      Hi Liam,
      On the odd occasion, sometimes we have the odd naughty creel that likes to get a bit tangled, but it's all done in the way the creels come aboard and how they are stowed, if its all done correctly, we shouldn't have too much of a problem. 😁👌

    Hi Barry, I hope other viewers realise the seriousness of our situation regarding the MCA. As a fellow fisherman I just want to let everyone know that you are actually being very polite and careful with your words. The situation this government has created for the Inshore fishing fleet over the last few years is almost criminal. They sit in offices telling us how to be safe when most of them have never been to sea. Even worse are the kids (MCA officers) who stand on deck checking their phones to see what question to ask next, then telling you its unsafe for your boat to fish as you don't have a particular piece of paper on board! Two years ago we had a 10m potting boat, a 10m trawler and a 6m netting boat. The little boat was sold last year and the 10m potter is coming out for an overhaul before being sold this month. This is mainly because my sons and I are sick to death of being hassled by the MCA when all we want to do is carry on running our business. Personally I think the government made a deal behind closed doors agreeing to shut down the UK fishing fleet post brexit. It wouldn't be the only lie they've told!
    Well, as you sometimes say, "Rant over"!!
    Good luck with everything and I hope that in 12 months time we are both still fishing. We shall see....

      @pinkfoothunter1 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      The legal limit seems so small compared to the potential size they can grow to be, the same with crabs, wowuld it not be better to have a min and max size which over time would allow larger specimens to be taken whilst keeping an ever increasing number of large breeders

      Hi Scott.
      Thank you for your comment and question.
      We do try our best to shoot the creels away from one another and sometimes accidents happen and you shoot or get shot across by another vessel.
      What you normally do.
      ( depending on whose rope is the tightest)
      Is tie off one part to a hauler or shooting pole, then keeping hold of 1 end cut that rope, then pass it underneath or over the top, depending on who's over who.
      Drop there line away, then either tie or splice the rope back together, then be on your merry way as before. 😁👌
      I hope that makes sense.

      @onemanandhisboat  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hi John.
      It will obviously vary as the year goes on.
      But at this time of year, there are usually between 4 & 9 lobsters in a creel, with 1 or 2 keepers but that's just an average number, it all depends on where your gear is, what size are the tides, if there's swell in the water, if the bait is good, yes all different factors go into fishing.😁👌
      Thank you so much for your kind comment. I'm sorry we make you home sick,but at least you can see Sunny Dunbar via our vlogs weekly 😁👌

Anyway keep up the good work Davie .

    • @onemanandhisboat
      @onemanandhisboat  ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Hi David.
      I'm afraid the MCA was lying to you, bud.
      We had 2 fail within 15 mins of the Eyemouth ML5 meet, and they were there until 5 pm.😳😳😳
      I have it on good authority that the MCA is on a mission to end the inshore fleet.
      And the stability, then the scuppers, and now ML5'S and whatever else will they cook up next.🙄
      They are an uncontrolled authority and do as they please attitude.
      And that's just the tip of the iceberg. 🙈🤣🤣🤣🤣
      This is my business. Why should I have to jump through hoops just to please some office worker that has zero, respect, or experience for what I do.
      I think most fishermen feel this way, and it's getting to the point that they are tired of trying to keep these buggers happy because they never are!
      So yeah, I have a problem not just with medicals but the MCA as a whole.
      I hope that explains things a wee bit.🤣🤣🤣🤣
      Please read some of the comments on here left by other Fishermen, it's a real eye opener.😁👌

    It's so sad that your mentioning giving up on what you do, it's difficult to comprehend the struggle not knowing the incomings and the outgoings. What are 27 lobsters worth to a fisherman, we were in Weymouth last week and lobster ranged from £20 to £40. Maybe it's worth a sit down and fully explain the problems to the viewers, no doubt it can't be done in one vlog.

    • @onemanandhisboat

      Hi Mike
      Thank you so much for your kind message.
      We really appreciate your support.
      The price I would get for the 27 lobsters would be in the range of £87 🙈 you take & £22 for bait, then the same again for diesel you can see the numbers just scrape by to earn a little something by the end of the week.
      And that will be every fisherman/ woman up and down our coast.
      Unfortunately I can't make a vlog like that, as I'm being a target as is for these folks with the power, and with my business just hanging on, we can't take that risk.

    Hi Barry,
    Really enjoying your videos 👍I like the idea of using wooden creels, far better fishers. Be interesting if you set a line of single end creels to see if there would be an improvement in catches. its what most people use where I fish. I tried using fleets and found that most of the gear was not landing in the right spots. by using singles I don't need to work as much gear. gear is so expensive so every creel has to count 🦞🦞🦞

    • @onemanandhisboat
      @onemanandhisboat  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hi Calum.
      Thank you so much for your comment and advice.
      Unfortunately, single pots wouldn't work here as there are too many light fingered folks about.
      Plus, there too many ends with the big players already, that single ends would be easily lost in the vastness of ends already at sea.🤣🤣🤣🙈🙈🙈🤣🤣🤣

      Hi Crisp buddy.
      Wonderful to hear from you.😁👌
      Wow! That's proper fishing, sounds well managed, and the fishermen getting a great profit, too.
      Here, it works a lot differently, kinda everyman for himself, and it's only getting worse, too.😔
      We only have limited grounds to fish from, bud, and the boats too small to go great distances. So I'm kinda stuck to the grounds I work.
      I'm looking forward to November onwards, though, as most of the extra gear is taken back to shore ( from other boats), and you can actually work the ground the way it should be.😁👌
      Have a great weekend.
      All the best.😊
