We downloaded mags to 28 because with 30, it was nearly impossible to fully seat a magazine on a closed bolt. The magazine would however, stick in the magazine well, so often you would have a round chambered without a magazine fully seated. When you went to fire your rifle, your chambered round would fire and your magazine would fall out of the rifle. Also, the second round loaded into the magazine (meaning second to last round fired) would be a tracer. That let us know we were about to run dry and to begin the reloading procedure as we fired our last round
26:32 The "onesie suits" are standard issue flight suits. When IED's started getting hit across Iraq, the Marine Corps found out the standard cammies were susceptible to catching fire in vehicles and were causing terrible burn injuries so guys doing vehicle ops transitioned to wearing flight suits because they are flame resistant. Eventually the Marine Corps caught up and developed and issued to everyone deploying the FROG gear which stands for Flame Resistant Organizational Gear.

My close family friend was a Lance Corporal in the 1/25, his battalion was stationed in Al Anbar province, specifically Fallujah. I never got the full details of his mission, but it's my understanding he was often the first man in the stack to breach. He was ambushed from a rooftop much like this game. He died two months before his battalion came home. I think about him a lot. I was too young to really understand what Fallujah was like at the time, but now just the thought of where he was stationed puts a pit in my stomach. That city must have felt like Hell. May God rest his soul.

Some of us only loaded 28 rounds in the 30 round mag to make it easier to reload, while the bolt was forward and a round already in the chamber. When you lock the mag in, with the bolt already closed, it pushes down on the rounds in the mag. So, take a few rounds out to allow room for the rounds to move down with a lot less force.
I was there.....Twice. I still remember the tank platoon from the USMC called heavy metal rolling out the wire and firing the main gun at some building close by....then later on a chlorine bomb was detonated killing a bunch of civilians. Ill have to check this game out

@OperatorDrewski. It's because a 30rd mag that is full does not seat in the mag-well when the bolt is closed. P-mags have largely solved that but I still run into this on my existing GI mags.
Great video Drewski. Don't take this the wrong way. Next step: insert a full mag drench the bolt one more time. Lock the bolt to the rear. Then send the bolt home making a condition one weapon. I think that you will hear more of a dull thud like the audio in the video that you mentioned. Marines have and always will have a strong religion for CLP. They use that stuff like KY on an adult film set. Cheers brother.
The sound you gave them is of a bolt being released with no round going into the chamber and no round being stripped out of the magazine. Still not what you want.
Small arms sound good, close impact mortars sound bit mute. Speakers or headphones nor most the recording equipment do the explosions justice. Not sure if this would have been better off as more scripted thing or if the squad micromanagement in urban environment is going to work(well, it did work reasonably well in Republic Commando, but there you had UI-elements playing into that and the environments weren't all that complex.)
You need full-sized floor standing speakers to really do explosions well. No headphones can massage your tummy, after all. I don't do it too often, though, because the neighbours are not such bad people.

I could be wrong, but I remember that was a thing back than, it would be cool if the game devs could research that and correct it if that's the case.

You even kept the reinforcements alive even when that big I.E.D. detonated, which IIRC all have standard rifleman kits.
