What Happens When a Differential Bushing Becomes Damaged?

  • We go over the affects of a worn or cracked differential bushing. We show in detail what it looks like to drive a car with a cracked diff bushing. You can see the difference between the old damaged bushing and the new one. A worn bushing allows for more play (or movement) of the differential. It can impact the driving of the car and increase wear and tear on other components!

Like why put the music when the whole point of the video is to hear the noise it makes?!

About to say. Never find this type of annoying "hype" music attracting, now it defeats the only purpose I came to see the video

Very interesting indeed! I’ve had a very slight drivetrain vibration on my 2013 640d since I bought it. While changing the oil yesterday I had a look at this bushing and found it’s cracked like this f10. I am hoping this is the cause of the slight vibes I get at motorway cruising speeds.
I’ve done this job before on an E92, interesting to see it can be done without disconnecting the prop shaft and drive shafts. Thanks for the well made videos.

Same bushing on the 6 series F06/F12/F13. All 3 differential bushings on my 2015 640i looked like this! Bought the special tools & replaced them all.

My rear bushings damaged my thrust arm bushings and Guibo. Replace your rear diff mounts as soon as they go bad. U can damage the whole suspension

I have an 05 64tci with 156k miles. she has a vibration at 40 mph, now it starts at 20 mph with a definite bass note with the windows up. Thought it might be the drive shaft but it may be the bushing causing drive shift misalignment. wWhat's the cost to repair?

Has anyone experienced an issue, i select drive and the vehicle obviously moves forward without applying the throttle, then when you do apply the throttle it double jumps as if it were taking up slack somewhere? In both forward and reverse gears. It also does the same double jump/clunk when down shifting from 2-1st. Any ideas what would cause this??

I had similar symptoms, car would jerk when switched from D to R and back. It ended up being rear diff flange that had rusted splines, it broke on me while driving.
