no doubt it is Gundappa for his sheer elegance and the artistry. he was harmful to the bowler but harmless to the ball. He wud just change the direction of the ball gently gliding it.
Many have spoken abt his square cut or drive.but they are blind. His late cut and leg glance are the most difficult strokes and no one has played it for the last 40 years.
Vishy shud be known for fine leg glances and late cuts more

many think Vishwanath's best innings was his 97 not out in Chennai in 1975
No, it is thoroughly wrong. It was very ordinary when u compare it with his 124 against windies in Chennai in 1979
    the differences
    1. Gavaskar didnt play in the 1975 match
    2. Gavaskar also played the 1979 match
    3. 1975 pitch was only fast, but the 1979 Chepauk pitch was just horribly under prepared. Sylvester Clarke and Norbert Philip were faster than Andy Roberts and both cud kick the ball from good length. Gavaskar failed in both the innings, exposing his weakness against sheer pace on a wicked wicket. he was happy to be out soon in both the innings to escape body blow
But Vishy ? - stood like a rock, tamed both the quickies and scored a bold manly innings of 124, without helmet, arm guard or chest guard
I bet - Virat Kohli orTendulkar could not have scored even5 runs or survive a full over of those devils on that deadly pitch even with helmets
    That is Vishy for you

A small fourth innings target india faltered and won very narrowly thanks to Vishy's innings and Kapil's short but sweet innings. I might enjoy aggressive brutish stroke play in today's times but deep down i also enjoy the elegance of old school Batting style where flick of wrists combined with superb timing sent the ball speeding towards the boundaries ❤😅. And no these guys didn't have leather ball murdering willows with thick edges and bulging sweet spots . Just pure technique was enough to do the job 😎😌.
I have seen old folks from dad's generation talk about who was better sunny or vishy , now i can clearly say that Vishy was better even if he didn't have appetite for runs like Sunny 😅. I would love to see some more videos on old school legends who made Batting look elegant and classy like Azaruddin , vvs laxman,Dravid, Yuvi ( the last batsman to have old school elegance which was beautifully mixed with brute force of modern batsman) and many more. Please make it happen 🙌.

and you can ask Vishy himself. He always says I am his most vocal fanatic for the past 54 years.

The present day cricket‘s kind of bats, pitchs and overall infrastructure and all those mediocre newly inducted teams with below average bowler's.
