I totally relate to when you said going to college to make your parents proud. I'm currently a freshman in college for fashion design and everything is online and personally, I just don't think I am getting my full potential and creativity through the computer. But I'm glad I came across your video it helped me out.
It technically true that everything is on the internet. However most people cannot be systematic enough to learn everything by themselves.

@@batboy8954 I graduate this Spring but I had changed my major to fashion business. Everyone's college experience is different I just haven't really enjoyed it because being first generation you don't have the financial support or other oportunities so that meant also working while being a full time student.

Super valuable information, you’re my favorite creator on TH-cam currently and if my opinion is any true indicator, you’re on track to have a really solid community around your channel! I think you shared some insightful knowledge in this video. Although I think traditional education is great for a few reason: it applies structure and theory based on principles that aren’t so easy to find just searching the Internet. A lot of people don’t have the know how or knowledge to even start finding a structure of learning for themselves so when it comes to looking the part for a job you are only relying on your initiative based experience which can be hard to come by without a qualification or schooling to help supply connections. It’s a self investment, which will open doors towards more traditional jobs, so spending the money can be worth it. I understand that you don’t feel like it was really worth the money in the end but that has been said after you had the schooling, which also supplied you some experience and knowledge on what you liked giving you direction. That being said I have never really been into school but having a structure towards a path that you desire can really benefit you.
I think it is a great pathway for those who are looking for structure and some light experience in a general area. Those who are already head strong and know what they want probably won’t even need this. Plus bliss and fashion archive are both well educated which is why they can supply that kind of content. Just wanted to share some perspective. I appreciate your work.

I had a similar situation with a fashion company out of college. Totally agree with your family's advice about looking at a negative event as a positive opportunity. I found that college provided very good building blocks and I actually pursued higher education in retail & merchandising which has opened a lot of doors.

Ahh bro; I got accepted to FIT NYC and FIDM in LA for fashion marketing starting next year. I’m leaning towards LA. But Really cool hearing about someone similar to my age’s experience!
i needed to hear this. this year i made a firm decision to study fashion on my own without applying anywhere (mostly for financial reasons). i have been learning about fashion through the internet and books that i buy or download. i wasn’t sure if it was better than college and recently i’ve been having doubts, but this video definitely helped me realize i’m on the right track. thank you

Such a good vid. You don’t need fashion school but, it’s definitely helpful to build yourself and a community. Most of the teachers at FIT have that same general fashion company mindset in the business perspective. Glad your working and building what you love bro!
Two quick questions; 1) put us on to your hair process cause I’ve been trying to sauce my curls better 2) what about the people like me who just enjoy fashion, yet are constantly told to do something with it? Idk what id do if I ever entered the field, but the thought of being somehow involved always intrigued me

hey you studied in Lasalle Vancouver ? like is getting a dimploma worth it?
Was very close to taking this course just a little hesitant because I have a decent paying job now don't want to be in debt with a degree that won't even get me a job where I make more than I do now.
I graduated high school May 2016 and decided to attend Full Sail University because I wanted to be a Rapper , A Music Mogul , Record Label owner .
Now I’m 24 years old and don’t like how the music industry is oversexual and lot gun violence is talked about in most of our popular music .
I always have passion for fashion because my parents specifically my Mother spoiled me wearing some designer clothes .

Parson's would probably be your best bet they have a great online program that's a bit more inviting / accessible compared to their in-person tuition rates I hope that helps !!
