- The original Plants VS. Zombies game developed by Popcap is one of the games that made mobile gaming a serious contender. One of the big factors that made this game a joy to play is the memorable music.
Among my favorite themes from the game is "Grasswalk" a.k.a. the Daytime theme. For this arrangement I went with a standard acapella rendition with a little extra on the side, which I believe fits the theme very well.

Fantastic! I really love the reverb settings you used for this, the warmth it brings to your chords is fantastic. I sunk about 40 hours into the original Plants vs Zombies and I admit the music was a big draw card! You've done it tremendous justice here!
Thanks Peter! It can take hours to figure out the right reverb for you, this one's been on my go-to custom settings after lots of tinkering in the past.
I know that feel, I've got about 3 that I go between based on the type of track I'm doing. More and more I'm finding it worthwhile to tinker with reverb settings for individual layers too. Sounds like you've hit on the perfect settings for moody a capella!

Fun and haunting perfect for October the drums were really impressive! I really liked around the 2:45 mark at about there this went from a simple cover to a powerful thing! I felt like I was watching it from inside a cathedral!

I use twin line, but in Plants vs. Zombies 2 I use single because they give the same amount of sun :)
Definitely prefer your a cappella covers over Smooth's. His are great, but he makes them sound more like the source material, when yours actually have vocal musicality in it. :)

Ok so I REALLY LIKE this... but my son absolutely loves it. He actually sings this or at least hums it aloud! His favorite game on Planet Earth seems to be PvZ. I actually made cut out posterboard zombies and plants for him to have fun with in the backyard. If there is anyway I could play this music cover in his videos for TH-cam when he goes to smash zombies let me know please. It would not only liven up his fun video series but it would be a neat collaboration or a nice credit for your work.

I think I enjoyed this as much as I enjoyed the original track when it was new. And that's saying so little while meaning so much. Your work is beautiful. More so when I get out my headphones and lose myself in it.

Dear Mr de Leon, I don't know how often you hear this: often your covers make my hair stand on end, but this one moved me to tears.
It's the soft and subtle counterpoints during the bridge part. When I was mourning my brother a few years ago, I rediscovered my love for a capella arrangements, and that music helped me channel the grief and go with it, rather than drowning in it. This piece reminded me of that.

Seriously though I love your work. I've always loved game music from the mid 80s when I started playing to present, I always find tunes that I like. I didn't grow up around a lot of gamers and the ones I did have really didn't like the music as much as I did. It's such an amazing time where I can listen to artists who loved the music just as much and can put their own versions out there to share with the world. Thank you for your hard work.

Second of all, why are people in the comments shitting on Smooth? I understand maybe comparing the two, and I do think that you should have (many) more subscribers, but I love Smooth, too! Why can't we appreciate them both instead of having it be a "_____ IS AWESOME THEREFORE _______ SUCKS" argument? Idk. Just my opinion.

+Sylvia Sylveon I agree. As a musician myself, I find it hard to believe why people forget why people do what they do. Do you know why people love a certain celebrity or character, whether on screen or in a book? It's their characteristics. Take Smooth McGroove, for example. Do you know why he's famous? Why, it's his beard, of course ! His repetitious use of the syllable "Bah" combined with appearances of his pet cat, Charl, makes his acapella VGM videos very fun to watch. Hence why he's called "The Acapella Jesus." Now for you, SPG. Why do people like you? Well, you're a professional Filipino composer whose works range from films and TV shows, (along with original compositions (I find your piece, 'Panorama' very exotic!)) who "moonlights" as a VGM TH-camr who trades his baton for a Wind Waker, making tributes to videogames that people all over love. Although you do acapella, it would probably seem out of place to ask Smooth to trade his voice for an orchestral instrumental. Wouldn't the instruments drown out his famous voice? The key here is originality. Anyone will fall for anyone who does something that no one has ever done before. When you do something different than others, people notice. Otherwise, it just doesn't seem interesting. From what I've observed, people love people for reasons that the average person doesn't think about. I guess they don't notice the sudden rush of blood through their veins, otherwise known as "the feels." It's strange how the human mind works.
+Sylvia Sylveon Both are great singers, I think the only thing which can separate their skills is the base music they make acapella : we can love a music that SPG did acapella, and hate another that Smooth did on his channel, so we'll prefer SPG, even if the work is the same :) And I love both ;)

For a long time I've revered the Plants vs. Zombies soundtrack as a legend, and this cover did an amazing job of refreshing something that sadly hasn't been relevant for a while. Could you do more PvZ music acapellas? A cover of Graze The Roof would be awesome.

Nailed it! Interesting take on a very special song. It has a mixture of epic, goofiness and nostalgia to it, all at once, and you bring that out nicely.
If you've played the sequel, I find Pirate Seas also has a beautiful, nostalgic melody. Maybe check it out in the future, my PvZ 2 remix is doing ok, I'm it's popular with the franchise's fans as well.
