Nice video! One thing to note about those devices that hold the sewer hose off the ground is that some parks require them and some states/cities require them by law for sanitation reasons of keeping sewer hose off of public surfaces. Best to carry on with even if you dont use it everywhere.
That's a great point. I didn't consider that because I typically do not leave it connected. We can go about 4 days before having to dump so I usually get the hoses out, dump, and then put everything away. Thanks for the info! We appreciate it! I have pinned this comment to the top so more of the community will see it!😊
Just bought our 1st camper! We had no idea how much more we had to buy to actually go camping😮😂. We've watch lots of beginner videos and this is by far the best one yet!!!! Thanks. Hope your still making videos 🤞🏽🎣⛺️🚣🏽♀️
Hi friends. Great tips. The quick connects are a great idea. We've not gone that route yet but it is definitely on our list! And your connections on your sewer are smart as well. Thank you for sharing.
Hi guys. Excited to be back with you. Great tips on the water and sewer. Zero G is a great tip. That's what we use as well. The quick connects, though. That's a tip we're going to have to steal. Awesome. Your universal connection to the sewer is great. Thank you so much for sharing your tips with us. Looking forward to more!
OMG! I need all of that stuff. The hose and quick connect is an awesome idea. Totally great video !!!! Harold the Dino loved it too and sends regards 😁
Hello- I like to have my wife turn the faucet on inside before I turn on the spigot. That way the air has somewhere to escape. She monitors as the water comes out and lets me know we are good to go.
I’ve been learning a lot from your RV beginner videos, they’re very informative and well done sir! I do wish you would have turned the water on and showed that, cuz I haven’t even done that yet. Thanks!👍🏼☮️
Once you have the water connected, I like to keep my 90-turn off valve in the off position so my hoses fill up with water but it doesn't go into the camper. I can then slowly turn that on. That gives the air a chance to escape. Sometimes I will even turn the hose on that is connected to the camper and hold it open while I let the water in. Again, giving the air a place to escape and not pushing high pressure into my lines. Hope this helps!
@@1StrangeAdventure Just a note.... Leaving the "90" closed and opening the spigot doesn't allow air to escape. There's nowhere for the air to go.. Something along the water path has to be open to do that. What I do is open one of the water valves inside my camper and then open the spigot slowly to fill the hose and allow air to escape through whatever water valve I've got open inside.
Great video! Good job. btw.... love your drone footage and editing, Yes, we agree the 90 degree shut off valve is very handy.... but way cool those quick connects. Thanks for sharing. ~ Brad and Diana
*yesterday i learned a hard lesson. pressurized the system with a full house pressure line and blew up my inline Camco 40019 filter. thought it would be ok because this was replacing one i already had on the RV air pressure was too much i guess and it blew up showering Charcoal everywhere in my service bay. bad thing is there are electrical connections and lights in there. so a REALLY good pointer would be to either run water through the filter first and then hoook it up or to have someone inside opening the water valves. I blew my city water connection right off of my RV and now have to spend my Saturday trying to find another connection and putting it on this RV that i live in 24/7 365. As far as the graduated drain pipe lift is concerned, SOME campgrounds require you to have those*
Yes, some do require them. 95% we have been to I have observed them on the ground. Not saying that's the right way of doing it, but it has been observed. Also, sorry to hear about your connector! We have had our fair share of water debacles and do not take that lightly in an RV. Hoping you were able to find the parts and repair it as necessary. Safe travels fellow full timer!
@@1StrangeAdventure Absolutely was able to find the parts at Camping world even though THEY weren't aware of what they even had on the shelf to sell to people. either way it's all fixed now with one trip too which is always a plus. specially since fuel prices are so crazy now also. Thanks for the reply I appreciate it, i managed to find BRASS inlet and adapter and put ample pipe tape on them so it was completely a one and done fix. Very happy now.
We do not leave our black tank valve open. That can lead to issues within your tank bc the water is running out and your waste doesn't always go with it. Leave the black tank valve closed as long as possible and then dump and flush. I like to flush my tank about once a week. The gray water tanks can be left open, which we typically do for our shower tank. However, I will close them the day before I plan to flush the black tank. that gives us time to build up water in the gray tank and then open after I'm done with the black tank. that helps clean the hoses and make sure nothing was left over. hope this helps.
Nice informative video but wanted to note that those adjustable water pressure regulators do a great job of "reducing" water pressure but are not capable of "increasing" water pressure. The pressure exiting those pressure regulators can never exceed the pressure entering them.
Correct! However, if your regulator is set lower than the pressure entering the regulator for some reason, you are able to adjust it up to that pressure while keeping it within a safe limit of your RV. That is what I was referring to. I appreciate the comment.
Another question, When connection to shore power. I get that all the breakers have to be in the off position at "shore power", do I also have to turn off the main breaker in my trailer.
No sir. Generally you don’t have to turn your trailer breakers off unless there is a problem. We always check the shore power with our surge protector first just to be sure there isn’t an issue before hooking up the trailer to it.
Hi Harold, Another great video! I use the same Zero G hoses. I actually have two 100' hoses and a 50' hose. I use the 50' hose mostly connecting from the water source to the RV but have the extra in case I'm camping where I don't have water hookup and have to fill from a spigot that a camping loop shares. I just hook up the hose at the spigot, fill, and then unhook the hose and bring it back to the RV until needed again. Easier than hauling water canisters back and forth several times. Also, the 311BHS has two separate sewer waste pipes. Do you use a Y connector for the hoses or just hookup to the second one as needed?
Hi Rob! I agree. I remember carrying water canisters when we would tent camp. Thankfully, those days are behind us. The 311BHS does have two black tank dumps and I do have a Y connector. However, I don't think I have ever actually used it. We can go 3-4 days without having to dump, so I don't leave the black tank hoses connected. I get them out, dump, flush move to the second outlet, repeat, and then put everything back away. Typically, the morning of travel day. Saves me the time of having to hook everything up when I get to a camp site and I can do it while Cindy is getting the inside ready. That routine works for us. Thanks for watching and as always thank you for the support!
Hi Brett! I hate to say this, but it depends. For us as full timers, I'm having to change it every month. Some campgrounds don't have the best water... For weekenders, it can be as little as once a season depending on how much you use it. I would suggest getting a system that has a white filter, so you can visually see how dirty it is. We currently have black filters and it's difficult to see how dirty they are.
Hi there and welcome to RV Life! Yes, it will be the same no matter where you go. The only difference is if you have full hookup vs just water/electric. If you have any questions for us as you learn your RV, just let us know. Happy to help!
@@1StrangeAdventure Thank you we are so excited 🥳 and thank you for replying . Oh okay makes sense. We thought at first that full hook up meant you can have your black tank and gray tank on all the time.
Some people leave them open. We tend to only do it when needed. It depends on how long we stay. You will find your own way and what is easiest for you. 😊
Question? Connecting city water from camp site. All said and done. Do I always leave the city water on (running) or do I fill up my city water tank then turn off the water?
Hey Juan, You leave the city water running and use it like you do at a normal home. (You just have to watch your tanks and make sure they don’t fill up) You only have to fill the tank and use the pump when you aren’t going to have a water source. I hope this helps 😊

90
Yes. It actually sits on something in the bay so the pressure is off the fitting. Great question. Thanks!
Why do you need a filter for city water?
