  • One of the best if not the best photo viewers in the world in my opinion, and you can have it as your very own for the extravagant price of.... FREE :)
While you may have heard of the program before, you may not have known just how powerful it really is behind the scenes with the ability to re sample images, watermark, batch process, and a lot more.
I only touch on some of the more common features you may use in this tutorial and also teach some core concepts when it comes to working with photo/video (Aspect Ratio!)
I hope that everybody enjoys the tutorial and finds it useful.

Very informative tutorial. The precise steps to using this program were concise, but as a beginner to this program, I will most likely need to review this again. Won't mind that as your tutorial (although little fast) is excellent. I look forward to your other vids. Thank you

When I crop my pictures, I end up with a black area around my selection. When you cropped this picture, the picture expanded to fill the whole area. What setting do I need to adjust to make the picture take up the whole area? Thank you

Is there a way to batch crop photos and have it crop out a specific location on every picture. For example. I take pictures of a toy on a huge white background. And it always centered. So I want to bulk crop them. I know how to RESIZE in bulk using IrfanView but I want to know if I can just do a bulk crop instead Right now I cut them down using tool once and then manually crop each one and then go back and adjust all of them in bulk one last time so they are all 800x600 (for example)

Thanks for this. Is there a way of cropping an image so that it has a different aspect ratio? For example I'm interesting in executing a bulk conversion which provides me with a 16:9 aspect ratio.

Have you found a way to do that? I am trying to do that too.

@@creativework-qt6vn I've used the following: (Hope this helps...)
      File-> Batch Conversion/Rename
On the Batch Conversion dialog I
      Work as: Batch conversion
      Batch conversion settings:
I ccick on "Options" button to set a few values such as:
Save as progressive JPG, keep original IPTC data, Set file size to 90KB
I click on the "Advanced" button to set a few values such as:
      - Set New DPI Value: 72 (for smaller JPGs for my website)
      - Check the RESIZE box and specify the desire aspect ratio
      - Overwrite exsiting files (you may not want this but I use this setting)
On the right hand side you can add/remove files to convert.
Once your settings are sorted, then click the Start Batch button

Great review!!! I have a huge problem maybe you know what's up with it. The latest program turned all my cropped and renamed images into black and white!! How do I get them back to their original color?? I didn't have the grayscale checked so it can't be that. I have tried everything!!! So I ended up un- installing the program ( which was the latest) and put it back to the 4.0 version for Vista and gave up. I have almost 100 photos that are now black and white. Can you kindly help me to get them back to the original color?? Thanks Julie

+J G It could be a few options, I imagine your save format must have a setting you need to change.

Is irfanview a safe/legit program without any viruses or malware? Does anyone know for sure pleasee? As I haven't heard much about this program it doesn't seem very popular, but looks nice from these videos so i'd like to give it a shot but first I need to know if it really is safe.
