airlines is completely out of business after being bought by 2 other companies
Perhaps one of my favorite TH-camrs was in my country and I didn't know. Loved this video. Thanks and greetings from Cuba.
I have thoroughly enjoyed all your videos, looking forward to more. Thanks
I lived there from 2004-2007. Always loved the base to final turn!
Glad to see you.back, Steveo. Pretty flight. Thanks.
Thanks for the comment. Good luck in your training...I know you will enjoy flying this aircraft. :)
Hey, I'm one day hoping to become a pilot, these videos are making me really wanna be a pilot now, please keep making more like this one!!
Greetings from South Africa on New Years Eve, Steve. Keep up the good work in 2016 ... I recently discovered your videos and I enjoy everything that you produce. Stan Morrison You welcome big guy.....
+Stan Morrison Do you still fly in MS Flight Simulator? I lost interest when they revamped it, then cancelled the entire thing. I've thought about switching to X Plane, as that seems to be a solid simulator with a large community.
Thanks sir! The visual approach into that airport is actually quite fun. :)
I remember coming in on the same approach in a 727 and looking at the wingtip near the sea!It is a very tight approach from the western end!!
I'M 42 YEARS OLD. I ALWAYS WANTED BE A PILOT.FOR SOME REASON I DIDN'T REACH MY DREAMS BUT I'M GLAD THAT OTHERS DID!! THANKS FOR THIS VIDEO BUDDY!!
Great videos Steve... Really enjoying your VLOG!

Your parents are incredibly humbled by your accomplishment!
I wish my kid would be a pilot. He's really smart and speaks English even though he his Italian. His dream instead is Carrabinieri.

Keep up the good work!
I appreciate the natural sounds. Great video!
Fantastic video mate and most excellent approach and landing. You pros make this look easy! Really enjoyed this. Ok back to FSX and time to play wannabe pilot for me lol.
Thanks sir for watching and the comment! :)
awesome! one of the best aviation videos I've seenb on youtube. i can't wait to be in that right seat!
Judging from that steep right hand turn from base to final I'd say you were landing at Guantanamo Bay?
Found this fumbling around, yes, that is Gtmo. Dunno why he didn't put that in the title but, I kinda see why he wouldn't. I was Active Duty and worked at the "detention facility". Good times 2011
Your videos were pretty much the deciding factor in whether I should get one or not.
I'm so glad I did. (HD Helmet Hero)
Saab. Love the Plane..the car..the country..and this video! =)
muy bueno el copiloto..ya es hora que dirija la aeronave.congratulations.muy bien ubicada la camara.gracias.

Used to hear the Orion just about every night from my porch doing maritime training sorties. Can't hear the new Poseidon at all. :(
You are a really Great excellent Pilot, Please post as many videos like this, even if the captain is flying the plane, I love too watch pilots fly the saab 340 as it is my favorite plane and I one day hope to pilot it.

gran vídeo ,gracias por compartir ,podéis subir mas así ,un saludo desde españa
Lets hope everyone will beable to fly into Cuba soon. Such nice people...
You CAN fly into Cuba today if you want to.
To much red tape.
Nice job SteveO. Can’t believe I never seen this footage. You’ve come a long way. Keep up the good work.
Yeah me too! good thing I saw the link at the end of the latest video.
This is a Awesome Video man! I watch all your Saab 340 videos over and over again, Its the plane I want to fly Man Just Love the Saab! :) Awesome Video man It inspires me! :)

What a great pilot you are!
Love the sounds of those engines
Nice right turn just before touching down
1:40 for what is that yellow light?
I believe it's the AUTOCOURSEN ARMED indicator. It looks like the pilot in the left seat is turning it on @ 1:33 on the overhead panel.
as soon as I have the time that is my dream acft, the SAAB 340! love your vids man, hope to be in your shoes in a few years.
Thanks for keeping the original sound !
Thats my instructor Oscar Munoz!!!!! Nice video!!!
Great footage hope to see even more.
It's IBC Airways. A cargo plane landing in José Martí. Havana, CUBA
Epic! I cant wait till i start flying commercially. Your videos are amazing!
so did u do it?
Haha - the captain has also upgraded to a Bose headset... ;-)
Nice video, nice flying!
Excellent video!!!
Is it difficult manipulating the aircraft's propulsion on turboprops, since there are two sets of levers to deal with?
@scotplane Im not sure about the nav, but i definetly know that no turbo-prop has a auto-throttle. I think it could be becouse of the fact that the engine blades can be feathered, wich is something that no auto-pilot can do that i know of.
when you put the saab in reverse do you have to lift it out of idle into reverse like a king air or is it just continuous
As they taxi after landing, what is the Captain adjusting next to the throttle?
Question: Why is the Captain constantly maneuvering the throttle controls during taxi to the ramp?
Great vid. What is the acft and the airline? Regards..
Yeah a new video from you! :-D
Still flying the Saab?
Thumbs Up anywhy!
@TheAviationCenter Thanks!
Awesome thank you for the music.what music you ask?, well the music this aircraft is making of course :)
Very nice. Can't wait to be in your shoes.
Very pretty approach! thumbs up
+Jander Nascimento Crazy tight turn JUST before the landing!
excuse my ignorance but did you taxi via fmc as no use of levers? very nice video thankyou
Love it, the turn onto final looked a little scary though.
is this an ATR 72 ?? hey how does the tower treat you guys from the US?im cuban thats why im asking i wnat to be an atc in the marine core so i love this kind of videos great one by the way congrat guys
Love Saabs. Great landing! You're living my dream and you're doing it right. Don't fuck it up ;) Cheers.
nice!!! what type of plane is this
Love your video. Keep up the great work!
if this flight was a 'freedom airlift' there would be cubans stapped
down on the wings! Great video post by the way, nice one.
i like this one much better, you can hear the sounds and see the displays!
Cockpit is identical to a "Saab 340" or the longer version "Saab 2000"
Beautiful Swedish developed aircraft!
great video thank you!!
and THANK YOU for not using music :) Too many nice flying vids in yt spoilt by music :)
Beautiful landing.
SteveO, life seems so much more fun now flying the Kodiak, TBM and Caravan no?
Great approach and landing. What route did you fly? Type? When do you plan to be in the left seat?
The US Government ban isn't against visiting Cuba, it's for spending money in Cuba and/or receiving gifts, although staying longer than 24 hours is considered prima facie evidence of violating this. Licensed travel to Cuba is available. However, these are moot points in this case being that the video is of a landing at Guantanamo Bay which is of course a US Navy Base.
very smooth landing great job
I LIKE IT I CAN SEE WHOLE THINGS DOING HOW WOW
It seemed like they were going to have you taxi all the way back to Florida! What is this, the JFK of Cuba? Thanks for sharing the trip! Never saw you in a crew before.
Steve, isn't it odd that the Captain was operating the engine controls when you were the pilot flying? Isn't it supposed to be only the PF who touches anything associated with the engines in-flight?
+Matthew B Sometimes, they can share duties especially if the engines are really touchy. :)
Hey great video!
Did you shoot this on the GoPro HD Hero? If so, did you use the 720 60 FPS mode, I noticed your Flight displays are visible this time. Also, what mount do you use?
Thanks
Anyone watching this in 2018
Just discovered Steveo Aug 2018. Now going through "the back catalogue"
Something tells me Steveo doesn’t fly these trips anymore haha
Yeah interesting watching early stuff.
I thought Steveo was born in a TBM850
12/31/2018 in the am I have no life.
Thank you!! Fantastic video.
Nice approach and landing, grats !
Very very nice the turn on final approach! :-D
What are they flying into Cuba?...what aircraft?
I never looked this far back on your channel before. I didn't realize you had videos of you flying something crewed. I'm guessing you like flying single pilot in the TBM more?
What airplane type was this? Where was the landing?
How often do you get sick when flying?
I am sitting right seat in this video. If this type of thing is your dream...go for it! You only live once. :)
Capt. Stevo, who is the gentleman in the left seat in this video? I can't be sure from the angles but he really looks like a fella that I worked with some years ago, trying to get him ready for his commercial. Now my curiosity is about to get the best of me. I'm a newbie 2 your channel.
what airline is this?? all american crew? or canadien crew?
hey nice video congrats from venezuelan I'm a pilot too, what kind of airplane are you flying?
What type of equipment was this Steve, a dash 8..?
Great Video! What kind of airplane is it?
GREAT VIDEO, AND THANKS FOR NO MUSIC!!
awesome vid, don't pay attention to RikPhin over here. what Plane is that?
This was a great video. Seems like many who post videos seem to think that music needs to be added to make it complete. I'd much rather hear the raw
audio, especially when turbines are involved :)
