Sometimes I think I've watched all of Matthew's interviews, but this is definitely my favorite! He's so relaxed, confident here, and as usual incredibly sincere and witty. Probably the best word to describe him is charming. An amazing person who is able to convey warmth and positive energy through the screen. I can't believe he's not with us anymore.
I met this dude a bunch of times in the early 90's before Friends. My friend worked at a sports bar called Double Play on La Cienega Blvd. He's already been on shows, but nobody knew who he was... he just looked familiar and you didn't know why. So he would come in there to play Foosball and I played with him once or twice. Super nice guy and great at Foosball. So, a couple years later, Joey and Chandler get a Foosball table and it all starts clicking in my head... "Holy Shit! I played Foosball with Chandler Bing!"
@@mihirpant8474 I swear to God. I'm sure Matt would remember the place. It was called Double Play on La Cienega Blvd in West Hollywood. Right near Barney's Beanery.
I listened to this a week ago. A few hours later came the terrible news that Matthew Perry was gone. My heart goes out to his friends and family and everyone who loved him. May his memory be a blessing. 😞❤️
Theres always these people who you enver knew but when they go you just somehow cannnot get over it and it feels really personal,I think people like Matthew just have this humanity and approachableness and are so personable and honest and down to earth that you just feel like they are your best friend.Just listening to them makes you feel better about life and he was one of those people..I just wish he was still around, its just the saddest news of his passing
Of course I liked Matthew Perry...I've been watching "Friends" for 25+ years and have always adored the movie "Fools Rush In". But I'm sorry that it's only after he died that I'm understanding what a beautiful, smart, kind person he was in real life. It's a terribly sad loss.
I'm sorry too. Thanks for sharing. Can't bring Matthew Perry back; but, in his memory (and in so many ways) one can still impact lives, change the world.
I had enjoyed his work and always thought him to have great comedic timing. Having just watched this, I really appreciated just how quick witted and funny he was. Seems to have been a good soul.
I only wished he knew how much people cared and loved him for his beautiful soul! I always felt connected to him and of course never met him in person or on a personal basis but I feel like I truly understand him as another human being. What a fine human being, through thick or thin!♥️💯🙏♥️
I love Matthew and miss him so much 💔 He was awesome in the Ron Clark Story. Everything he did was phenomenal. He seems so together in this show. So well spoken. He was a beautiful man inside and out.. ❤
Matthew Perry was so very intelligent and was so skilled at acting and writing and making shows successful. It's a huge loss and he will be missed. He was so funny including adlibing.
Only matthew perry could play to the camera after a technical issue he was just so quick. He didn't miss an opportunity jon hamm isn't intelligent enough to work to the camera. The Larry King sequence was 😂. Everything this man did was just brilliant. Kevin pollak is another intelligent funny brilliant actor.
Now there is a whole book that he published ( including many of these stories) but in a real Matthew Perry fashion, he is trying to help other people, so its published here on Y.T. It's a nice 9 hours narration of his book, narrated by him. Perfect for doing something around a house, or just resting and listening to his life story. And he does seem wiser at least in a sense that now he is more open, because he connects the dots of what led him to his addiction issues. He also tells a lot of stories I never heard in any interview. I still have 2 or more hours to finish the whole book. Just a note, in case you missed this and you already want to listen to him longer. :) Happy holidays :)
Thanks man! He is superb! I didnt know he just uploaded it on YT for free. Seems like he is really helping people out. One question, is it funny and humourous or does he talk about him being funny and how did he get to be like that and all?🧐
I don't know how, but I just discovered KPCS, and I am hooked. When I can, I listen to at least three of them as I work. Each and every one is a special treat with Kevin and his wonderful guests. KP is an absolute master at his craft and wonderful in this format. I wish there were more.
For someone who considered rapping the hardest thing he ever had to do, Matthew, I would say, nailed that scene the way it was supposed to be nailed. Fun, with the right energy, and yes, even educational. Haha! And also, for someone who says he finds it difficult to cry on cue, his breakdown in his episode of BH90210 was heartbreaking to me. I mean, I'm not sure if he had been building that up as the scene progresses, as he said he sometimes did, but whether that's the case or not, the sobs and the hurt felt so real when I watched it. I'm surprised they didn't discuss that episode here, but no matter. Fun interview, and awesome, funny, and lovely Matthew Perry, as always! As expected, I so loved his stories and way of brilliantly telling them. An hour well spent, indeed!
This interview proves what I've always thought; Matthew is very funny and witty and since "Friends" he has not had the support of good writers! He should write or co-write a screenplay. I would love to work with him sometime, I used to get kicked out of class for getting laughs; I would play his father! Let's do lunch!
@Jack Martin Even in Friends there were numerous times that Matthew Perry had to help out to fix a joke. _"Two Bottles of Vodka walking around in human form"_ is a famous joke he came up with and can be seen in a Friends documentary going behind-the-scenes. Also, Matthew was the only one on the show to write jokes for his own character. Great guy and great actor.
Matthew comes across as a Comedic Meistro....that has an orchestral sense of balance and can take lead and echo his brilliance while working with anyone and Fielding reply of emotions and timing while simultaneously being incredibly entertaining And witty!
Awww, my mom was a flight attendant for Air Canada 🇨🇦, and I wish she was alive to tell me if Matthew’s story sounds familiar, or if she knew the pilot 👨✈️ of whom he speaks!!! Inquiring airline minds want to know where Matt was flying to 💜 Thanks for the ode to my mom. Love ya Matty
I love the description of “Beat the joke”, freedom to flow creatively is so powerful. It’s where artists find that feeling of flowing and creating a masterpiece. There’s no feeling like that feeling
Good guy this dude,, Matthew Perry ,, so sad to learn he was struggling w/ addiction to almost everything back then,,, that wasn’t living , not really …
God... Just came across this... Today is May 5th, we're all in quarantine... And watching this is hilarious!!! Kevin thanking for the pandemic and Mathew saying his favourite movie has changed to Groundhog Day? Hilarious 🤣🤣🤣
He looked at the camera dead on, said thanks for the pandemic, didn't flinch for 5 seconds. I looked and saw the video was from 2013, and started to get chills in my back.
So charming. Wished he had gotten married. Things would have been different if he found a woman who truly loves him and can give him the love he was longing for…
I watched this back when it was released and I'm rewatching now remembering Matthew. What a talent. I didn't agree with his politics and usually that's a big turn off for me but when people are *that* talented, I have to make an exception. God rest his beautiful soul x
Kevin's Larry King voice sounds like the simpson's Krusty the Clown. Yes, Matthew Perry's golden opportunity is around the corner. Don't write for Matthew Perry's in mind, write for him to do a great character that he is going to blow our minds. Thx! for the sharing.
What a loss, just seeing how vibrant, witty and funny he was. So sad, when I see Matthew knowing he is of no more. Terrible loss. He was much loved. AUS
I can watch, and rewatch Studio 60 again and again. Yes, Friends was great, but Studio 60 is three levels above that. ( I wish that the audience felt the same way.)
Someone should make a video of all the guests from the show doing their Larry King game bit. Just cut all the different versions one after another. I have neither the time or the means to make such a video but if anyone else does I think fans of the show and the game would very much enjoy such a video.
Was this in 2013? I just heard pandemic and had to start the video again. I don’t remember the flu in 2013 being significant but now with Covid 19, I’ll have to look it up. Scary times, stay safe.
Matthew was brilliant man. Honestly, what a beautiful soul he was. So very talented too. May he rest in peace.
