Thanks for driving through. Grew up in Ashland even went to college and including born in Amish country now live in NC. You don’t appreciate how beautiful the area you grow up in is until you leave. Love that you do this. Love Ohio just not the weather. 😂😅 Thanks again. Enjoyed it. 😊
I lived in Ashland (1966-1970 & 1995-2006). When you turned onto Center Street and went a few blocks but missed the museum, then turned around and stopped at the traffic light, the gray house on the right hand side, at the light, was my most recent home. Built in the 1800s and has quite a history.
I love the museum. A very good one.I’m glad you got lost because I love seeing the town and the beautiful houses and you drove by some lovely ones. I also like seeing your camping areas. I love your videos. I am going back and watching older ones
Ohio, my home state. Love seeing anything Ohio. The closest you got to my home town was Wooster. Remember New Philadelphia from when we used to travel old Route 8. There was a place on the river that had the best pies. We always stopped there for pie. Yoder’s in Sarasota has the best pies too, especially around the holidays. Someday, maybe you will get closer to my hometown. Had the best childhood growing up in Ohio. Thank you for visiting Ohio. 😊
Great video, thanks! That neat old house you visited was cool, and that sofa/couch is called a "fainting couch" - pretty cool! Ohio is a beautiful state. Greetings from central Florida.
Ashland is 20 miles from me! Wish I knew you were going to be in the area. There’s fantastic history here in Medina ( Muh-dine-uh). Next time you’re near, give a shout! Thanks for the ride along Russ!
The piece of bedroom furniture that looked like a cross between a traditional sofa and a chair is call a chaise lounge. My parents had on in their bedroom when I was growing up, but their's was mid-20th Century modern. What a cool old house. Old midwestern towns like this sort of remind me of Bedford Falls in, "It's a Wonderful LIfe."
I keep seeing videos about the Amish country then instantly think about the food there that I've seen videos of. All while I'm on the other side of the country eating a bowl of cereal. Guess I should be grateful. They told us we could fight inflation by eating cereal. 😕. Stay safe Russ. Sorry for drifting off topic. Thanks for the ride-along. Cheers. 👍
Was just in that area of Ohio recently ! Some cool attractions include the "Shawshank" prison (former Ohio State Reformatory) in Mansfield, where they filmed the "Shawshank Redemption." Scenes from the movie were also shot in Malabar State Park near Lucas, which is also worth a visit. I also stopped at a cool Amish store, Lehman's, in Kidron, Ohio, which is notice is on your map Russ. Safe travels !!!
OMG what fun memories! I graduated (1986) from then called Ashland College now it's Ashland University! Thank you for allowing me to reminisce about ole times.
Russ I know i say goodbye all the tine, but thise days you feel tired out from driving, i want you to remember, we are greatful for your trips, oh the Ashland museum had me in tears today from the old phone, andcthe party lines we had, and some of the beautiful old furniture. And you and i both said atcthe same tone about teachers teaching real lessons, when the teacher part of the museum came up. There is something about after the war, and the hope our aunts, uncles, grabdparents and families had back then, that filled us so full of hope for our countries Russ. It was like we could accomplish everything. I see today Aumish, small town living, lands, the building of our community mindset might never be again. You will never know how your histiry run every summer tajes me back to my hopes and dreams for our countries. May we all realize without resentment sone kind of future after covid 19. Our hearts to you and your friends in Quartsite Russ. Thank you so so much. Never get Political Russ. You are right. Never get religious on the outside. Just being is enough. Colin and I send you our hearts from Osoyoos B.C. Canada Russ. The people of the land. ❤❤

As long as you're going through Illinois, you should check out Dixon, IL and President Reagan's childhood home (museum). I grew up 12 miles from Dixon.
I thought I seen "L" symbol on the side of the road checked the map and you were close to Lincoln Highway. You do wear a helmet on your bike rides right....... Thanks for the video.
Great video, really enjoy watching your travels. I was wondering what drone do you use to get footage? I’m looking into getting my dad a drone for Christmas🤷🏻♀️

Yes they teach reading, writing, math and other subjects through the eighth grade. Most of the Amish are very successful with an eighth grade education. They are great providers for their families and many own large tracts of land that is very valuable and there are many that have teams of horses that cost as much as large tractors. I hope this is helpful ‼️
I often travel through the area. Went to a Fish Fry there a few years back. Inmet the owner's wonderful people I'. M, not far from there in M ASS I LLO.N I.
