Have you thought of trying out a narrow boat hire on the British canal system? You have to operate the locks yourself. Or, if you want to avoid locks, hire a boat on the Norfolk Broads. My husband and I fell in love with the Broads and after hiring for several years have bought a share in a boat. One of our fellow shareholding families is from the US. They travel over every year for their time on the boat. It’s a magical place!
The series has been awesome. The way you both describe everything & the history you seem to absorb. Never pictured myself on a river cruise but you guys & Dee & Jay may have just changed my mind. Love you guys! Harriet in PA
Just curious, can I plan something like that with you, when the time comes? Even living in PA? We've planned most trips thru our local AAA but they are getting a bit lax as far as looking out for new adventures & group trips.@@EECCTravels
Antwerp my home city! In the cathedral there are 3 paintings on display from Peter Paul Rubens each worth 20 - 30 million Euro (about the same number in USD). He painted the women as they liked them at that time: Rubenesk - stocky round figured people 🙂
next time in Antwerp, you need to find a place called "Amadeus" near the red light district, and order the spare ribs, its like walking back in time, the toilets and the register are the only modern features in that place, the wine you drink is still measured with a winestick
Hello nice video :) I'm Belgian but I don't like mayonnaise, so I always order my fries with ketchup and it's not a problem in belgium :) We are very open poeples. And I can confirm that we eat apple sauce, or "compotte" in french, with fries and meat; it's local tradition.
It's funny that for 'De Rooden Hoed' you actually switched the syllables around :p It's pronounced like 'De Rohden Hood' kind of, not 'de rooden hod'. Love to see you guys enjoying my city!
7:33 ey there, belgian here (Namur)It may feel weird but here in belgium,we think that applesauce pairs wells with some meats. Ive always had applesauce when eating chicken and fries, and I myself find that the sweetness of the applesauce rly goes well with the roasted chicken, it rly works!
Google 5 rise locks,Bingley west Yorkshire. There are 5 locks stacked up the hillside after you've already passed throw 3.Also you have to operate each one manually, now that is hard work 😊
I'm just being a picky foodie from the Netherlands 😋 .....but may I ask, are sure that was a rabbit stew that you ate in Antwerpen? Could it have been hare stew, more likely in the Netherlands since hares are more common? (Genine question ;-)). Hare tastes different from rabbit, with more the taste and texture of "game".

My 2 friends have just come back from a Danube river trip , the crew ripped of the steering gear in a lock and the people were stuck on the boat for 2 days and received £2000 in compensation.
Thank you. Your videos are so, so informative. I think I’m going to put a river cruise on my list, hopefully 2026. When the time comes, I will like you to help me plan it 🥰
Your videos are always so full of historical commentary. I've watched your videos up to this point in the series and loved all of them. But, I'd like to make one comment. It looked to me, and I stand corrected, that this was an 'industry' cruise...for travel consultants. We were on a Viking Rhine river cruise last year and the food didn't compare to what you have enjoyed. The entertainment...DJ music, dancing, didn't happen. The late night 'buffet' was non-existent. I'm wondering if they put out the red carpet for travel consultants to market Ama Waterways. I hope I'm wrong but if I ever did another European river cruise, and it is as is portrayed in your videos, I would choose Ama Waterways and not Viking.
According to a legend the name refers to "hand werpen" or throwing hands, in this case the cut off hands of an evil giant, Antigoon. In reality its origin would be the much more mundane "aanwerpen" or docking (ships).
As a citizen of antwerp, i really liked the video. but indeed be warned saying FRENCH FRIES is the quickest way to lose all respect from any belgian. they originitated in belgium, its a traditional belgian dish. say fries or belgian fries. We belgian's are very serious about that.
I guess if your poor then you don't get any markings. Also, I guess no one's family is alive to care about who is buried under there in the poor graves. I want to know if he drank all the beers? Poor rabbit. 😢
I hope you do more river cruises, this has been amazing.
Very hospitable of your cruise line to make the amendments they did to your travel! Better than most, would do. 👍👏
Absolutely! It was great not to miss this port!
On our Rhine, Mein, Danube cruise we went through over 80 locks.
Really enjoyed this series because of all the details you shared about the cities.
Love love love your videos. Def putting a river cruise on bucket list 🥰

We love river cruises, never had a bad experience yet. I think a smaller passenger load makes a big difference.
Because of your river cruise videos I have been looking into doing a river tour here at home in America. Live your videos!!!
We will be doing a US river cruise in 2024 👍
Thank you for sharing this with me. I just love it.
i stayed there overnight loved it

Next time in the UK, you should.d hire a narrow boat and sail the canal system. You would be able to use the lock systems yourself
Are you doing a river cruise trip that sound really fun
Yes this was part of our 7 day river cruise with AmaWaterways.
My 2 friends have just come back from a Danube river trip , the crew ripped of the steering gear in a lock and the people were stuck on the boat for 2 days and received £2000 in compensation.
Oh my goodness!! Too bad they didn’t do as Ama did and make arrangements to keep the ports.
@@EECCTravels They also damaged the ramps so no passengers could walk off .

Thx as always

Poor bunny!
Oh.. the food is so not kosher!!
You forgot to see Nello and Patrasche
Not mad, just confused. How do you like bread and not beer?
Oh those are two totally different tastes!!

Most Belgian people don't eat rabbit or horse ...
Are you crazy eating rabbit?
