What about the Hanafi mathab? They are a lot more lenient. This lecture basically means we can’t work at any retail store in the west selling anything edible. As much as I love sheikh Yasir, wouldn’t this be a serious burden on Muslims in the west? Especially when we have scholars of the same caliber like seekersguidance giving more lenient rulings.

I will answer to the person myself , Bro, only Allah knows your circumstances , you do not khave to listen to sheik all the time , the have given us enough problems for the last 13 centuries with their fatwas , Imam Abu Hanifa forbids only the drinking of alcohol or wine , but it is not forbidden to serve non muslim. Remember next time you have those issues , look into the Quran , there are a maximum of 17 forbidden things in the Quran , of you cannot find it , then it is your call not the sheik.

Well said @saleem Rounmaldaro - They sell alcohols in muslims countries by asking the non muslims to pay Jizya so they can sell or have them in the land. A young teenager may want to gain customer service experience and this place may sell pork or alchohol but thy are not responsible for these items, how could such things be classed haram. Hadiths are the worst things to rely on regarding haram or halal.

If you look at the Hadith the prophet forbids the Sahabas to ask about halal and haraam instead he said the Quran is clear. At this day and age we have to ask the sheik for everything as soon as soon as the sheik said it is haraam they love . We have mixed up Judaism and Islam. We have to stop this.only Imam Muhammad said that it is haraam to serve to non Muslim base on a Hadith which says from planting grapes with the intention of brewing to serving , the prophet cursed them . Saleem Roumaldaro : well, assalamu alaikum. I beg to differ with ur views that it’s permissible or okay under the circumstances of the young person to work in a store that sells alcohol products as its only haram to sell non-Muslims. Well I’m not a scholar but talking out of experience as I have worked in a duty free that sells alcohol products. Although I was involved in the section selling technological products like head phones, mobile phones, etc, occasionally I have to scan alcohol products as well. Well having said that, there are more than hundred times I had to sell to Muslims( now u can’t reason with ur mgmt that u can’t sell to these ppl, can u? ). It’s worth listening to advise of the scholarly people to obtain the mercy and pleasure of Allah swt. This world is a test, whereas alcohol will be served to u on a reclining chair, measures of which will be determined by you , and the drink will be served by voluptuous ladies adorning the finest of garments.
