- You have been asking for a new Head2Head, and it is finally here!
We have chosen the RAW HM1000x and the FX Crown, both in .25 to fight in today's Head2Head. These two guns are the top of their class, and we can't wait to see how they stack up to one another. On the one hand the RAW has legendary accuracy and quality and on the other hand the Crown is Swedish perfection and great tune-ability. Which one will win? Watch and see!

I’ve never had a thing for Raws. I’m not sure why. I have a Crown on its way to me right now and this video makes me wish I already had it lol. With the Raw making only 3 more foot pounds over the crown, and getting half the shoot count out of the box, I can say I’m very pleased I ordered an fx.
Great video!!!
Nice !! I go for FX because shutcount , accuracy and, what you need to test , a lighter cocking mechanism !!! It is not necessary to have 4 fpe more or less . Around 45 fpe is more than enough !!!! Thanks for sharing. AHHHHHH I forgot FX is cheaper to!!
Thanks for the comparison. It seemed really close all along.
And both stocks are real beauts.
For me, I go FX all the way. This video further solidified my choice to buy the Crown to ad to my Wildcat and the Royale family :). Shot count and accuracy are big for me. Not to mention the Crown costs less!
Two things that stand out is that I prefer the way the Crown cocks, and I would prefer the heavier trigger, which isn't really that heavy at all. As for the accuracy, I would have liked to see each shooter shoot each rifle, to eliminate some of the subjectivity. I do like the fact that the RAW is made in the USA, but at least the FX is made in Sweden; not China.
Well well well... Joe finally made a video 😳😳😳😮 Great job guys on the video ! Great head to head video.
Thanks!
Joe some making no vids... Lol. Thanks REHMBO!
Nothing quite like the Crown. Those who've tried them, know.
👑👑👑
I sold mine, wasn’t impressed
Do more of these head-to-head series......👍
wish i had both....dude used air arms pellets in the RAW...33g jsb what it was built 4, or those heavy pellets...like the crown used jsb pellets what it was built around ...good friendly competition
Hey Gerald, yeah I wasn't aware of the 33gr being the pellet of choice for the RAW. But I'll def not make a mistake like that again.
I love the RAW, and the FX, but IMO, I don't think that the RAW should have won the trigger portion of the contest and I'll tell you why..... Lighter on the trigger is not always better and lighter does not necessarily mean more efficient! The best trigger is the trigger that yields the best results as it relates to accuracy. Point and case; the shooter of the RAW stated after the accuracy test that "maybe the trigger is a little to light", and he lost the accuracy portion of the test... In the future, what I feel needs to be done is test the trigger pulls right out of the box, then, adjust the triggers on each rifle to see what weight of pull produces the best accuracy at the range in each rifle. Then, take the most efficient trigger weight from each rifle and compare it to what each rifle's trigger weight was at right out of the box and which ever one was closest out of the box to the most efficient trigger weight wins.
Love the head to head vids, helps consumers decide when purchasing. Would love to see head to head with Gen 2 Fortitude vs gauntlet
That is a good idea!
Excellent information on two superb rifles. Both are high quality instruments and I don’t think that one could go wrong with either. With that said, I’m partial towards the Crown because I love mine!!!! Nice to see you MonkeyDad!!!!
Your 👑 is a cool mutha! Thanks bro.
Very enjoyable talk. Thank you gentlemen
RAW shot count is abysmal. That’s why the dang thing is so loud. All that wasted air.
I own the exact same Crown in .25 and the RAW in .30, < The RAW trigger destroys the Crown Trigger, at my 85 yard range both guns shoot 1" groups or less, I tuned my Crown and added a Huma Regulator to get gun to shoot better. The RAW is out of the box with no adjustments made. The Crown is quieter than the RAW, easier to carry in the field than the RAW. The RAW is a more robust gun but the Crown is lightweight for a reason. I like both guns but the Crown gets shot more often. The RAW in .30 is a long range powerhouse and is less effected by the wind. I really enjoy both guns. The RAW gets 40 shots with a 250 bar fill at 75 foot pounds. The Crown with the power adjuster can get crazy amount of shots on low power and tops out at 55 foot pounds on high with 34 gr JSB's and gets about 60 shots.
I added a HMA reg to my old Impact. the extra high power one 145-190 bar. also have a .30 slug barrel. pretty impressive. have a crown too. i think I'll get the .357 RAW.
Thanks for the info William. Those are some impressive rifles you have there.
That is a great summary of the two guns, and we love to hear your personal experience with them!
Great shoot-out with two great rifles. Regarding the accuracy tests, considering these two are among the most elite competition rifles, why allow the variable weights of production pellets (albeit very good pellets) to affect the results? Match shooters weigh the pellets and batch them for consistent shooting groups. You should too. Maybe even do a test with those two rifles again, with sorted and unsorted pellets to demonstrate just how important it is to have consistent pellet weights.
Good point. But the thing is to see out of the box. A part 2 is needed, cause I need more time with that RAW. Then maybe a part 3 with sorted and unsorted pellets.
I think anytime measuring or comparing the accuracy of two air rifles, the variables should be reasonably minimized. That would obviously mean narrowing the manufacturing tolerances of necessary related components like the pellets. If one rifle, by luck of the draw, had a relatively consistent handful of pellets and the other had a couple pellets that were pretty extreme, you'd have a few flyers ruin what might have been a really solid grouping. Is it fair to say one rifle is inherently more accurate than the other when you haven't done your part to ensure a level playing field? Unless you do that, you can only say that the test rifles both appear to have great potential and further, more exacting testing needs to be done. To make any more critical assessment prior to that is not valid and undermines the value of your testing.
@@rbi55 very informative. Thanks. That's a wealth of info.
Enjoyable video. You should also compare price.
One test that's a little more involved would be cold shot accuracy. I know there's a lot going on in an FX but from day to day I do zero mine often. My Airforce has always been a set it and forget it, a good brush gun. FX I always do a few shots before a hunt.
Travis, good to see you and "Gary Coleman" together making videos......lmao!
Great video. Enjoyed it. Both of those guns are beautiful!
Hey. If you go elephant hunting with the short guy, he will be able to get close in. Nokidding. He's a good marksman.
OMG! The yellow giant speaks. Lol. I know where you live tofazu. Elephant hunting, Fred? You guys are great. 🤣🤣🤣
Thanks Tofazfou, it was nice getting Gary back on the screen!
@@monkpato wow...😬
OMG! This is so hard to decide. But I, personally, still prefer lightweight and shorter overall dimension with scope and bipod included. Hopefully next time comparison would be in .30 or .35 cal. I'm pretty sure Martin@RAW could produce one in .30 cal with all carbon fiber stock and shroud.
Martin is damn good at what he does, so you are right. .30 RAW would be sweet.
I bought a gun from this company. I have bought many guns from them. I bought a Beeman HW100 from them that was advertised as being fully shrouded, it wasn't. They never acknowledged that they made a mistake. This is not a company to deal with.
102 shots for 45 ft/ibs is very good. I think I could live with a little less power to get that many shots per fill. I still like the RAW however. Badass gun. The AK 47 of PCP guns.
Nice. The AK 47 of PCP's. Very cool way to put it.
WAIT!!!! 2 of the top GOOOOOOF BaLLS in the world 😉 I forgot to say Great Work!!! I’ll consider them on my next one.
That's Mr. Goofball and Mr. Goooooofball, kind sir. Lol
Regulator is more consistent in FX CROWN. 25 Than RAW HW1000x, i give FX CROWN a Clear WINNER 🤘👌🎯
To me the CROWN win because it’s about $200 cheaper and it gets over 100 shots per fill.
It is just 3FPE. The difference is more than double the shots. I would thake the Crown everyday. Of course I have one. It is a real marvel.
I watched this again. I would like to see a long term review, or let's say a 1,000 to 10,000 shot review. I want to know the reliability and ease to maintain part of ownership. How well a $2,000 dollar rifle holds up, would be the biggest deciding factor on my purchase.
You can easily adjust the FX settings and the trigger so how would that even be close to a draw
For some reason seeing the gun on the stand with the barrel bending up gave me goosebumps.
I have the crown. It is accurate. I have it in .25 and .30 caliber. I have a .25 x 600 mm slug liner. It is very impressive. I want a RAW in ,357. An American Air Arms too. Have an Impact, .22, 25, 30. plus .25 and 30 in 700 mm., Plus a .30 Slug Barrel. can't remember the maker name. it's the guy that makes the .257 barrel. Very impressive. Hav a .25 s510, with reg installed, trigger lightened, with a thumbhole and ultimate sporter stocK. Very impressive. Have an Ataman ap16 pistol. Witha huggett and a leupold thermal bloodtracker sighted in with Sportmat fully adjustable ring. Works on rats up close in the dead of night. Have a .25 MRod, with all the power mods. love it. I want them all. Great compare.
Thanks Fred, and nice collection. Def would like to see that myself.
Both rifles equally expressive, all comes down to personal preference, the Crown as more tuning options but both rifles WOW.
Can't go wrong either way!
The power department judgement was not fair at all. Twice as many shots and only lagging 3fps of energy is a clear winner. I do not think anyone would want to sacrifice 50 shots per fill for 3 fpe. I could understand if the RAW was registering 45 shots for 90 fps each but that is not the case here at all. Thank you for the video though.
That's FPE to which you are referring... 👍
Yea more fpe. It has nothing to do with shot count when asked which is more powerful
Just finished reading some of the comments so many different opinions. Continue to challenge guys great video.👍✌🇺🇸👌
Thanks! Happy shooting🎯
I def would like to do a part 2. But I need a little more time with the RAW.
No, the Crown wins the energy matchup guys. The RAW might be able to put out more energy, yeah, but 6fpe is worthless when you're above 25fpe to begin with. The Crown is factory tuned to get above 40fpe, and have more than double the shots per fill as the RAW, straight out of the box.
I have an M30 from Snowpeak in .22, and I'm close to pushing half of the energy of the RAW with around 20% more shots per fill on a 330cc tank. I am new to PCP's, my M30 is my first PCP rifle EVER, and with a bit of minor tuning I have a sub-$400 rifle able to hold its own with some of the higher-end PCP rifles. You HAVE GOT to take tuning into account.
Accuracy test...did you switch shooters to eliminate that from the equation?
I would have liked to see them switch guns. Each shooting both guns Too.
Great head to head guys. Both rifles are winners !!!!
Thanks, we agree!
Why was the price difference not discussed? Hugely important topic.
Because both rifles are over $1,000USD. At that price point, a measly two-hundred bucks isn't all that much. It'd barely get you a decent scope in the same quality range.
Thanks guys. I would be tickled pink with either one.
I def think a part 2 is in order. Travis...!
I'm game!
I dropped 5 k-baffles into my Crown's shroud and am shooting at 76 decibel. No moderator just a few baffles.
Cool. That's very nice to hear.
Can you share a link or a better description of what these 5 k-baffles are? I’d like to pick some up.
Epic! Can't wait for the tie breaker!
Oh man..I can watch this over and over again. But could you guys do a review of RAW HM1000X Chassis .30 cal vs. latest FX Crown .30 cal and then FX Dream Tac Compact .25 vs. Ataman M2R Carbine Ultra Compact .25 cal. I think it’ll be a great comparison two part videos or more of FCBS (Fight Covid Boredom Series) for stay at backyard shoppers/plinkers during current situation. Thank you for making great videos.
DAMN Travis, ya done did it again. I must have these 2 air rifles now.
nah get the crown plain and simple
Get both just to fill the cabinet up.
Herman, you wouldn't regret buying either one, and if you buy both you will be one happy fellow!
Great video guys!! Nice look at the RAW!!! Travis with all the trigger time and pellet experience you have with the FX Crown (which was not factored into the competition) you cheated. LOL! How much Crown time and pellet testing time do you have with the Crown Travis? Two videos worth? JOE WINS!!! Joe don't let Travis play you like that. He should have given you a week of trigger time and pellet time with the RAW. In Part 2 You have to add the price of the two guns as tested!!!
Thanks Gman. I would like more time with the RAW. And now that I know the 33gr is the ammo of choice...It's on baby. Travis, where you @?
@@Monkeydad1969 It's on!
You're right, that wasn't my personal Crown, it was straight out of the box, but I do have a lot of time behind the trigger of a Crown that definitely gave me an advantage.
102 shot with 45 fpe or 45 shot with 48 fpe?
If I woke up Xmas morning and found iether one under my tree, I would be soon happy!😃
That was awesome. I think I'd pick the RAW because Joe was just getting warmed up. haha.
Gee thanks. Lol. Both are great rifles.
Drop them both on the ground, pick them up and shoot...which one wins? Which one will hold up after 10,000 and 5 years of use?
Hmmm🤔, you make a good point. But if I dropped them on the ground I'm pretty sure Travis would beat me down.
No doubt that the carbon-fiber sleeved barrel of the Raw is rock solid and the gun in general feels like it will last a lifetime. That is something that can't be described very well, you just need to hold the gun in your hands to understand.
I sure would! You broke enough guns on that visit 😜
@@airgundepot I know not what you mean.🙄
I think you need to try other pellets in the RAW, both are great guns though.
Exactly...that RAW .25 is built around the jsb 33gr pellet. Will out shoot any FX any day with that pellet @ any yardage. These guys know this why not use correct pellet. They ran JSB for FX,not a solid comparison. If I missed something ,I apologize. Still enjoy your videos.
We do and I didn't have enough time with it. I don't actually own one so I was a little out of the loop on the preferred pellet which I found out were the 33gr. Sorry folks. Will def do better next time.
@@Monkeydad1969 when you get back home ping me and you can shoot my .30 raw, the .30 is amazing
@@trpe71 home for me if Colorado. Where are you? And if you told me before, I'm sorry I forgot. Old age. Lol
@@Monkeydad1969 I'm in Parker, we have have chatted b4. Later, Travis
The Seneca Aspen that I recently purchased from y'all runs circles around both of those guns when it comes to accuracy, and that's with unsorted Benjamin pellets in an unregulated gun.
Kevin Calongne, nice story bro!
Hmmm 🤔. I'd like to shoot one.
There doesn't always have to be a winner. If you want to pick up a gun, you know what you want. Here you see in which aspect which is better.
Edit: but if you really want, put the price and stock variety on the table and FX Crown is the winner.
Monkeydad!!!!!! They're coming after you for showing the Hades pellets in your video, why arent you hiding? Awesome!!! Missed the Head to Head videos
David, I'm still trying to hide. Thanks. (The Hades do rock!)
Nice video, the Raw has a little bark to it, will it accept another style moderator, like a Donny FL?
Don't know yet. I'll have to contact donnyfl to see what he can do. A gent in another reply says he was able to add baffles and got the RAW down to 73 decibels.
Yes sir Donny FL makes an adapter for the concentric moderator to hold his Supressors. The offset moderator in this video not yet.
The crown's cocking is short and smooth. Almost effortless. Great for follow up shots. Not so with the HM which is a long throw and awkward.
The RAW does have a bit longer throw.
How many shots can we make from 250 bars to 150 bars when shooting with Fx crown? When the regulator is set to 150. Thanks.
Come on Joe, don't be so hard on yourself! You shot just as well as Travis did apart from one flier (which could have been the pellet) and that was with no time behind the trigger, while Travis has hours behind a Crown! The HM1000X LRT did great, especially under those conditions.
I love that "group therapy" shirt
😂😂😂
Now how about some big bore head-to-head competitions❓❓❓
That is a great idea! We'll put it on the list.
Heck YEAH!
Anyway I can talk Joe into reading 'Little Red Riding Hood' story to me, soz I can finally fall asleep with a smile :)
Wow! 🤪
Sling stud on the crown is the way to go with Harris style bipod
now this is a heavy weight fight
beautiful rifle, a beautiful dream for me... unfortunately in my country they are extremely expensive... an unattainable dream😓
I will say that it is fun but also questionable to watch such videos, now if a trigger is this light I would have surely made it harder and the guy shooting the RAW did also "kinda" blamed his accuracy group to the trigger, so what made a win in one section also contributed to a loss in an another "though I don't think that the crown did actually lose the trigger section either" so in general RAW also lost to the trigger section as a conclusion, now more shot count for me "and I believe for everybody " and with such accuracy means I will have more fun and with better and consistent results so why would I anybody wants more firepower if both can achieve the same results, so again for me RAW is a loss, but off course you guys want to sell both and at the end it comes down to a matter of the buyer liking, I would pick the crown without even noticing the RAW and off course lets not the easy adjustability the crown have and the interchangeable barrel ....
I agree. Both rifles are incredible. The shot count is great with the Crown. The RAW has such a following with the bench rest guys. I don't want you to think the trigger beat me up, but I am not use to that light a trigger and if I had more time with the RAW then it world have been a better experience for you all. Thanks for your honesty.
@@Monkeydad1969 Not at all mate, this is why I said that the crown did not actually lose the trigger section, because such a light trigger needs a getting used to, I did once made my trigger light and after the 1st couple shots instantly regretted doing so and eventually set my trigger back to a harder pull, apparently am not a bench shooter, and if it was not for zero would never use a rest "till now" :)
@@stevemarinos8095 I too am not a benchrest guy, but I may be need to start. Can only make me a better long distance pester. Lots of P-Dawgs to take down at 200yds.
Why did the Raw win the trigger contest? Is a 6 oz trigger better than a 20 oz trigger? You even mentioned in the video that a heavier trigger was better for hunting. Maybe that should also have been a tie.
jimbert50 the crown should have won the round it was more consistent and if you want it super duper light you can adjust.
@Wheely Bin and to add more, the guy shooting the RAW did mention that it must've been not used to that trigger because of its very light pull weight, so what made raw a winner in the trigger section made it lose in the accuracy test, so technically the win was also a loss, but what can we say, after all they want to sell both and each to his liking, for me I would pick the crown without even noticing the RAW or have any 1% interest in it ...
I done have any rifles along the lines of an FX or a RAW. This was to show out of the box results. Now knowing what I know, I'd like to do a part 2. Then we'll see how it goes. AGD, sure they do want to sell both rifles. Wasn't meant to be one sided. But I appreciate your replies.
I would go for the RAW
Price
I actually prefer older AZ Rapids to new sidelever RAW. As far as weight I understand most people’s needs but I’m more into heavy BR type rifles. I do own a FX Elite and have shot several others. I’m not a huge fan of all things FX but their ST barrel was a ingenious design. Only 2 things I wish old Rapids had was the quick fill, & shroud. And I really wish companies would offer longer barrels. Not everyone wants a bull pup. Even my Rainstorms or Sumatras would be incredible with 24” barrels. Even 24” is hard to get.
Obviously the RAW needs adjustments to shoot pellets at the lower speed. 924 isn't the optimal speed for these pellets.
Throw the 34gr in both and watch the RAW walk away in accuracy.
Very nice video guys. Just that RAW has been tested with wrong pellets.
I agree. Hopefully we can do a part 2 on this Head 2 Head.
Wow that's crazy I watch the video head to head with the FX dreamline and the ultimate Sporter and the FX dreamline shot a better group then either one of those guns and those guns are supposed to be the top of the line high performance Target Guns I hope people see this and realize which gun to buy for the money that would be the FX dreamline it had better accuracy
Ya they definitely did not tune these rifles Which is kinda sad to not show the potential.
The hm1000x lrt is ment to shoot 34 grain jsb. All these groups are trash for 100 yard indoor shooting
Correct, run the jsb 34gr and hands down wins against the Crown. Too bad..I think they knew this.oh well.
Thanks. I didn't know that at the time. So we need to do a part 2 with the correct pellets. Again, thanks.
@@Monkeydad1969 ether way your the coolest thing about this video Joe keep doing you.. was nice to see you in a video
@@crypto_creep8222 thanks. I appreciate that. But if I keep doing me they will put me away. Lol
3:40 in - choice made. FX Crown
Why don't you do a Umarex Gauntlet to an fx
Because it's like racing a Porsche against a Hyundai
The trigger guard on the raw is horrible
That RAW is bigger than he is.
So did fx not buy RAW so your $ is going into the same pocket
They are with Airforce now.
Yup Airforce and RAW are together now.
Forgetting shot count the RAW is a better built rifle. Will last a life time. So simple to repair if they leak . Drop the power back to 45 on the raw and shot count will be better. Is shot count really that important when it's still getting 45 +.
yes
you two guys rock...everything I needed to know!!!
how much fx crown and hm1000x
$1500 vs $2000.
There both 2k the crown has a cheaper version at 1600 & 1250
Fx the best, 102 shots, 7ms incredible
Why would you not shoot the pellet that the HM1000X is built and tuned for? The Raw out shoots the Crown all day with the HM2
This crown was clearly spiraling pellets. Take that for what you will I’m not sure these guys have them tuned correctly. I’ve seen both rifles shoot better groups at 100
I wouldn't buy a pot metal FX ever again. I use my RAW, I use my CZ to eat food. Maybe we should put an experienced professional at the wheel of the RAW here.
The RAW was made to shoot the 33.95 gr JSB. Not the 25.40 gr Pellet
That's not what we were told by RAW.
Airgun Depot I recommend you to double check with them. I have that same gun with the LRT stock, built by Martin Rutherford. And the poligonal barrel was made with a bigger transfer port to shoot the heavier JSB .25. Here is the link to a video made by Steve from AEAC about it. Regards m.th-cam.com/video/4w38NYylxpo/w-d-xo.html
My RAW HM1000X LRT built by Martin Rutheford not Airforce was designed and tuned around the JSB 33.95 grain HM2. It sends those at 100 yards into a single hole at 60FPE.
I don't understand some of these comments. The RAW was basically just as accurate as the Crown, putting 11/12 shots in virtually the same size hole as the Crown put 10 into. Joe wasn't happy with his group because of that flier, but with unsorted pellets that sort of thing can happen. If you watch Travis's review of the HM1000x that was a fricken accurate gun! The carbon sleeved poly barrel and the trigger are reasons I would pick the RAW.
I agree.
As disturbing as it may sound, you would not kick either of them out of bed.
Whattttttt?!?!?! Henry, you got issues. 😅😂😅😂😚😊🤣🤣😎
nice review but what difference does it make you probably cant find one anywhere...
Plenty of FX Crowns here...
What are you talking about? I can buy either right now from multiple places. Do you not have google or search engines where your from or something?
You folks are cleverly hilarious
Sir how to buy this item or air rifle???
We have them on our website at AirgunDepot.com
It was very educational an very close
i'd take the fx any day... :-) with a nice 70cm slugliner!!! let's see that from raw.... :-)
,I have both Crown and latest RAW 1000x. 25...RAW is much better quality and will always perform.Crown is nice with a tad versatility with liner swap. That liner feature hasn't been that inviting to me..I'm not a tinker. So I dont utilize that feature. Again I have both and RAW just screams and feel exceptional quality.FX is solid but not the same IMO.
You got a point there Lasse. Nice to be able to change barrels on the fly.
RAW rules. Have had 2 FX Crown's and never gunna buy an FX again.
Hallo . Could you please explain why ? I'm sinking to buy one. Thanks.
Need a big bore version of both
Goobers! still funny though...ha
That was good 👍🏻
RAW
you 2 should make a video of the 2 of you arm wrestling
Fx crown wins.
Neither group on the raw were very good.
