Am glad to see you glued to raw carbon... gluing to paint makes for weak joints even with rivets. Also would have used 30 minute epoxy for the longer working time for a part where you can take a bit of time for placement, but of course as long as it works it's all good. Just wanted to say your bike art is the awesome! Thanks very much for showing it off and for how it's done
You know that car glass is glued direct on paint? It depends everytime on the quality and used materials. You can glue direct on paint if you do it right. And several bike manufacturers never glue derailleur hangers on frames. They only rivet them on.
Excellent instructional video, thanks for the clear explanation. Are these just standard pop rivets that you get online / from a hardware store or do they have a lower breaking strength so as not to put too much compressive load on the carbon fibre frame?
Nothing really secret about it... how many people are actually having the skill, talent or inclination to do this? That is the question. The process on how to is not a secret...
Thanks for the vid! I'm left with the question - if it was glued on the frame from the beginning, how did you get it off from there without risking to damage the frame? Drilling the rivets is one thing, but there still is the glue.... Did you use a new hanger, did you glue on top of the old glue on the old one, or did you (how) remove the glue remains? Thanks :)
Hi, thank you for a video! But how can i dismount a derailleur hanger from a carbon frame without destroy a carbon? Could you help me with an advice please?

Ehem?! Sonst machst du gross: 'links in the description' und hier einen auf 'such selbst'. Warum? Und: ich habe epoxy aller Art zu Hause, brauche die Links also auch nicht, ist mir bis aufgefallen...
His paintings are incredible, they are true works of art 👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽

I remove the glue before reattaching the hanger with new rivets and glue.
Martin, another question: How do you take care of the UCI logo and the frame number during sanding and spraying?
I mask them when spraying and sanding.
Great videos! How do you remove the derailleur hanger rivets? Do you use a burr tool or something else for these smaller pop rivets?

Hey bud, sort of unrelated, but is there a DIY spray can solution for candy apple red? I have Montana Aztec Gold, is there a red I can lay over it ?
Beautifully done
What was the adapter that was used on the riveting pliers? Is that something that is additional or does it come with the riveting pliers? Thank you!
I made it myself.
@@ETOE , can I just use the body of another rivet (with the mandrel removed) for the extesion/adapter?
@@ETOE would love to see that tool fabrication.
Nice bike😁
How do you lay out the masking for the derailleur hanger before painting? Is it slightly smaller than the derailleur hanger?
Did it before painting using the original position of the hanger.
What type of ribet do I have to use?
Aluminum body + Stainless steel mandrel?
Stainless steel body + Stainless steel mandrel?

I'm afraid that the carbon frame will crack when I squeeze the rivet tool.
Wow great job man
hi Martin! did you even painted a classic steel frame? Thanks and great job
Years ago. No one wants to get steel frames painted anymore.
Pro tips, from THE PRO !
But how do you remove it if is bonded ?
With a sledge hammer.
